I've heard about a lot of different things when it comes to vampire powers and weaknesses, now tell me which ones you think are real and fake. Make a list, if you please.

this is such a broad area to touch on i wish it was narrowed down a little so to have some detail on what powers and weaknesses you are referring to,it makes it kind of hard to answer.

I mean powers and weaknesses in general. If you've heard of a vampire possessing it, tell me if you think one may actually have it.

I think powers are heightened senses....as far as weaknesses go there are all the superstitions and myths like garlic, daylight, a cross....

alright..well i think the power of moving faster than the eye can see is fake and beyond being real and the gaining of energy through the consumption of blood i have to say i feel that to be real....i am curious what other powers and weaknsses there are that other individuals feel are real or fake as well.

As of yet, I beleive the same. I actually like garlic. I don't like the sun, but it's no both and crosses are just another religious sybol, hell, I was raised in the LDS church (Mormon).

That's not a vampire specific, I know many humans who have it. But it's a good idea. It's possible that everyone has one, they just need to unlock it.

the power of turning one into a vampire by biting..as much i would like to believe that to be real i think now days it is just a personal choice to be or not to be a vampire and i feel that one does not necessarily become a vampire in reality just by being bitten.

There's another thing. More people are vampire by choice, rather than blood. It's just become another popular phase. I know everyone says it, but I was a vampire before being a vampire was cool. I am not a vampire by blood, but that's because the overruling blood in todays world is human. The only thing you have to define you as a true vampire anymore is what you know to be true.
The turning by biting thing might have been possible in a long past day and age, but no more, If it was, it might account for the Vampire Venom theory. It's also been said that you must also drink from the vampire to turn. And a less common myth is that you have to accept the seed of a vampire to become one, but that means the only way to become a male vampire is to be born into it.
The one common factor is that after being bitten, the vampire gives something in return to make you turn. Perhaps there is some truth to this if we dig deep enough.

This IS a very broad subject. There are so many different powers and weaknesses to have.

Mind reading, telepathy, telekinesis, etc. Everyone has different abilities.

Yes, but I refer to Vampire specific. Something someone might have BECAUSE they're a vampire.

the only weekness that i thought vampires had was that if another vampire sucked all of the blood out of the other vampire then it would die. but thatz from a movie so i donno if its true

To drain all the blood of ANYTHING is death. But the death a vampire is only temporary. To revive a dead vampire, you pour blood on it. with it all in one space.

kazaar has a point, you take all the blood from qany creature it dies. strengths; ossible a hightend sence of smell and hearing? i think the weaknesses would be the same as for anyone to some degree. i mean a bullet is deadly to any one.

Piercing the heart of a true vampire will only stop it temporarily. If you remove the obstruction and drip some blood on it, it WILL be revived.

and if yo removed it??? it would be the same as a non vampiric person, death.

Not for a true vampire. Even burning it and scattering the ashes does not mean death. If someone can gather the ashes and bleed on them, the vampire will be revived.

decapatation? that is another way to "kill" a vampire, yet it will kill another as well.

My beliefs are this. A vampire can bite someone and possibly awaken the vampire within the individual they bite. That person thus is marked. As for the garlic thing, I love garlic, the smell does not deter me, but if I eat like any form of garlic it does burn my mouth a little, but it goes away. Vampires do heal quiker than most mortals do. I sustained a broken ankle and it was fractured all the way through, within 6 wks of being in a cast the doc was suprised at the x-rays as he could not even see where the break was ( physical therepy was a killer tho LOL), Crosses are not weaknesses, Hell I have a cross of jesus hanging over my bed. the myth that a vampire has to carry their native soil is mearly a myth. another thing I can think of is playing with minds.

Even decapitation can be healed.
And as for the next post, I agree with most of it. The native soil might have been true at one point, but now people are so diverse and have so many nativities that any soil is native now.

If their are true vampires, then all of the ways people would use to kill vampires or keep them away must have been usefull to some point, the only thing i never understood about killing a vampire was other than the sun killing them the other ways used to kill vampires could kill a human being also, and i do not believe that a vampire can turn to a mist, because if they could they would have no reason to turn to bats like myth say...

I don't think the mist os real, I think they did the bat think as it got misty to fool people. And I don't think they turn into one bat, instead a group of bats that matches the body mass. Which would be trouble is keeping up with the entire consiousness. Also, the reason people think they work is because the vampire will be subdued for a time untill some brave, young soul goes exploring centuries later only to get a cut and drip on the vampire.

I forgot to mention the Playing with Minds thing, it's possible for anyone to do it. But Vampires might have some power that lets them cloud peoples minds, making it easier for them. As for the sunlight, that probably came around from most vampires attacking by night, because it's easier to stay covered and it just adds some image. (Everyone likes style to some extent.) Geting entirely used to night, when they see light as bright as the sun, they shrink away because it hurts their unaccustomed eyes.

I was being vampire specific too, lol. Who's to say exactly what kind of powers and weaknesses vampires have in the first place?

Like I said before, everyone is different and is going to have different abilities.

I have to say this, a common power beleif is flight in humanoid form. I think it's false, but some vampires might have had specialized capes that let them glide.

