Odd.
My younger sister was telling me the other day about the dream she had that scared her as much as mine scared me. In my dream, Janet had been killed (shot). In her dream I had been stabbed and hung in a public bathroom.
We both saw the perpetrator as a shadowy figure. No features at all just the frame of a man, all in black. In her dream he carried a knife and in mine he had a gun.
At the beginning of both our dreams we were with friends, and then later surrounded by crowds that did not acknowledge our presence.
Has anyone had an experience such as this with a friend or family member before???
Do you think it is possible to share dreams??
I am just looking for thoughts an opinions on this subject.
I def think its possible.
I had an experience similar.
Back in high school a group of friends were having a sleep over/bonfire party thing. A bunch of people were there. Yada.
I usually meditate, or try to, before going to bed. I found a quiet area and did my typical visualization/mediation. Only this time i kept seeing a person sitting in a white orb/light/bubble whatever. And they were surrounded by water.
Which is strange because I'd never had that before. I found it hard to concentrate because the same image kept popping up in my head. So I left the mediation and decided to get a drink before trying to sleep. As I walked in the kitchen, some other guy I had only met once or twice was sitting with some other friends and telling them about a weird dream he had. One where he saw some lady drowning only she wasnt really drowning, she was just sitting there underwater looking at him.
Not exactly what I had seen but massively close. When I told him about what I'd seen later, he got freaked out and wouldnt talk about it again.
I dont know if its just two minds processing similar events, or recent information in a likewise manner or maybe just brainwaves finding the same frequency, if that makes any sense. lol
The dreams occurred one night after the other, not on the same night. So it isn't possible to be on the same astral plane on different days, i assume?
You can if the others persons astral body/soul is not in the physical body at said time.
I believe sharing spiritual consciousness is very possible...
I often share dreams and premonitions that are not only similar but nearly identical in symbolism and nature with my mother and always the same night, same time...same awakening...I share an emotionally spiritual tie with my father, although I have not seen him in nearly 8 years...he and I both "Know" when the other is experiencing a stressful moment.
It's possible you and your friend shared a common theme in your dreams due to perhaps going through a similar experience together?...Being under the same stresses can often bind two together in working the same problems out through the subconscious mind. Just a thought...;)
That makes some sense. My sister and I are very close, and have gotten closer since she came to live with me a few years ago.
Perhaps it's just a heightened sense of intuition. I just found the intensity in which we both experienced these dreams to be a bit much Especially considering the content.
My first thought was maybe a warning of some kind.
If you feel if it was a warning you would know. Intuition does play a strong role with a connection or bond between two people, I would study the experiences you and her have to see what it tells you exactly.
Sounds like an idea.
As long as there remains some objectivity.
If you're siblings, then you share some of the same genetic information, some more so than others. In this case, you are more prone to hit the same brain wavelength at the same moment. If this occurs, you are basically both on the same "plane" if you will. If this wavelength envokes a certain emotion, its possible that both individuals can experience a dream similar to the other.
Outside of family, with friends, I dont have a way to explain that yet. But Ill get back to you.
This is just my thoughts, and I'm definitely not a professional on this subject.
Absolutly, dream walking is very real it not only allows you to experiance eachothers dreams but harnessing it correctly you are able to communicate with people such as talking, even touching.
I wouldn't call what happened dream walking. Merely two sisters having dreams that were similar in plot and symbolism.
I have heard of ghosts having an effect on people's dreams as well.
it's been said that certain twins who have a strong psychic attachment can do this under certain circumstances
I can see that.
What if we throw a third sister into the mix??? Someone who lives on a separate continent, also having dreams similar to this. Replace the gun/ knife with fire.
Can anyone venture a thought or idea on what that might mean???
Yes,it can happen and does. Its a form of entrainment and doesnt have to "mean" anything.
Take two clocks and put them into a room.Even though they are one thier own rythm, they will tick in unison for a time.
Same thing happens to us and it is the mechanism behind empathy, telepathy etc...
The most important thing for you to do is not only just remember that particular dream you just recently had but to write down all your dreams when you wake up in the morning then you can go back to the dreams and find out if the others had the same dream and also go back to it to see if there is anything symbolic.
I will answer this intuitively as I am inclined to do from time to time..especially with dream interpretation.
I do not sense a warning of death with your description, although death or dying by force was present...the shade responsible is purely a moving force behind the slayings within the dreamscape.
