Greetings!
I'm a relative new comer to this site, and I happen to think its a great resource. However, aside from viewing profiles and looking at links, I feel there is very little to actually do.
So in that vein (no pun intended) I am posting this thread to see if anyone is interested in an online RPG set in the World of Darkness by Vampire: the Masquerade. It would be set in the pre-Gehenna WoD and would include all the major Camarilla Clans. It would be very loose in terms of system, based more on give and take and mutual respect. Let me know what you all think, if responce is good I'll get some characters together and a skeletal story for us to play.
Cheers
-DarkChylde

Dark ages or modern day masquerade? And how would you play? over the forum here or is there a site or something else?
I was thinking modern nights. And over the forum her, unless someone knows a better spot.
DC were you thinking along the lines of bulletin posting board type scenario? excuse my ignorance here, I am thinking old school.
Modern is good
*Ahem. If I might make a suggestion.
I don't know Cancer's position on this, so I'll gladly step aside if I'm out of line.
But, The Lurkers' Domain is a message forum dedicated to storytelling and RPGs. I am offering a forum dedicated solely to your game, however you chose to set it up.
Of course a thread could be done here, but I'm afraid it'd get lost with the other threads. Perhaps Cancer might create a new forum for it though, just for gaming.
It is not my goal to take away from VR. Lurkers' is already sort of a quasi-sister site. I'd like to think it's a good compliment.
*I'll shut up now.*

I have no problem with the The Lurkers' Domain functioning as an RPG board for Vampire Rave. I have other future plans for an online game here....
I was think bulletin board system (old school rules!) If you insist on the lurkers domain, then I'll use it, but i would like to do this here as I think it could contribute greatly.
I offer this solution for you.
At The Lurkers' Domain there is now a forum for The Masquerade.
If you would like to host your message board V:TM RPG there, it is ready and waiting.
Promotion links from here to there will be easily created. That's what this resource here at VR is fundamentally excellent at.
Did I just read...."Plans for an online game here"??????...COOL
YES! The ONLY game system better then xbox would be one created by Cancer ;)
I too am interested in the RPG. I would probably play a Malkie, if you have room for one.
I have never played anythign like this before, but I am very interested
Well I received an email form Cancer (thank you!) giving me the go ahead, but only after much planning and careful consideration on my part. Stay tuned.....
For those who have never played Vampire: The Masquerade before and are interested in learning more about it, I have posted an article I wrote back in '96.
It is linked here at VampireRave for you to check out.

Very nice article Dan... :P
I would love to join up. Used to be somewhat active in theKindred.com back then, anyone remember the sanctuary ?
Darkman ... would you expect Scar to do anything less than completely cover her nose in brown. :)
Starry... why of course not... she wouldn't be herself then ... :P
Clan Lasombra:
"Which Vampire: The Masquerade clan do you belong in?" - Results:
While many clans seek to embrace their remaining vestiges of humanity, or to reject it altogether, Clan Lasombra laps at the seeping wounds of innocence left bleeding. Relishing their fall into monstrosity, most members of this clan transform all vestiges of their past humanity into sadistic mockery. As refined as they are cruel, some call them the twisted reflection of Clan Ventrue's noble (or whimperingly anemic) numbers. The terror the Lasombra stir in the hearts of mortals is only heightened by their uncanny affinity for, and even control over, the shadows themselves. But that same power that lets them conjure darkness itself to thrash the life from their foes seems to imbue in them weaknesses as well; Light on reflective surfaces does not catch their image, and the vengeful rays of the sun cut them as deep as an undertaker's shovel into the moist earth. The Lasombra claim a measure of leadership over the Sabbat, a vampiric sect that preaches the embrace of monstrosity and the domination and subjugation of mortals.
Ive played a few games as ventrue and a few as gangrel, i have a few characters of each but its hard to pick a favourite from between the two as all my characters have something i like about them.
Yeah I've played it as well numerous amounts of times on IRC and I have the PC game. I usually play a Toreador
If I were to play, without a doubt I would be a Ventrue... But I don't play.
Okay, folks I have just email Cancer about some things I might need for the game. Stay tuned.

