A kitchen witch is like a home maker but uses witch craft to help her/him.

I love terms like these, as they describe how people take mundane actions and make them into truly special things.

Other terms for kitchen witches are unlimited, some are healers, some actually put spells in their creations and others use it only for personal.

I like that it acknowledges that when we as a person put a bit of our soul into our work, it becomes magic in the truest sense of the word. It is not about anything else than our ability to manipulate our surroundings.

Yep, heard of the term when I was putting together a thread regarding the magick of Grandmas Chicken Soup... And yes, I agree with the above statement -- when you put your whole soul into your work (whatver it may be) it invokes a magick of its own.

Sadly, I may be considered a kitchen demon.

My Aunt was a "kitchen which". She had a tea or a sauve or an elixer for whatever ailed you. She would also make cleaning mixtures. She is the one who taught me to clean out the pipes with baking soda and vinigar instead of harmful Drano. It works better too. She could grow anything as well! Her vegetables always won prizes. She was an amazing woman.

I had heard of this term and have read a couple books relating to it, but I don't know enough to really talk about it without sounding like an idiot...

I don't really see where this thread is going. Is anyone able to expand on the discussion or is this a whole thread agreeing that the term refers to magically inclined homemakers?

I've heard of the term before. From my understanding, it is one of the names given for different areas that one specializes in.

well as a Kitchen witch.. or so I am told I am one lol. I disagree but...

I have two sets of pans and bowls and all that.. one I only use for makeing potions.. and anyhting else that requires me to mix herbs and or cook it. I tend to use alot of herbs in my spells.. uumm in fact I do not think I have ever cast a spell that did not have at least one.. usually more lol. ( they tell me I fall into the green witch area because of that as well.) My "spice" cabinet is by far better stocked than anyhting in my kitchen lol. And yes I am not above raiding the craft herbs to cook with or vice versa lol.

But if you think about it... spells are basically our intent.. our wishes.. our will focused. So if your makeing a meal and you put all your will for your family to have a good meal to enjoy the food and time spent together.. is this not a speel in and of itself.. I think that is what makes a Kitchen witch.. when we are doing something as simple as cooking we see the chance to add a bit of magic.. its not a special talent.. anyone can do it.. hence the Grandma's chicken soup thing. I think alot of people do this sort of thing without even being aware they do it.

The term kitchen witch is new to me but the description sounds like the standard pre-modern medicine midwife and is perhaps what led to so many midwives in history being accused of witchcraft.

I come across the term often. You can be a kitchen witch as a stand alone type focus or within wicca, there are those who call themselves kitchen witches. IMO, it goes back to what witches originally were in Europe - healers and midwives who knew how to make home remedies from herbs and plants.

I've heard about Kitchen Witches. Of course, silly me thought the term meant witches who are very skilled when they're in the kitchen, in terms of cooking meals and stuff. *laughs at herself* I'm glad I checked out this post because I just learned something new. Thanks for sharing this piece of knowledge with us!

I'm pretty sure I've seen the term "Green Witch" before. Not sure what it means - Google here I come!

OK, there really seems to be no new discussion here, so I am going to close this.
