I have been here for a little more than a month.... and I have need to understand how this community works......
I thought the reason for this community was for people of like minds were able to get together and have a place where they can be with others like them from around the world.
I don't know what to think now as I have seen some people do some really awful things to each other here. And are allowed to.
Can one of the the more higher level members please explain....
Is this the reason for Vampire Rave to come together as a community and cut each others hearts out.........
I don't think I am getting it.........
Shit happens on VR like it can happen in any other site, like in real life, you can't avoid it.
If people have arguments with each other, the site is not responsabile.
It's called human nature.
The forum and the Houses, Covens and every aspect of VR, are what the members make of it.
It is up to those that wish to make a positive contribution to continue to do so.
Those that wish to bring down the BS drama, need to be called on it and have it recognised for what it is.
People don't and can't always get along, so conflict is enevitable, but when that conflict turns into a soap opera, it gets tired really quickly and often resolves itself without serious injury.
From my own perspective, I have found a great deal of information and support, guidance and heartfelt emotions as a result of VR.
Perhaps you have not yet gotten to know those kinds of feelings yet?
There are people like that everywhere, love. That's just what they do. And in a site so full of free speech, some things may seem like someone's getting their heart ripped out. Most of us don't take it too personally when it happens to us . . . look to the animal kingdom: grow a harder shell or learn to hide and run, or put up fangs of your own. Good luck to you.
Cancer started this site for knowledge and societies on Vampires and i cant think of some of the others. But we try to work together in this society of ours as a whole. Even those we are in separate Covens/House we unite as 1 and this is me talking. I came to VR in Feb 06, met alot of people and im touchy so i get hurt when i lose someone. And yes i seen alot of hate and ill be the first to admit i have been flammed at etc.. As I grew and did my steps and learned the knowledge that my masters taught me, and The aweosme cancer himself to ignore all the bad things and bring in all the joy of friendship. I opened my Coven in July 18th and I own the Bleeding hearts. And i found out that fit for me. You have to find within yourself whatt you want to gain from being on VR. Reading the VR manual is always a good thing. Friends are everywhere :) Add me to you list ill be always there to listen and i dont want to sidetrack this but i learned not to be a victim and i love VR. It is my home, and I also have friends and some will laugh, but owell. and i have fun with all in my Coven and respect those who respect me. Its placing yourself where you like to be. Maybe your in the wrong House/Coven I do not know, but i do know there are many others that you can go read there main pages and see what they have to offer you as a individual and maybe you will find a better understanding in another dwelling. My dear friend i wish you well in you journeys and place me on your friends list even go by my Coven you neverknow, until you look and see whats around you. :)
Blessed be!
I hope i was abit of help :)
i agree with you entirely. i've seen the same thing on other sites - people who should know better, who have been marginalised because they are different, then do the same thing to people on their site because of some pet little difference of opinion.
the problem with Vampirism is many of us are drawn to it for the wrong reasons. oh, there is the energy feeding thing, sure - but how many of us are really here because of our sado-masochism and self destructive urges? lets be honest - many of us - probably most of us - are emotionally wounded.

Of course the purpose here is not to cut people's hearts out.
Some people here (the staff) have the duty to uphold these rules Cancer has put into place- and also guidelines we follow that the rest of the site is not always privy to- and we catch a lot of Hell from members that have no idea what is said and going on behind the scenes.
There will always be 'drama' with a bunch of people who have different personalities. It's just unavoidable- but of course not what this place was meant for.
I would never dream to tell you that your Coven is wrong for you or possibly not suitable- I think you are probably speaking in general terms about members. What I do know is- most of the Houses/Covens are different... and we all jive in different atmospheres.
If you want to know what this site is all about and why it was made- it's not for anyone to say but Cancer. He says it right here:
Vampire Rave and its History
A Real Vampire Rave
I registered the domain name VampireRave.com on November 11th 2000. At the time I was running VampireRadio.com.
Vampire Radio was at its peak. It had expanded into sponsoring many local events in the Phoenix, Arizona area. Mobil DJ gear was purchased and Vampire Radio put on several small concerts featuring area bands.
It was planned that Vampire Radio would further expand and start sponsoring Vampire Rave's in the area. I wanted to start by renting halls and then later move onto larger venues.
This project never came to fruition. On July 15th 2001 I performed my last episode of The Cancer Project. I stepped away from Vampire Radio for a bit. I put the assistant Station Manager in charge and I took a break.
In April of 2002 Vampire Radio closed completely. It was around this time that I started thinking about a new direction for the Vampire Rave project. I decided to create an all-inclusive database-driven website that cataloged every occurrence of the vampire throughout history in all media formats.
It was a big project and I wasn't anywhere near ready to begin. The issue was compounded in June of 2003 when I launched Acrimony, an alternative-gothic web magazine. Acrimony was soon taking up every moment of my free time.
Somehow, in June of 2004 I finally began working on Vampire Rave. I was still working on Acrimony at the time. However by October of 2004 I could no longer juggle both projects. I stopped working on Acrimony and I devoted 100% of my time to expanding Vampire Rave.
My original intent for Vampire Rave, although now somewhat on the back burner, still remains. It is my goal to have this site catalog every occurrence of the vampire throughout history.

I think that's plainly the reason for VR. No one can speak for him better than himself.
I thank you most of you for the sincerely enlightening post. You see I was under a misconception. Not Vampire Raves faults, or it members, I thought maybe there was a place where people could put aside human nature and just have bloody fun learning about the different aspects of one of the greatest myths, legend and subcultures, in the entire world.
But it is true, backstabbers are going to be backstabbers, and your friends are going to be your friends....I thank you all. Even the evil little thing who knows who they are.
I really love the Rave. Hell I have convinced my entire family to join....
thanks again. I know that you are going to want to close this thread.
but thank you for leaving it up long enough for me to get my questions answered.
I'd like to add;
I wasn't aware that the coven was anyones personal property, but in fact thought it to be Cancers exclusive right to allow the formation of the Covens.
It exists at his sufference, surely?
i agree with prettyviolence that i dont quite understand vr's real purpose, but i have enjoyed meeting the people i have met here and i like how easy the site is to use and the coven/house features, very well put together site
I would like to thank Imagineswords for her edit. That was Just for her and was not part of the discussion as I presented.
I do understand better that the community can as an off shot of the true purpose whhich is to catagorize all things vamipiric.
and I am sorry I didn't catch the name...
but yes you are right....
Site belongs to the Prince-Cancer.
and that includes all Houses and Covens and note that I never mentioned about house or covens in the start of this discussion.
I did not want this to turn into a dramatic free for all. I wanted to know about the community as a whole. If the Vampire Rave Community is supposed to mirror true Vampiric society or is it just a place
where some one the more subcultured of us can meet and realize that there are others like us.
granted I have a hard time with the cutting each others heart out just because you can....but if that is how the society is ran I wanted to know. as I can be as merciless as the next..
these are the questions that needed answered.....Sorry that I was a bit vague in the beginning .
Well, as I said before, you will get out of it what you put in.
What goes around really does come around here.
It is not intended to exactly duplicate any other facets of the wider community, but those that come here, bring with them those ideas and build them into a part of this whole.
Just to give you all a taste of how swteternity is really like..her message to me
thank you please pull forward and do pass go slut