The three of you may be facing upcoming trials that will challenge each of you in differing ways and much of what you go through may expose you to situations or problems that you otherwise would avoid.
However, what is strong and true is the bond that you share, therefore you will find more reliable relationships and support from those of your kin and not from friendships. The challenges you face will not be recognized by anyone else but yourselves but the significance I find that the three of you share this dreaming is that you are simply being told...you are not alone...rely on one another through what is to come...whatever it may be that each of you is facing that can be considered a life-changing event.
I have heard of something similar. A group of people not related by blood all had a dream that they were being hunted by a crocodile/man creature all one after the other night wise.
Thanks Silverhawk, that speaks to me in a number of different ways. Especially considering the trials we have already had to face, together, throughout the years.
We have all anticipated further difficulties but not the separation we are experiencing currently.
Thanks a bunch :)
Sharing the dream sounds as if it can't happen but I do infact believe that it is highly possible that someone can.
The major question that arises from a shared dream is; Is this a warning?
Maybe the reason for you and your sister sharing this dream is to warn you both to be cautious.
How else can someone possibly share a dream?
I don't know this is a first for us. The whole thing could be coincidence but where is the harm in looking at alternatives, especially considering my older sister has been sharing certain dream qualities as well.
I highly doubt that this can be a coincidence.
This topic sparked my interest and I decided to google it. xD Which then led me even further and made me check out "dream interpretation" as well as "dream journal"
The wikipedia page that I saw all these are HERE.
Lovely!! Short and too the point. :)
I have a few books on interpretation already and have a bit of a dream journal started... We will see where it all goes I suppose. :)
i have shared a complete series f dreams with someone that barely know but those dreams made us come close together as friends and even more than that
How did your dreams between you and the person make you two closer?
How can it happen you ask Bio?
Entrainment. We as humans are naturals at it.If certain people share certain frequency traits, then this is one of the results.Same with empathy, telepathy and the like. I dont know about dream interpretation and all that..I think SilverHawk did a good job with her attempt, but Im here to tell you guys, there is science data out there that supports it.In other words, the mechanical aspects are there.I bet we share more dreams with others than we even realize because we dont ever find out unless someone where to bring it up and ends up telling someone else who just happen to have had the same dream..
Kindof like having an idea you think no one else has had yet.You start talking about it,then come to find someone else had the same idea, right around the same time you did...
well after discussing the dreams and what not it brought us closer because the dreams were about us to begin with and our lives
Glad to help in any way...:) Although I have to admit, there is much you are holding back on these dreams...just a gut feeling and I'll throw it out there, even if I'm completely wrong...but a spiritual matron on the maternal side...a grandmother...has shown herself to each of you...giving you advice from time to time...dreams can often be influenced by spirits but often they are the mode of communication from our guardians and ancestors.
A journal kept by the bedside is most advisable and helpful. If you write down keynote details of your dreams as you wake from them, you will be able to build up your memory of the dreamscape you are sharing.
You will find that symbolism and meaning varies from person to person, but what is personal in the dream that speaks to you...trying to communicate something of importance...take heart and strength from that love...you will build your own interpretations as you go and work together in this....the key is in what you bring together...to the table.
Be Strong.
I have been keeping a dream journal, here and at home. They have become more vivid and I find myself able to remember key points more often.
I am travelling currently and away from my sisters so we haven't had any tiime to really sit down and evaluate the situation.
Also, both of our grandmothers are still alive. Our great grandmother died when we were young. We are not in contact with our mother in any way shape or form.
We don't know what to make of this so for now we are relying on each other.
Again thank you for the help.
Then it was something most likely random...it's only intuitive information...take it, leave it, whatever is useful from it, what is important is that you learn something more of yourself and what you are experiencing in life and in these dreams...the rest will reveal itself in time.
Also, please make note, I did not say the matronly spirit was "your" grandmother....but a guardian or ancestral influence.
Oh I see. Well I have taken to writing them all down and sharing them when possible. And paying attention to the paralells between our waking lives and the things we get up to in the dreams.
It isn't coincidence that these dreams and weird occurences have started around a time when myself and my sisters are all facing huge decisions, and a cross roads within each of our lives.
A light bulb just went off.... lol
;) Hopefully, all shall turn out as it should then...I will keep you and your sisters in my thoughts and prayers...Good Luck to You All...:)
Thank you, I appreciate it...
