which stories which books?
historical documents collected about Vlad without the fiction
Life and Times of Vlad Tpesh
very very good and show how his actions were created due to the times

do you have any particular books that truly capture his story and the kinda person he really was. is there a book that is better than another.
you would be hard pressed to find any historical story that is not embellished....
the saying goes the victors write the history books...but it leaves out that their writers take much artistic license....
Think I mentioned already although last i checked it was over $200
Essays on the Life and Times of Vlad Tpesh or close to that
I done alot of searching a web sites to see whats out there. I do have a few of them saved. the only one I hvae at this time is this one http://www.vladtheimpaler.com/ check it out maybe it may help you out.
depends on which books you read. I have noticed that the more current the book is, the more historically accurate it seems. Research updates these books all the time, and fiction is slowly being replaced by fact.
I absolutely agree with u!
Its the same with stories of Lady Bathory. Im reading the newest books and they really contain more facts than the older one.
thanks for the web site. and i will look for the most recent book. thanks yins guys!
i remember my teacher once telling the class "history is written in the words of the Victor" i think i said taht right.....
history books, never tell the full story. all you can do is research on your own
there are stories then there are collected documents of the time.
Read the documents and the authours thoughts on them for yourself and decide.

I agree with Daermon, oyu would be hard pushed to find somehting that hasn't suffered the 'Chinese-whispers' effect over time... who really knows what happened unless they where there. But still, and interesting thing to read about!
Every story has a thread of truth in it. Unfortunately for us, everyone also embellishes their victories. And unless you were there, then you never really know what it was like.
yeah wendy, look it up yourself!!
history books are full of shit!
Unless we can travel back in tme and see for ourselves then we'll never know the full extenet of what went on then. Vlad the Impaler could be nothing of what he's summed up to be. History books are based on more historical accounts and they aree based on the same principal.
you know im screwing with you wendy. i have no clue to what yall are talk in about
you know im screwing with you wendy. i have no clue to what yall are talk in about sorry.
have fun with the search tho.

A hero who used terrible means to demoralize the enemy both without and within
i think that alot was left out because no one really knew him they just geussed
I agreed with an earlier comment... History is predominantly written by the victors.
I would think much has been left to the imagination regarding Vlad, either by true accounts not written, lost in translation, or no real basis to tell.
whoa. i have no idea, sweetie. i think some of it was made up and the rest was probably true. he might of impaled many people but i don't know about dipping bread into a goblet of blood and eating it like that.
i like the old addage, there is two sides to every story...then theres the truth!
well different stories tell differentpoints of view...i would say they would leave a coulpe things out and then exaggerate a little...
