I know imitation is the greatest of flatteries, but I'm hoping a certain someone knows they're committing theft of -my- work by copy/pasting my work.
Interesting topic, Nara. I think if you don't take advantage of copyfied informations for example to earn money, everything is all right. Don't say it's your ideas., if it isn't true...
Considering the poem is in the poetry section, I think I kind of have the right to be a -tad- bit protective.
Ok. I was uneasy putting any of my prose works up on the site to begin with ... I am just that paranoid. But, after that person tried to get away with taking Cherry's pictures and now this .... No. I am not putting anything more up than I already up in my profile. Those HAVE been published in printed media, so I have more than a leg to stand on if someone decides to cop them. So, my apologies to those who wanted to read my short stories. I'll think about sending a few in an email, Melody and Jason.
I have a sugestion....
In future, who is cought copyrighting someon elses work should be kicked out of VR
that wouldnt really work since they could just come back with a different name
Hmm Nara go for the neck girl! In the UK the law is the same as the US. It is assumed if there is no @ that the author gives up ownership of their work, unless it has appeared before in printed media.
For me I only have two pieces in VR that is not copyrighted, as the rest have appeared in print prior to being displayed on here.
it was notv a solution, just a sugestion...
The law can`t prevent it ,so i think that we can`t neither.
Don't know if this will be helpful or not, but if you go to writing.com and set up an account there, your work is copyrighted to your name. Online at least. And it would give you proof that you wrote it and all.
Hmm... thank you, PhoenixTempest. I'll go of and do that, then.
What pisses me of most is the moron didn't even spell the title correctly-- which is 'their' quote.
It is always up to the copyright holder to defend their copyright. If you do not, it will be looked at from a legal standpoint that you have given up your copyright. This is why the music labels are fighting vehemently against the peer-to-peer networks.
Registering with the library of congress can be costly. A "poor man's copyright" will hold up in court. Print out your work, then send it to yourself via registered mail. Do not open it. If you ever go to court the date on the unopened envelope will serve as evidence as to when your wrote the work.
True, but I'm in the works of putting a manuscript together of my works, and possibly seeing if I can get it officially published.
I'm a little weary of posting more poetry myself. I do not want anyone in any way shape or form to infringe on my work that I've posted.
A friend of mine mails anything he writes to himself registered mail.....and leaves it unopened....it is the poor man copywrite as it is date stamped proof of an original
I sent the certain person a message through the private message center. Now, let's see if I get a emssage back.
-Yes-.
...and if this person ignores the fact I said it wasn't nice to steal my poetry, then I'll send another warning.
