Has anyone ever had a reading or experience with a trumpet medium? I found a bit on it, but had not heard of it before last night. A friend had talked to one.
"BASIC EXPLANATION OF A TRUMPET SEANCE
The trumpet séance is a spirit circle consisting of approximately 12 people and a medium or channel with the ability to produce physical phenomena. Physical phenomena mediums are rare because it takes an extraordinary amount of psychic energy and they must vibrate at a higher frequency. The medium goes into a deep trance and channels master teachers, his own personal spirit guides and teachers as well as those of each of the sitters in the circle. The so-called trumpet is simply an aluminum cone, shaped like those orange cones that are used to indicate construction work being done or to block off parking spaces, but in this case, is a lightweight silver-colored aluminum cone. The sitters sit in a semicircle in seats assigned by the medium as suggested to him by his spirit guides during the meditation he performs alone before the sitters arrive. The sitters are arranged in such as way to balance the energy, as we all transmit different energies. The sitters serve as a battery for the medium to be able to call in the spirits and to achieve the direct voice phenomena and the levitating of the trumpets or cones during the sitting."
Trumpet Seance
Odd that I had not heard of it in all my psychic reading days. Course, there are so many terms out there now for everything and new ones for the old terms.
I guess the reason you have not heard of it is because it's 'old' fashioned now.
This kind of thing was popular when Spiritualism first started out.
If you check out the Spritualist National Union site, you may find old books which go into more detail.
I gave most of mine away to our Church library years ago.
Yes, I can see how it would be an old fashioned way of doing it. I was doing some reading on it. =)
Just to throw a bone, sounds as though it is in direct connection with the cosmic sound theory...As well as the conjunction crystal skulls theory.
The Spiritualist use to use this as now we would call it parlor games. The Spiritualist Church that I visit once in awhile tried this...the trumpet did'nt do anything. Maybe it was because there was only 5 people in the circle. The black box is also another quote so called parlor game. Where someone sits in a black box with the front opened. There is the lowest watt light bulb, and people will see transformation in the person sitting in the box. I find these subjects interesting, but not interesting enough to want to see it again.
The trumpet is not you ordiniary trumip that one would actually play in a band. It is a rather flat piece that stands.
I've seen things similar on TV...Most of them are fake. It was a gimmick...though I didn't know the name. Thanks!
To help make it easier to understand this kind of phenomena think of the phrase, 'when the going gets tough the tough get going'
These and other forms of mediumship flurished in a time when thousands of young men and women were dying in the 2nd world war.
Loved ones left behind were grieving terribly.
A huge effort was made by those in Spirit and people who could be used by them to give evidence of survival.
T
I haven't heard of it but I have heard about increasing power with larger groups of people so it makes sense
In the bible it mentions trumpent players that are alot like u describe maybe there is some thing there
It is the raise of one's energy to be able to make the trumpet levate or speak. These so called games were created in the 1800's. Many of the elderly Spiritualist will tell you, they had these and they also did senaces. It is like making you wonder if the Fox Sisiters were real or fake?
A hoax, that and spirit kisses/touches
Magicians train to perform in front of audiences that come to be entertained , they need to practice there skill while keeping in mind that the crowd is ready to catch the trick, and they still astonish people, we pay good money for that, moments escape.
Spiritualist, someone that people go to in times of grief, love confidence, and financial intervention. Are not expecting a trick, the performer here needs only minimal skills in the craft.
Every time this is brought out, spiritualist attack the exposure as rare, among those that do it they say there are more that do it legit, well they have yet to produce contrary support. The fact that they base such claims on preexisting religious preconditioning, attaching their scams seamlessly.
Well the friend that told me about the trumpet medium performs seances as well and she is not a fake. But I don't believe my friend saw the trumpet thingy levitate. I am skeptical about that as well. But who knows. I was thinking of trying to make one.
I wouldn't be surprised actually if it did channel spiritual voices, as foil seems to conduct that sort of thing. You know what I mean? Seems condusive.
now I ask you to consider the information the departed gives, would a person you love be vague if they only had a moment to communicate to you? As well having your eyes closed what else is requested of people in a sceance? I can tell you how the effect is done. How parlor games are used, but I respect your right to believe. suspending critical thinking because of faith based attachments can blind us to crafty people. A friend that does it is one thing a thief that does iot is my concern.

