There's a new link in the Main Menu - Journals.
I debated whether or not to post this page yet, as it isn't done... But I figured ya'll would want a head start.
Right now that page is an alphabetical listing of users who have set up Journals and written in them... And it links straight to each users Journal page.
Much more is planned for that page... A better layout, Journal searching, and page tracking similar to what The Forum has.
After that page is completed, I plan to compose a similar page for Portfolios.
I am having trouble accessing a journal entry for Pandora. She invited me to read a poem; it shows 0 enteries, but she did enter a poem. Is it something with the system, or my cache??
Well, I don't see it... Which means it isn't there.
A word of warning.
As many of you have discovered the hard way, if you idle too long here, the system signs you out. So don't be composing any hour-long masterpieces in your Journal. Compose in a text editor on your computer, and then paste into your Journal.
With a text editor you can spell check, and you'll have a backup copy if something goes wrong.
Couldn't that have been a system message like... BEFORE my profile was jacked? ROFLMAO
Just kiddin', darlin'.
*snrk*
Btw... proud of the proper usage of 'Ya'll'..
Good man.. *wink*
*holds the bridge of her nose*
Yankees.
The proper form of the word is "Y'all" -contraction of you + all (usage is both singular and plural).
Yes, I know Vriginia isn't technically yankee country, Khayman, but I had to have SOME word to cover the both of y'all.
*snrk*
Virginia*
What bad timing for a typo *snort* but oh, so appropriate.
heh A typo for you my dear Requ is how my son actually pronounces that state. He calls it Vreeeeginia. So, in Alex speak, it wasn't a typo.
If ya'll (not y'all) was a contraction (actual) of you and all it would be spelled youa'll or youa'l.
The first word is always spelled in its entirety, and there are no contractions that have vowels after the apostrophe.
SOrry, Cancer, but Merriam Webster (at the link below) says the following:
One entry found for y'all.
Main Entry: y'all
Pronunciation: 'yol
variant of YOU-ALL
And does not recognize ya'll.

uh oh Req... i'm hiding... lol good one there for real though Req :P
Uh naw, down south the'y in Gorga when ev'a we usses the word You all we just said y'll forgtet the a , do know what it's fer...Hey I'm FIXIN ta go ta the stoe, anyone wana com?...
Ok, I am from the South and that took some work for me to decipher in text LOL
:)
the funnest thing is I'm really from Chicago, my favorite line when I lived down there was "U ain't from 'rond here is ya?"
Well ya'll ain't gonna change da way i been learned to speak.
LMAO
Damn that was country and the bad part is i have heard someone say it HA
here here, I never could understand why in the south they're always "fixin" to do this or "fixin" to do that, where I'm from, "fixin" is something you do to something that is broken...LOL
I've had fun poking through people's journals, the poetry and story ones moreso than the personal entry ones.
This is a neat idea! It gives a great way to put stuff out there for people to read if they choose.
I can't wait to see how far it takes off.
*laughs* I just wonder when your all gonna make fun of us canadians saying About .. (-its not said a boot where I am lol)
LOL actually I think it's kinda cute the way y'll say aboot...LOL
roflmao @ Nic... i wasn't gonna say nuttin... but since ya brought it up newayz... how aboot we take it to da limitz lol :P
see it just amuses me cuz about isnt said aboot or aboat ... if it were spelt phonetically its A Bow tuh ....the T being the 2nd sound of the letter as in the short sound ... so kinda like in the phraise "A Round About Way" *shrugs* I just get amused when canadians get bashed for the way things are said ... and I've visited the states a lot and I myself find amusement in how things are said differently :)
This tickles me how his thread on the journal feature has turned into a primary school english class.
ROFL
This is too funny.
But just for good measure...
I used to work at an optical store and a fellow and his elderly mother had come in to get services done, ect...whatever. ANYWHO... I had said to the lady... "Honey, you jus com'n sit over here..k? I go gitcha some frame ta look at, k?"....
Her son looked absolutely DISGUSTED!
"My mothers name is NOT 'honey' ..."
I cant remember the name so this will have to do for now..
"Her name is *MRS* Jones.. and you would have known that had you bothered to ask."
Ok... mother is the PICTURE of a deep south 'Big Mamma' (god knows i love a 'big mamma'... them women can cook and sing forever and i'd still be on the front porch with a glass of tea in my hand waitin for the next song and round o' greens...GOD BLESS SOUL FOOD!)...
And here is her son... New York Aristocrat.
:/
She slapped him upside the back of the head and told him
"She bein' nice, BOY.. you just sit down a wait... Im doin bidnes with this sweet thing. And for your information, YOUNG MAN, you in da south now... EVERYONE is honey, sugar, darlin' or baby... Ya' Hear?!? nAH GIT USED TO IT AND SIT DOWN..."
God Bless Big Mammas thw world over...
You know... I intended for certain spelling and gramatical errors...
And some I did not..

Hey Pixie told me that Oklahoma has their own dictionary and when i get it i'm going to put all kinds of insanity in here MUWAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's not a word. I'm not budging on this.
Just because a dictionary editor decides to include a word, doesn't make it a part of formal English. It's common vernacular, which essentially means it is an informal word. No different than ebonics.
Just try and float ya'll in a college paper past a professor...
It's "Y'all" and I have, and supported it with the university library's OED.
At this point, I will agree to disagree with you, for the sake of peace.
Why yes.................yes i am*gigantic evil grin*