I would think that is false as well, I wasn't implying that vampires could fly in "humanoid" form, LOL.

It's often said that they can change to a giant, humanoid bat or use the cape to fly or something.

I'm thinking their powers would be greater strength, heightened senses..weaknesses....i think if someone loved them totally for what they were and not because of it..this might be conceived as a weakness.

... That's an interesting way to think. Love has a power greater than all others.
In japanese coulture, the death god, or Shinigami, can only die two ways. 1. If the time alloted is over and they don't write in the notebook given to them to add to their time or, 2. If they fall in love with a human, then use the power they have to save a human.

I believe we all have the same weeknesses and we all have some powers! It is just a matter if you know how to tap into your powers. Be it being telepathic, or a healer, or empathic...we all have something.

That's an interesting thought, daemona. But it must be disproved by the Hightened Senses power. Not everyone can use their senses, and even more have weakened senses.
Not everyone has all the power.

vampires and their eyes..the gift oh hypnotism i believe it is real but also i do not believe every vampire can do it like the mythic legends say.

THat reminds me of the "Able to control people of the opposite sex from a distance." I think that's a form of telepathy, they cloud the minds and convince them what they want to do.

actually if the ashes of the vampire are spread all over u can't bleed on them to bring them back unless ur a vampire and also if u drink all the blood of a vampire not only will the vampire di u will turn into stone because u drank the last drop. and though stabbing it in the heart wont work it will work temperarally so that u can take the heart out but dont remove the stake from the heart till its destroide b/c the vampire can be revived after its heart heals. also The vampire's aversion to sunlight has proved a serious vulnerability, and the best hope of destruction.

the power of dead persons blood being poison to a vampire i would only think it was true and do not want to even attempt to prove that it isn't..

Everyone has their own opinions. I personally think that yo pay too much attention to the media if you think that.

i do not think it matters what one person believe or what another person believe,it is purely personal opinions and beliefs and although i find everyones opinions quite interesting what it comes down to is what matters is your own personal views and opinions about the current subjects at hand.

vampires-the power to say young and to never age i thin now days that is purely myth but i think maybe it might have been somewhat possible long ago and also the power to heal when cut i think some individual vampires do possess that ability or regeneration.

I would have to agree. I personally heal faster if I've drunk some blood recently.

I think all of this stuffs are myths, to feel that u are getting healed faster just because u drunk blood is just a psychologic thing, but it`s not real, it`s totally unlogic that u will be healthy sooner if u drink blood.

Well that depends on the practices of the individual. Their personal preferences are in relation to the traditions that they make for themselves. Varying much on what is possible.

true personal prefferance is important but seperating what is fact from what is fiction in the long run will be what determines on what is real and what is not i do know that many individuals let their imagination run wild.

I like to keep an open mind while I research and use the process of elimination.

With what you said about you do not believe a vampire turns into one bat but a group of bats that matches the body mass i disagree, i mean it would be to easy for a hunter to kill a vampire with many bats flying around, all the hunter would have to do is catch one of the bats to kill the vampire, now if the vampire turned into a single bat it would be harder to catch him...

Fake ( I believe): Garlic, holy water, crosses, sunlight.

it sounds a little far fetched to me to be honest i in actuality do not think a vampire can transform in such a manner,maybe on t.v. but i do not think it is possible in real life sounds a bit fiction to me.

Powers: (true) strength, skills of many kinds, speed, agility....... (fake) turning into bats and smoke

Weaknesses: (fake) garlic, holy water, stake through heart....... (true) sunlight, flowing water

Half of the things you haer about vampires are made up by hollywood to make a good movie, and the other half of the things you hear about the myth of vampires have to come from somewhere, i personally was not around when these myth were told but they had to have some vein of truth to them, i honestly can not say if their are real vampires or not, because i am not a vampire but i never doubt anything in life...

It depends on what you describe as a power....

The ability to see through mirrors to people,

The being able to subsume spirits.

Being able to astrally project in two places at once.

Having spiritual entities originating off this plane, doing what ever task i set to them.

With the weakness being that I die one day?

I have heard that different weakness and strengths are of different bloodlines. Like you devlope the skills that the one that has bitten you and your mentor if you have one helps develope them. That just makes me wonder, if a vampires have the same powers but can only develope what they are taught.

From my studies (movies, books, novels,) here are the most.. realistic power i believe to be in the vampire nature, The ability to view auras this in the place of common thought telepathy, the ability to read emotion, guile(ability to remain unseen, shadow etc, heightened strength and night vision, thats all nature has graced them with. weaknesses are more limited, garlic thins the blood making i easier to drink so that theory is out the window, crosses only have power if you believe they do (the vamp i mean) and the sun thing is just dumb, they sleep during the day so they can stay awake at night, congratulations i know people that work 3rd shift that do the same thing, and the reason light hurts them (migraine not setting on fire) is simply because they are not used to it, they stalk at nigh remember, you stay in the dark enough and you dont like light either.

RavenKnight, about the Bat Thing. Killing one bat would not nessicerally kill the entire being. It's possible that that bat just lays around "dead" untill the vampire finds it and puts it back into itself.