Now you can be a medium as well and entertain others .
This is so very old school. All fake too. Harry Houdini went around and exposed these rip-off and con- artists. An accomplish would be either hiding in a closet or under the table with a trumpet or bells. Not to mention the wires for levitating. Cross reference Harry for the facts.
*link is fixed*
parlor days a performer had to be good at performing because people knew how it worked, yet they apprecated the entertainment as just that entertainment, practice of a craft. Spirituist are bad performers that need to perform for those unexpecting marks.
Yea, just like today. I worked on a site where some "psychics" just wrote crap and was full of it. I would actually connect with the people and give them a good read. But I had a good reputation. Others, not so great.
You will find a photo of a trumpet medium at this website.
http://www.echonyc.com/~horn/stacy/000307.html
Man if I die and mediums are right I will be so let down, that i still have to be attached to this shit planet.
And then i will only be able to communicate through some mediums trumpet. If you want to know what people have to say about things ask them when they are alive, if you really need to know something that you have a question about that they are reluctant to answer then ask them when they are alive to write the answer and arrange to get it to you should they die. then if you want to test a medium take the unopened envelope and keep it in your pocket. Then tell the medium the question that was "unaswered by the deceased, after they give you there interpitation of cold guessing read the envelopes answer. Mediums when confronted with fraud always say the same thing, well a percentage are fake yet 5% could be real, so just give me your money and I will guess what your loved one said, you can bet that if i went to a medium after i died I would tell the medium to tell the person that asked them to summons me wait until they pass over because the reception is terrible. Oh and i predict that cell phone mediums, people that hear ghost in a cell phone willbe out in another month.
Cell phone mediums? haha, now there is a new one to think about!
If the mediums lost the claim of they can read them by clue and presentation then i would consider that to be a social function. Some readers are consolers, yet they use a ruse still to ply their craft, a craft that has a study potential, detectives use the same thing , that mediums use without the attached astonishing claims of spirits and mystic glitter
Dabbler > you miss the point.
May I remind you that Spiritualism is a recognised religion ?
The fact that some may be fakes should not be used to debunk those who are not.
Never heard of this specific ritual. However seems like a seance to me. I guess that is the modern equivalent.
Sinora to believe in spirits is one thing, I support your right to faith, beliefs are sacred to us all, yet requiring such amazing signs and apparitions, or materialistic sign is frowned on in all religions, churches spawn splinter sects over such things. there are those that exploite this. There is a Church movement ( I will look it up for you, that restores the spirit of those that have been lead to distress by splinter spiritualist groups. and this is not limited to spiritual matters either it goes as well for fotune seekers that want not a financial sound portfolia that takes time and investment and observation of the market, when a guy comes along and dazzles someone with a double or higher pay of. he attaches in his mind that he has something to offer that others don't. we want to feel assurance of faith like we want to think we can win the lottery.
Amazing signs were for amazing need at amazing times.....look at the history of the Spiritualist movement for details if your interested.
I was an usher in a san fransco church. I am also a carney. I have first hand knowledge of such things as well as revival tents. They served to fleece people in grief durning a war, death bed confessions of the big movers in the Craft bluured the background to counter scrutiny. They have rewritten their text as well, not only to avoid scrutiny but to increase sells, by adding one chapter to a previos release. The faith is one thing the splinter groups that took an existing urge for entertainment
stage acts and such, the parlor movement at night provided a more private form entertainment and ice breakers offering a chance for people to reenture society after greiving so you make a valid point it did surve a purpose. but to cause a person to be dependent on another by guile is vile.
Dabbler > what you speak about is as far removed from Spiritualism as turning people into frogs is to witches.
So this thread is not about spiritualist practices?
Trumpet Mediums are performers. What is spiritualism to you?
Spiritualism is my religion, it means a great deal to me.
Before you make a blanket statement, I would urge you to read some history.
I am not adressing spiritualism, I am adressing Trumpet mediums, i do believe that makes it unrelated to spiritualism, and puts it in the occult catagory.
Dabbler > yet you mention Spiritualist practice.....re read some of your posts and the original question and perhaps you will understand the stance I am taking here.
