Has anyone seen anything dealing with a child being born with a caul, a portion of the amnionic sack that forms around the child's head? Some legends impart positive qualities, having the gift (psychic abilities / witchcraft), while others impart negative qualities (marked by a demon / tendency toward vampirism) to a child born with one.

I remember my Grandmother telling me those who were born with , she called it a veil over their face. Was a baby that was born of pychic ability.

What legends have people heard relating to a child being born with a caul, sir? Both positive and negative relations ships to birth with one.

I've never heard of it prior to this. I can see how, since it's a rare thing, it could be interpreted as either a gift or a curse...I say that it's most likely just science, nothing mystical...but then again, you never know.

Asking if anyone has heard of something, resulting in a yes or no answer, rarely produces a discussion of worth.

Will comply, sir. I will ensure that I phrase questions in a more open ended fashion so there is more room for discussion. I heard of relationships with magickal ability and being born with a caul. I was wanting to make a compilation of legends on the effect of being born with a caul has on the individual or the effect of carrying one would be. One legend relates to a caul being used as a good luck implement much as a rabbit's foot by sailors. Thank you for your patience.

my uncle was born with a caul and yes he does have a gift. Plus is very highly intelligent. when you ask him how he knows these things . He answers i dont know must have learned it in a previous life. He is a wonderful man no demon in him.

The birth Caul or Veil is a full face mask which may be sometimes found covering the face of a child at birth. Such births are rare and hold special significance for the child born in such a manner. There are many stories and myths about the Caul, many of them erroneous. The correct name for those who are born with a Caul is a Caulbearer. Such people are often referred to as being born behind The Veil, as the Caul is also referred to as The Veil in many cultures due to it being a face covering.

It should be noted that Caulbearers may be male or female and may come from any social class, racial or religious group. There are no geographical boundaries to the phenomenon. However it has been observed that Caul births do have tendencies to run in family bloodlines. Sometimes, but quite rarely, more than one member of a family--usually a parent and child--may be born with a Caul.

It has been calculated that Caulbearer births may be as few as one in eighty thousand births. well it cause sphycic powers to those born tho its so very rare a new-born child has it. The most common reason it is said to be the mark of the devil is what religious folks seem to think sphycic powers are said to be evil and of the devil thus marking it as a curse to the people that serve the one all powerful god.

I vaguely remember reading something once about a caul being good luck, as well as something that a person would give to their betrothed, essentially as part of a dowry. It was a fictional book, but I imagine it was based off of some sort of legend. I think these like this can go either way on the good luck/bad luck beliefs depending on the times. At one point any one who was left handed was considered 'cursed', and now they say leftys tend to be more creative. Go figure, lol.

A child born as a caulbearer is considered either with great revence as having spiritual or great insight and to be heald in great regards of the people * in certain cultures, YET, in other cultures they are usually either banished or killed befor ethe first year of their birth has came around.

I have a cousin who is a cauldbearer they are very gifted and senitive to others emotions and feelings, plus if she tells you she foresees something then you best take heed in what she say it usually happens.

But she lives a very simple quiet life cause many do not understand, just like handicap people our society just are not always friendly.

I myself feel it is just a gift that some are born with when they have the caul/veil over them. just an opinion is all.
