I hear these two mentioned often, but what is the difference between a Sang and Psy vampire?

The word "sang" is short for sanguine, a blood drinking Vampyre. "Psy" refers to psychic, a Vampyre who feeds psychicly, taking energy.

The main difference I've noticed is how they feed and why.... If you go to freewebs.com and look up sang vampire it'll bring up psi also and it shows some of the differences....

The difference is as aforementioned AND HOW they feed.. and HOW they get their energy.

There are MANY different types of 'vampires'

There is much debate over whether a sang vampire is actually gaining anything truly from the blood or whether the blood simply forms the psychic bond and in fact makes them psy vamps as well. I believe the Strigoi Vii (Sanguinarium.net) has now stated officially that due to the issues of blood borne pathogens and the safety of blood letting / blood drinking, they have ceased all promotion of blood drinking and are now completely of a psy nature.

As Felix mentioned, blood drinking has become more and more of a dangerous art. You have to be so careful with all the blood-borne diseases these days.

I have spoken a few times with other members about the differences between sang and psy and also question the actual need to drink blood at all, as I simply believe that the blood forms a sympathetic link for what is truly lacking: life-energy.

There are those who claim to be sang vampires and drink blood from a blood bank, and the more I have debated over this issue, the less likely it seems that the energy that is the need of the vampire is actually in the blood that is already out of the body, frozen, and stored.

I personally believe that they are related to each other and are in fact the same thing. With the issue of diseases, the vampire has evolved to get to the real need without the blood being involved.

Both are vampires, they just go about getting their need fulfilled in a different manner.

And lets be honest, those who claim to be somehow stealing and drinking blood from a blood bank, could for all intents and likelihood be lying.

So is that all there is to it then? Well, okay, I have a new question now:

Are vampires born with this different set of needs or is it just a preferred lifestyle or interest? (Like, for example, a vampire decides they don't want to drink blood all their life so they decide to take energy instead. ???)

Well again that gets back to belief or faith in what someone is and whether the belief holds to a sang that uses blood for a connection or those that actually feel they gain something physically from the blood and not the person.

I have to say that much of what I see is lifestyle related. I know there are those who have a stronger spiritual belief to their identity and I wont argue with that but so much of 'feeding' is of a sexual nature to the majority of living vampires that I find it to be closely related to a mental fetish or blood play more than an actual sustenance of any kind taking place.

Again I tend to agree with Felix on this one. Most of it is lifestyle choice, but there are those, such as myself, who actually take the energy of others out of a need for life-energy due to our own lacking nature.

But a vast majority of people on this web site and those who dress the part are not truly vampiric in nature; they simply choose to have the lifestyle. And that's ok as well, but they are not required to live the life that the vampire lives.

I was just telling someone yesterday that this lifestyle is often a lifestyle of isolation, particularly once you get past the 20's where it's possibly seen as "cool" in social circles.