Please clarify your stance. Is it that you validate trumpet medium as a spiritualist practice ?
If you read the 2nd post that should make things clear.
My stance for clarity is that trumpet medium is a performance. There are plenty more examples of performances then there are of "actual spiritual communication" Your faith, if based on something else is not in question, just this practice of using parlor games to entertain people with astonishment, instead of developing faith.

So do you see how I want to separate your faith from claims ?
Sinora, thanks for the links.. and others, I had never heard of this before and find it all very interesting :)
some interesting arguments there Sinora :-)
I know of Houdini's crusade against false mediums and, although he was a true genius of his own art, I don't think his own scepticism can rule out what is a very valid skill and trade
Very valid performers of craft and trade. That attach faith to their acts. Had Houdini done that as well, the spiritualist movement would be bigger then Christainity. So all the Fox sisters confessions must have been falsified as well, I have an investment idea for you, Ever hear of the Drake Fortune? well spiritualist are not the only performers out there that use craft to make people faithful in something.
I recommend for a balanced read, The Psychic Mafia
By- M. Lamar Keene as told to Allen Spraggett.
I will read that one Dabbler, your recommended choices so far have been very wise.

Thanks sinora! I agree. "May I remind you that Spiritualism is a recognised religion ?
The fact that some may be fakes should not be used to debunk those who are not."
I am a spiritualist too. I assumed that it would be understood that the trumpet mediums would be in the spiritualism area, not as a sideshow freakshow. I guess since I don't set out to mislead and manipulate the world, I don't see others doing it all over the place, whereas those that mistrust everyone, are usually not trustworthy themselves.
?
Thank you for the link provided in my post, whoever did that. =)
Actually there is a faith based church that disavows the practice very much even helping law enforcement catch those that use performances and fraud. Being involved in a crooked church and knowing someone in the faith, I will stand my ground. Whether you read the book I have posted or not is up to you. Nandor Fodor is another person that clearly addresses the separation of the faith or religion from the hoax practiced by those that saw it as a money game.
I have not once "attacked" the religion, this is a thread about trumpet mediums and they are as phony as the beliefs of those who exploit and laugh at those who cannot separate faith from astonishment, and mystifying feats.
I do believe in spirits, I believe in a flash of light. A return to a continum, on our way our light resonates with those we leave behind. When people by books that claim to give them a gift, to become a medium, and then they buy all those books and sit in the dark and nothing happens then what does that mean? that is right they got riped off. And they get crushed in the faith.
Dabbler > I have no problem with you saying that you believe that trumpet mediums are fake.
I believe a good few were. I believe some were not.
Spiritualism is one religion that is not based on faith.
Our mediums priority is to give evidence of survival.
It is hard evidence, not faith upon which we work.
ps...nobody need spend one penny on how to books.
There is no secret about mediumship.
Simply go along to your nearest SNU church or download the free books.
Performers that fleece followers of any faith are wrong and they create dependency issues in people, they use deception to lure people in and they use faith to tie them down to witness astounding things. sadly a faith was given a black eye by such sensational claims and performances, please understand it is not the faith a am against. It is the Practice of deception. No such thing is excepted by the legit faith. The fath that was high jacked by con artist is defining themselves to avoid future infiltration. The stakes of such fraud is the security of sacred beliefs. How does a person that believed they talked to a loved one one last time when they realize they had been duped. By magic?
Keep your Faith, question sensational untestable claims.
Which is why I said very clearly....we deal in fact.....we give evidence of survival.
I'm with you 100% re exposing fakes.
Then I recommend that book By M. Keene, he gives props to the base or core religion that was dragged through the mud during the sensationalist high jacking, spiritualism is not the only religion that has been high jacked.
Spiritualism has never been hijacked Dabbler, for the simple reason that we are encouraged to think for ourselves...to question everything.
There can never be any legislation to protect the gulible, they will always be at risk.
It falls to every one of us to stand up and speak out whenever we find wrongdoing.
Yes and I will be the first to say that such claims of super natural feats are fake. irrelevant to the core beliefs of the religion that they are attached to. sensationalism is a shot in the foot to the spiritualist, that don't need such hocus pocus to believe.
