Yes I know I've made a thread similar to this before, but that was ages ago, and this time I'd like to consider a new factor.
This is for those who believe in reincarnation as a possibility for what happens after death, and channeling as a means of contacting someone who has passed on. No thoughtless answers please.
The original query being, how can you channel a spirit, if we go on into a new life and body after we die? If the spirit we are contacting is reborn into a new body and a new life, does that mean we are somehow contacting the soul of a living person/other creature? If so, can the person/creature tell that it's soul is being channeled? Is this perhaps a form of telepathy? Do our souls work on a different level from our conscious minds, and within the soul's memory do we have our past selves recorded, and able to be channeled by those now living?
Also, say for argument's sake that you wanted to contact the spirit of someone who passed on before you were born, and you are the reincarnation of that person, although of course you do not realise this. Are you still able to seek the information you were after, or can it be done only by another medium? Would you become aware that you were... talking to yourself?
Have you ever felt anything that might be described as someone channeling you? Or if a living person's soul is channeled, would they be completely oblivious to it happening? Cripes that was alot of questions.
The thing is that reincarnation and channeling are both things which are generally believed in by most people with an interest in the paranormal, ie: us on VR.
These two things conflict and cannot coexist unless there is some other explanation for it, one being that this is a form of telepathy.
So tell me, what do you think?
Im not sure how to channel a spirit but im hoping that someone in this tread might mention how.If a person is reborn i think they may need to contact a person or creature to do so.But i think most oftenly they try to contact a person. As far as telepathy goes i believe reincarnation could be classified in that category.I think that most of us do have a past life. But wether or not we can ever remember our other life depends on how in tune we are with our new body.
Hi CherryAdvocaat,
I think that I understand your reasoning in coming to this current conclusion, but I hope I might offer you a possible explanation, if we take those two concepts as real experiences, and look at theories of the whole nature of the 'being' that we are.
We are physical and we are still energy, that much we can prove. But what is the soul?
A loaded question, since it's still the greatest mystery of philosophy. How can we reconcile that we are able to think with simple proof of our selves?
Where do thoughts and dreams come from? What is our imagination and how do we realise it?
Does the body create a combination of electrical signals, which form a thought?
I suppose the ultimate question here is 'where does the mind exist?'
If we could suppose that we have eternal souls, then they are not bound by our flesh, so we could logically deduce that they are energy, the same that gives us direction, but different from the 'basic' flow that motivates us and holds us together.
What holds this energy form together must be our sense of identity, our id, so when we are between physical lives, where can we say that this energy is? Does it go back to a great pool of oneness, or does it dissipate into nothingness?
Or perhaps it retains some sense of who we are, even if we are joined with all others who are not alive.
Maybe even we are joined with those both alive and dead, but more wholly.
When we are alive, we radiate our energy. If auras are real phenomena, perhaps they extend 'out' far past just the regions that are supposedly perceived (see Kirlian).
Perhaps those living auras reach into the same place as those who are not physically alive. Perhaps even we exist in that place as well as here in the now of reality.
When we become incarnate in a new form, we may have an existant link to this place, a sort of 'greater self' which isn't able to be fully acknowledged within the mind we hold here and now.
So when channeling to another, perhaps it is still channeled to that other, but where it still exists outside of life, or space, or time.
Personally I don't think you'd be able to channel information at all if that soul has been reincarnated. If the soul had been reincarnated into you and you tried to contact it, I think you could still contact it though, because really you'd just be looking deep inside yourself for the answers. Whether you realize it or not.
Great question(s) though :)
Cheers Stabb :) yes that was a great post. This bit...
"Perhaps even we exist in that place as well as here in the now of reality."
..made me think; maybe we do exist on more than one 'plane' (or however you'd like to term it) at a time, that's another completely feasible explanation.
Time is the answer I would give.
I think the ones who are close to us do not actually reincarnate until such time as all of the 'group'.....family/friends etc have passed.
I believe in our energy lasting forever in whatever type of state., so i also think that it should be very possible to tap into that energy in some way like channeling. Also with reincarnation its not hard to believe that they would feel you channeling them in some way because you are trying to tap into the same energy.