I'm going on vacation Thursday night, to Salem Mass, with my beloved tour guide, Lady Lillian, by my side. (Hopefully get some good pics while there.)
At any rate, when I get back, I'm going to set up a "Beginner's" game of V:TM on The Lurkers' Domain for anyone interested. This is not a substitute for DarkChylde's game, whereever it lands. But it seems there's some interest for this.
I'll let y'all know more when I get back Monday.

iv played a few times and allways as a ciovanni or gangrel .. its hard to cose between those to Clans .My soul has something from both sides... looking forward... tell me when it starts and im in..
Well if Cancer does decide to launch a RPG....Please Please Please....could someone tell Me how to play.......
I have never Played one before so I would really Appreciate all the help you can give me....
ElderDaniel is starting a beginner's game, and I suggest all beginners start with him.
DarkChylde's game will be more intermediate.
ive played on paper but never online, how do you make moves, i mean you cant roll the dice online. Is there a different system or does somone have dice?
Excellent Questions Daire........
I am VERY interested in getting into the game Elder Daniel is putting together....
I am a veteran of D&D - pencil and paper...but have been interested in playing both it online, and Vampire(The Masquerade)either paper and pencil or online...So I feel a beginner setting more appropriate.......
To Follow up Daire's Question.....will there be an online dice generator????.........
Also........Can someone suggest a site for info on exactly how a RPG game works online....I too am at a loss on how movements/actions are made and/or resolved.....
Does everyone meet online at a certain date/time....or are the games played out something akin to the Olden Days( My Days ) of Chess via Mail??? IE Everyone inputs their moves by a certain time...and the results are then displayed....next moves are plotted...Etc..Etc...Etc...
Any info on this would be GREATLY appreciated....I Thank You in advance for your time!!!!
PS. I am rushing to sign up on the Lurker Site as to be ready to join up!
To answer both of you, many sites do it different ways. I play mine very much like Play-By-E-Mail. Each player writes about what they are doing, where they are, etc., writing down very much their part of a story.
When characters need to face off, they will take turns describing what it is they want to do.
They trick is, of course, rolling the dice. I "prefer" as the StoryTeller to roll all of the dice to ensure the integrity of the rolls. Too many fights will come up as to what the dice really were.
There is a dice roller on Lurkers, and that is what I use, and will cut and paste the results.
This means there is a slow but thorough resolution of any battles.
If his is too slow for anyone, and you find your fellow players online, you can by all means meet in a chat room, provided on Lurkers, or perhaps a private room off of #Vampires. But if the actions played out there affect the story told by the game, I ask that the text be pasted in by someone.
This story forming aspect of the game, by writing out your character's deeds is what makes this suitable for a V:TM game, and not so much for a D&D game.
How appropriate it is that this game should come together on October 13th!
The game setting is ready for players to come, sign up, submit sheets, and get ready to play.
I will be posting the Character Sheets for my two main NPCs so everyone can see examples of how to fill them out.
Feel free to create as full or thin a sheet as you need. If you have questions, please Ask! If you want your sheet kept secret, just email or PM me. If you don't mind it being public, post it to the thread.
But the game is afoot tonight! Don't panic or rush, as characters will filter in and make their appearances. But if you're ready...
Come out
Come out
Wherever you are...

P.S. If anyone wants to have fun with a cool Dice Roller, you can use it for any and all of your RPG needs.

Dan,
I'd suggest you make a user site for your players... Where they would log in and then all their character data would be there. You could also make it so the players could do the rolls when it was their turn, and the data was sent to a database....
It could be setup pretty easily, and also so that once a player rolled, that was it.. Result are posted or recorded.
It might speed things up a bit.
Cancer,
It's in the works, but I wanted to get something started in the meantime.
Once GOTHIK is done, of course, this will all be moot. But a game is a game.

I've been playing Cyberpunk online for the longest. This might be interesting, and with a new GM none the less...........SHIBBY!
