I was wondering how others perceive subliminal messages sent from energy adepts? Do you see an image with a "sense" of a message, or do you actually hear a message without an image?
Personally I tend to see brief flashes of images.
Though one time I just caught tiny tidbits of words like someone was walking by me and whispering something so I couldnt hear the entire thing.
I personally am not aware of them, but I do know they were used by television commercials way back when. Supposedly they were outlawed, but I'm sure that they are still used.
To me subliminal messages take the form of images; though I am a highly visual thinker.
I suppose it would depend on the intended audience (whether yout were being singled out or whether there was a larger audience), and of course the intended message.
How you interpret different images is different depending on your own beliefs and backgrounds, but with specific audiences such as kids, obviously there are a certain number of things that are most likely true about any child.
Most kids (we're talking young kids here); like cartoons. They like ponies or cars, pink or blue.
I know it's stereotypical but that's unfortunately how society is effecting today's kids.
Anyway. Knowing these key things about a target audience can allow others to manipulate them without them realising.
If someone knows you really well, they're more likely to be able to convince you or something, right?
They know what makes you tick.
Just a load of different ideas, sorry if it came across a bit jumbled! :)
You can also feel what the message is w/o images as well. you get this feeling that there's something you need to do, then get it done, and discover it was right
That's an interesting point - that these things can effect you in such a way that you don't even get an image or anything like that - just a "feeling".
Almost like a gut reaction of sorts.
I think those types of messages can often be the most dangerous.
The flashing image thing is a myth. For it to work you would need to make the image last long enough for it to to just barely register consciously and it defeats the purpose of "subliminal" when the information transfer needs to be consciously absorbed rather that unconsciously. But, I'm only speaking to one small (albeit the most popular and now known to be useless) strategy, others may be perfectly valid for all I know.
Cool subject. We have talked of this quite a bit before, you could find threads in the archives. ... About NLP and all that.

The majority of subliminal messaging and hidden images are all based solely around sex. Sex sells. It always has. The advertisers even used it in the late 1800's to sell cigarettes. It worked swimmingly. It still does.
What is the most consumed beer in the world? Budweiser. Why? The Budweiser/Bud Light girls. They travel from bar to bar in booty shorts and most of the time bikini tops. They model in swimsuits for mirrors. Let's face it, they are scantily clad hot chicks with phallic-shaped items in their hands. Guys are going to buy it. Women are going to buy it so that the men will ogle them with these phallic-shaped items. Particularly those items that go in or near the mouth.
It's the product placement that's annoying. I can't even play a video game without seeing the McDonald's "Golden Arches" every which way. What happened to gaming companies using fictitious company names and logos?
I was just about to say something about product placement haha.
Product placement isn't even necessarily logos; if a product has a certain palette of colors, like uhh, Marlboro is red and white, McDonalds is red and yellow.. these things make a subtle difference to you.
Red, yellow and orange have been shown to encourage eating - blue can function as an appetite suppressant.
Sage green is relaxing, and helps you to sleep.
It's pretty scary when you realise how many of these little things add up to the billions of dollars McDonalds makes each year.
o___O
I guess my interest was more on a personal level -- from person to person-- although the advertising discussion was interesting. Does anyone know if it's easier to communicate this way with someone who has linked to you?
There may be a way of psychic transference that takes place. Certain twins have been known to have that experience
I don't know if it's the same thing, but I often have dreams so strange that feel like I'm getting messages from my subconscious through the fast shifting imagery.
