im having a seance this weekend. any tips on how to make it a successful one would be most welcome! thnxs!

I'd suggest learning some decent banishing spells first, along with casting protections and haveing a charm or two.. no ouijui board or the like, you have no control over what comes calling if anything/one decides to pay attention (hence the banishing spells and protections)

also..be excessively polite, have a little offering, the last think you want is to piss off something akin to a Baron ;) although..if is is a baron that awnsers best keep some high quality rum and a couple ciggs on hand..also resist the eurge to slap if a little frisky this spirit gets

should also have some offerings on hand.. a bit of food and drink don't need much, and don't skimp in getting the cheap stuff its quility all the way, it's simply being a good host to your guest

do seance really work? and if so how do you know

I thought it was bad to do a seance during a new moon. Am I wrong?

I was 14 the first time my psychic Aunt held one. It was a serious deal, Protection is cast first and Cancer is right again(No surprise) Have a specific spirit in mind to contact and be sure to *close* any doors you open in the minds of your guests!

I think it is if your calling out to something strong like azriel(death) or of high power, cause you'll get a memick that try's to addict you, maybe cling on to your personality. Kinda like a phy vamp, can lead to a lot of problems. Darkempress you need to meditate in front of a mirror or bowl of water/black ink and write down your exact intentions. Its also not wise to attemp if you or your peers have any mental dissabilities, I sugget not to be present (i have never held one) but what I understand it's something that should not be taken litely.

i know this is something not to take lightly, you are contacting the unknown. the reason i want to prepare to hold a seance is because i want to contact my grandmother. i never got to say good bye and she was like my second mother, also because i have many questions that stil lremain unanswered and i am afraid they will forever stay that way unless i can speak to her once more.

Ohhhh a seance!! I havent had one in ages! I used to do my with the ouija board. I have had some bad experiences and some good ones too. I havent used it in a very long time. lol but with the people that say no no to them. I might be a little scared to break it out..

get some sage and burn it all around after you are finished. cleanses the air. if you get any inclination of an unfriendly, let go, send it away....as with ouija. ive been involved with ouija for about 18 years. have nothing more to do with it, no more energy. obviously...ha.....;) my reiki teacher did one a few weeks ago. i can find out some if you are interested. let me know.....may the force be with you. ;)

It's sounds as though you will need a good few people to set it all up (but i guess there will be) , by the time you have done all the prep work, that will of burned up alot of energy, unless your rich, haha.. then get your sevants to set it all up... How many people is recomended to do a seance with?? does it make a difference? i mean if you had 13 people around the table would it be better?

A couple of responses...

LadyDarque - Technically it is not bad to perform a seance during a new moon. However, other aspects associated with a new moon may come into play. I find myself, as a cancer, sometimes weaker during the new moon to first quarter. The moon is a cancer's ruling planet.

There is an entire science associated with the moon... Times to cast, to plant, etc. Personally I have found no worth in any of it. But the moon does greatly control those of the sun sign cancer (and those with the moon in ascendency or other positions).

dellamore - You bring up some good points. Never have 'weak' people around during any type of spiritual activity, seances or summoning especially. Those of weak mind can become possessed.

Dhampir - The number of people at a seance is important to a degree. If the participants are strong, fewer are needed (or none). In some cases however, participants will actually drain the energy from the seance. In these cases more people are necessary to offset the imbalance.

DarknessBound - For the situation and purposes you have put forth, I would not recommend a seance. Read my first post in this thread. It will more likely accomplish what you want.

Im with dellamore and crazywolf, you need to be careful with what you are doing, as the inplications may not be obvious to our eyes.

However, I find these things fascinating too, and I wish you all the best of luck whatever you chose to do.

thank you. i decided to go with what cancer suggested though, meditation....i dont want to put my friends in danger if i dont cast the protection spell correctly or i do soemthing and mess up & endanger them in any way.

I'd love to throw my two-cents in this one. When I was a teenage, my friends, all living in separate individually haunted houses held a seance with an ouija board, it took "YEARS" to calm 'it' down enough to get our lives back on track. Yes it is possible for something new to form if you are just messing around. Please heed all advice!
