"...a persistent and invasive low-frequency humming noise not audible to all people."
Reports of these humming noises have come to surface all over our planet. People have attributed these noises to electronics, meteors, and even volcanoes. I would also venture to say some people think it's 'supernatural', or even 'God' speaking to them.
There was a popular case of this in Taos, New Mexico, and it is referred as the "Taos Hum". People say it can be so bothersome as to even interrupt sleep and drive them crazy. So, there's no doubt it exists. The question is, 'what' is it really?
What do you think this nose is? Possibly this noise is easily explained away, and instead is being understood as other-worldly?
i would dought the noise or hum as you say would be natural made, i think it is more likely the resulte of something man made
a company makes a device used at some stores, it is a sound projector, and it can be adjusted to be heard only by teenagers. I have not heard anything specific about this topic. I do study noise pollution though.
I dont think its easily explained, and some top scientists have looked into it before with now findings. But one thing to consider, the Earths crust is thin there...if Im not mistaken ,one of the thinnist places on the planet. And,with all the ancient volcanic activity..well,maybe it has something to do with that.
Or perhaps its connected with Los Alamos.I just dont know.I've had friends complain about it though, and they started going up to Mammoth instead of Taos on their vacations.
I wonder if they have solved the source of the wailing wall?
There is a cave called Moaning cave, a pressurized wind in a crag can produce a "whistle" like sound. Or even a drone.
I was just getting ready to post something similar Dab..only I was thinking of the singing tree...Some kind of natural formation that produces the sound with wind .
There is also a tree that when the right conditions are met the sap "squeals".
i am just wondering if it is a case of Tinnitus. My friend's boyfriend has it, noises that he hears constantly.
My guess would be the sound of air or water rushing through underground caverns, at least in New Mexico. There are plenty of them there where the Hopi came from.
You can tell the difference between a natural hum and a man made hum. I live in a windy area and when the wind rushes through at times it sounds like a hum yet you can tell that it is nature.
I have experienced this...but it was always at the mall where a lot of televisions were at. It always gives me a headache from hell.
It's probably a matter of personal opinion, really. I myself have never experienced it, but for some reason it has me thinking of areas that have vortexes(like Sedona, Arizona). The buzzing COULD be from electronics - all of the electromagnetic energy. Or it could be natural energy that is actually being heard.
I personnally have not heard this but I am sure that you could tell between a man made and a natural hum.
i think its electronics causing the hum. It also can be ungraound caverns that it could be coming from
When I hear that low pitched hum I just turn off all the electric appliances in my room. Such as my computer and TV. it goes away after that. So definitely man made. I hear a persistant ringing in my ear all the time! Thus why I can not sleep without a fan on.
Hey to all you people that come onto this thread and say, "I've never heard of this, but here is what I think"...what is up with that? That is not even an opinion...its not even a guess, its just some random thing you are saying. Quit being so lazy or dont post.
Google the topic, it only takes like two seconds and its a "famous" issue, lots of hits come up for it. The problem with what those of you who are just throwing crap out there are saying is that its obviously already been said AND disproved.
They cant figure out the source, they have tried. These "hum" sources are all over the world. How do you get a man made source in the middle of a desert? Tinnitus, thought to be the cause (and a darn good guess), doesn't match up...some people only hear the hum and dont react with anything else. Once they are out of "range" it goes away.
Anyway, it is a fascinating little problem here on planet earth, its worth 5 minutes of your time to read about. Or if you cant read well, get someone to read it to you.
i dont know but bees seem to be dropping dead, the two may very well have a common link. my first guess is not supernatural, but worthy of investigation no less.
I don't know but.. and all those non commiting phrases are very annoying actually. Usually found in statements made by people who are seeking to have a set agenda paraded about. They are not interested in any variety of explainations, or even actually proven sources, they just want someone to say.." Oh it is super natural." The dismissing of all other options for explainations is further proof. For example, echoing foot steps.. are just that echoing foot steps.. but tell a person that says they are followed home by a ghost that and they will likely reply, "I have heard echoing foot steps, this case is not echoing foot steps."
I like the matters that where once actually "unexplained", that are rehashed. Yet people fail to see if the "mystery" has been updated with current findings. Research, on a computer? For and against an assumed Phenomena.. ? Say, can that be done?
Oh wait..did I miss something? actually,I dont think Ive heard anyone yet proclaim it was supa natural Dab..And all of the suggestions so far ,we have the medical and the geological.
But wait..you jumped the gun , but not too far..because the bees dropping dead? LOL You do know what is thought about the Torsion field yes? And it pretaining to Bees?
I just HAD to lay that one on you!
Ok I did..forgot the electromagnetics had been brought up too.
Yes,that is very true. But what their are saying about the Torsion is that it is the same field that accounts for the Beehive mentality so on and so forth...but wont go into it here.
Funny. I remember the reports about the hum and all the things they attributed it to. Here in New Mexico, I don't believe we ever "got to the bottom of it". Considering there are 2 labs here of note, one not terribly far from Taos, I would say that its likely manmade.
I have heard og the hum too in Mexico. But i havent heard of it lately. Did they really find out what was causing it?
It is possible that it is a nature generated noise. Any combination of the tides, movements of the earth's crust, a resonance from wind blowing across the tops of mountains or across a canyon.
In New Mexico, under ground streams apply as well, if i am not mistaken.
I think with all the electrical devices we have now adays it has to interfere with some aspect. I think our hearing gets very sensitive and at times so much we can hear finer levels which causes us to hear things we havent in the pass.
I have heard of this. My Dad works with environmental waste and works in Los Alamos quite often. He has clearance to go to the secret places, but everything is so secret. I will ask him if he has experienced the hum.
Everything is secret. And they wonder why people start getting worried. If they come out and tell us what is happening then there wouldnt be mass mayham all the time.
Well and also keep in mind that this happens in certain places all over the world, so while I respect the point you are making Genesis, I would then have to wonder if the same types of labs or plants were say in Bristol, England: another place that has a "hum". And CryingDutchess, yeah...hop along and find that book gimpy...that sounds fascinating =)
Here is a website with a sound sample of the hum and other links, and info.

I put the hum in here. Let me know if it irritates you and I will remove it! ;)
Do the people who live in the area hear it or is it just visitors. I mean have the locals become use to it and as such it doesnt affect them.
Well from what I have read, they hear it and it just drives some crazy. Hell, it would me! Just hearing it on this page is enough for me. ;)
I think that if this day and age it can not be absolutely pinpointed as to what it is... thinking it's 'out of this world' is not such a stretch.
will to start i live in New Mexico but I am not sure about the Hum in Taos I have not hear of it but will go down and see if i hear it .
RR? That would be a great idea, if Taos isn't too far -- you could be the VR guinea pig... That is, if you wouldn't mind coming back here to be debriefed... Ah, I love how we're spread out all over the place here!
Got a haunting in Alaska, poof! We have VR members in the area; New York? No problem! Louisiana! Ha! Don't get that list going... Sorry, just pleased and amazed at how widespread our community is.
*starts humming in her head*
I spent three months in Taos learning to make Native American sand cast jewelry. During that time I thought I heard a humming noise, I had to ask my teacher what the noise was after awhile because it was weird. She told me it was always there, ever since anyone could remember, and that was at least 100 years.