Well, I have been keeping a dream journal both on VR and at home. I have noticed a pattern. I have been dreaming of the elements. Mostly Earth, Water and Fire.
To keep the discussion going, I wonder if anyone else has experienced this and what it ma have meant to them???
I have shared many dreams with people. Some being my children, my mother, and most recently, an ex of mine (which is odd, because we have been broken up for years...).
My mentor on the occult used to tell me that when someone shares one or more of your dreams, you've given them a piece of your soul.
I shared a dream about horses with a f/f sometime ago. 10 years later after we separated we shared it again, and she ended up getting a horse
That I remember I've never shared dreams or even similar dreams with anyone. It could be possible though, astral projection or dream walking maybe?
MMhhmm ToD, That is a possibility I looked into but I don't think it'sastral projection at all which involves the person leaving their body and looking around??? for lack of a more descriptive explanation.
Here is what I've found as a definition.
Astral projection
1. sending astral body out: in theosophical belief, the ability to send the astral body outside the physical body, while both remain connected.
Dream Walking

I'll do just that NeverMore, thanks. I have been keeping track of mine as well. The nature of dreams themselves are 'strange' so it's no surprise that everyone thinks their dreams are odd. :)
if you are close enough to another person i feel it would be possible to share dreams, i mean u hear of husbands that share there wives pains during a pregnancy or those that are so empathetic they just always feel others pain i myself have had this happen a few times so why would this be any different?
I agree dreams can be odd at times, yet they still allow us to see. Things we would ordinarily miss in the wakening hours.
I always saw dreams as something unique and personal to the dreamer. Sharing them, I expected to be something rare and to occur under special circumstances. I agree that it does have a lot to do with how close you are to someone... but I don't think it's the same thing as empathy and sympathy pains.
Empathy is a whole other can of worms. But perhaps loosley linked to question of how shared dreams occur.
If I have a significant dream it's normally really bad, 9/11 Japan, etc.
Have no idea why?
Perhaps these events resonate with you in a certain way... a little self reflection might help you out.
Thanks ToD
I know for a fact someone can share the same dream and they do not even have to be close by. They could be overseas to you and still share the same dream. I have had this happen to me years ago. The friend of mine stopped me from saying too much, and he himself, TOLD me the person i saw in my dream and what he was wearing to a T. I was pretty amazed by this. That alone confirmed that yes, people whom are connected in some form, can share such things.
Later on, someone else close to me had another similar dream, just slightly different, of the same man that I saw with the other friend of mine. I had not given any particular information about the dreams. So that in itself made the situation significate. :)
Maybe you remember the works of Nostradamus. Perhaps that is why 9/11 and Jpan stand out in your dreams you already accosiated them with so called prophecies?
it is quite possible that if you are close enough to someone that you can possibly have dreams closely in resemblemence to each other, sometimes the dreams do have a meaning to them and I would research the symbolism of what the dreams have to them with in reguards to what is going on in both of your life. I have a link that can help with what can be the interpetation of what the symboligy of the dreams meaning..i hope this helps you out some..

I read Freud's Interpretation of Dreams. After reading a lot of the links and posts in this thread. I have come to the conclusion that Freud was missing a lot.
Although a lot of his theories weren't great, he still had the right idea in regards to the Id, Ego and Super Ego. He was the first person, I think, to research the sub/unconscious and it's role in people's lives.
Sharing a similar dream isn't that unusual with some minor differences, it's when the dreams are spot on exact that you have to worry about the reality of "non coincidence"
Parallel life streams, but hopefully somewhere along their line of development they diverge and go off in different paths.
Dreams can be shared. That's why it's called The Collective Psyche.
I don't know what to make of it at this point, but it might be a premonition. I myself have a precognitive ability, and it has helped me before. Don't take it for face value right now, but pay attention to it and be wary just in case, that's what I would do if something like that happened to me. Being natural wary and planning to be ready to fight if I have to has kept me safe a couple of times.
I think that what you seen might be a vision of the future or something that is currently coming into play in the present. It could be something of your subconscious as well. I believe that we all dream and see visions for the things that are happening or will happen in our lives. I believe that if someone is physically connected to another person then it is very possible you could see what the other person is seeing due to that connection and how strong it is.
I've had different experiences with a friend before, not just with dreams or visions but with everyday life. There is no denying the truth when it is right in front of you.