Ah well....natural and super natural are a whole other thread lol
This thread addresses Trumpet mediums a performance that was attached to a faith. the faith was never about such things, as materialization, and spirit readings things that side shows and medicine shows used to graft their marks. The faith is set in the after life.
Now see...just when I thought we were in a good place...you go off on a tangent again.
If anybody is in any doubt what this thread is about by now....they must be blind lol
performances in faith go back to the temples, elabirete mechicnisms where made to awe the masses, The Fox Sisters astonished early members of a budding faith and snazzed it up with claims that they hade a ghost rap messages, the people that witnessed this where duped, other tricks followed if you study the progression of spiritualism, you will note that Bill Board magazine, a show mens magazine, sold trinkets that sold cheap to mediums who would turn and sell them for profit. Con artist and swindlers would vary their shows between magic and spiritualism, and then even snake oil, the accual spiritualist had been attacked at the time for trying to reclaim their religion from the over whelming fraud, yet when people went to their churches they did not produce the entertaining flare
that the crooked mediums did. So the faith nearly faded away... no pun intended. when Houdini and
all the exposers came on the scene the FBI was already seeking cooperation from the foriginal faith to have a solid base for prosacution taking away their claims that they where affiliated with a religion.
No spiritualist practices, or incourages the practice of such things. Also the one true faith does not and never has excepted the Fox Sisters as legit mediums. The person in the original faith that had the sway of the congragation splintered and sank into what became a cult following and nothing more. The Faith was shadowed by the fad performers. All the books are is saturated feel good quips and prose. I was duped at a young as as well. I have seen people that give 50 dollars a sitting end up broke and when they came to the church they where dismissed for not having money.
the only person I met that had not sank to the Neo Spiritualist showed me what I am trying to relate to you. set faith in the Beyond, do not look for signs and wonders building faith on such things will create dependency. like a person that buys "Snake Oil", They become addicted to a placebo.
For the last time.....read what has been posted already.
My faith is in evidence of survival.
And feel free to read the book I suggested. I wouldn't want to see you get the faith chill when it counts. I have seen how sauve the so called spiritualist can be to appear on the legit side of the faith. If I told you you could win a carney Game and that it is just entertainment I would expect anybody to challenge me on that claim.
How about a compromise here Dabbler ?
You read the history of the Spiritualist movement as outlined on the site whose link I have given.
The thread originally was just about the trumpet medium and how it is another way to communicate with the other side. It wasn't about faith, per se, unless you have faith that it works or faith that it doesn't. Either way, I would suggest to anyone to try it before debunking or believing.
yah thats the first time i ever heard of it too....but then again there are lots of stuff out there that we don't know about....
Have been involved I will never consider it a comfermation or communication from the other side. To limit myself to a simularity of this world where I pass along and keep having to "come back" at the whims of a medium, who uses vague referances to things previously mentioned in conversation. No I will put my faith and critical thinking next to each other and demand proff that such claims made by a trumpet are anything but a performance.
but I make it clear any practice that focuses on resolving grief in a congragation that doesn't make such claims and create dependency from desprate followers is ok in my book.
No medium has the power to call anyone back, they come for a purpose entirely of their own free will.
I think that Dabbler has alot of experience of fakes, I have often said that too many people look to the supernatural before checking the obvious.
I would say more like I have had little experience with physically accountable "real' ones.
Dabbler, & Sinora.. interesting points you are making but the thread is starting to read more like a conversation between you both were the main subject of discussion got rail-roaded a little :) Loved the subject Jamie!
Yes, sorry about that, it's just that the subject is linked and produced offshoots as it were.
Like said before I do not think any medium can bring any lost soul back.
I agree with Jamie and Sinora. =) Spiritualism is where it's at.
I have never heard of this type of a reading before, but it sounds most interesting. The twelve surrounding people sounds interesting, but I was wondering the levitating cones; do they really levitate during a reading? Has anyone experienced this type of thing and seen it performed?
All fake, Look into The Haunted Museum all the how they do it photos are there. Houdini, Randi, they both busted the earliest hacks Margret being the one that even gave people the chance to have sex with their departed one last time. Gross, very. She would also have sex with those that helped her perform. Sick? The wishy washy, flip flopping of the whole movement has snuffed any former air of legit practice in the spiritualist movement.
