what is the most disturbing part of being a vampire? I spose there are many cons to all the pros, but the one that i think would bother me the most is the living forever. i can do without the sun and the blood isnt so bad, but night after night after night might tend to get old after a few hundred years. what will/would bother you?

i suppose this all sort of depends on what different people think are the "abilities" of a vampire.

some people think that vampires are just a tad uncomfortable in the sun, only dieing if they stay there for an entire day or similar

personally, it's the immortality. but given the situation.... i.e. you've just been turned either by your choice or not. you'd probably learn to just deal with it.

most ppl think of a vampire as the myth simbol as seen on the movies or described in the fiction.well some things just exist and are real but not as seen on the movies or books.I can't say very much but I know a person who has a great knowledge of the truth about vampires.Anyway if I was a vampire like the movies I would enjoy it.I would be sad only cause I couldn't go to the beach:p but the rest I would love it:P

With a lifespan effectively thousands of years what a few hundred ? To the rest of the world time has horredous effects though.

oh yes and the immortality thing,I would love the idea of living foreever without getting old:)

There are disadvantages to being a vampire so far no one has given one.Being a vampire is not for the weak willed.Most will go mad from it ..

there are two examples of immortality i can think of. both have ways of dying.

Elves (LOTR elves) they live forever yet appear to age, but an axe to the back will kill them.

Vampires, not sure about the aging... would they look young forever? would they look older if they had a lack of blood like Dracula as he appeared to get younger the more he fed. but they can be killed too.

Ok..vampires...disadvantages...Referring to Anne Rice's vampires...they can't have sex..yeah..sad truth...Referring to Dracula (and all other STEREOTYPE vampires) NO reflection in the mirror (bad for narcissistics like moi!)

i would say it would be a disadvantage to keep taking energy from others to suffice my own.

No warm summer days, no waking up to the nirds twittering outside, living forever, seeing everyone i know and love die around me. It would be horrible but i guess after a while you'd learn to live with it.

Sunlight is a definite Disadvantage. We lose our powers during the daylight hours and our eyes become sensitive to the light.

It is so much more than that, on so many levels. You feel emotions on higher levels; love, pain, anguish, joy, etc. The sun could put more than a lil' botch on social life. Does it take long exposure to kill, no. Does it render you powerless, you do the math. Unfortunately 'the sleep' is real to a lot of us.

Either I have way too much time on my hands to study this stuff, or I'm a severe nerd.

How can you tell what are the disadvantages of being a vampire from a position of a human?! You were all saying what you wouldn't like from a perspective of a human! To be in the sun, to have sex, to have a problem of being immortal,... those are all human needs, you don't know if a vampire would need the same things! For example, when I'm really depressed I act as an energy vampire, people can stand being around me, even though I don't want to do that, I'm doing it, I drain even though I don't like to do that and I feel better when doing that and I don't think about it when I'm doing it. It would be the same question like asking a stork what are disadvantages of being a human and she answers:"well, not eating frogs would really suck!"

ive noticed like if im in chats and it gets really heated, i draw in that type of energy and it makes me laugh and i feel the warmth. I don't know why but even when im the angry one, i feel a lot of heat being built up.

in a funny way, i see myself as a pokemon named charizard. Things seem a little boring until something sparks my interest and that's when he gets all fired up and stuff, like when he sees a good challenge. I'm kinda like that. LOL

feeding off energies does give one a high feeling and i think that most that have learned this ability do it mostly because of how it feels to them and that can pose a problem for others that need the energy themselves. Is that better? lol

I don't know if I really see a disadvantage to being a vampire. I see how it might get boring living forever. But you would be able to see alot of stuff and you would gain alot of knowledge. So I don't think it would be boring. I would not mind at all.

again, living forever has the problem of loved ones that die. but i think if one can accept that death is a part of life it would be easier.humans cope with death one way or another, why would it be that much harder for a vampire? this may sound like a cliche but just because someone isnt there in a body, their spirit will always be with u... i think a vampire would only go "mad" if they create their own prison. skills to survive will sharpen through time... if they are lucky enough to find someone that would love them till the end of time, well, then there would be no more alone. if i were immortal (after i have kids) i would love to see my great grandkids have kids a grow up... etc immortal isnt so bad...

I agree that blood diseases is somehting that people dont really seem to think about to often when wrapping themselves up in the mysticism of vampries, however, immortality (I started a thread about it ages ago, but it will be around somewhere) is somwehting that I dont know whether I would want.

The way I see ti, is that we utilize animals on a mass scale for our own delectation, and see ourselves as gifted with the superiority to mess aorund with the habitats that animals where supposed to live in, and afterall, so many humans prey on eachother anyway...

I think that the thing that would bother me the most is not being able to tell others about yourself. Most humans have the need to kill what they don't understand. i hate to be the unlucky one that chose to confide in the wrong person. And loneliness over the time would eat at me.

Watching everyone and everything that you love grow old, die. And you do not share their fate. You could love, you could live with humans, but, eventually, you still have to say goodbye to all that you know.

And I am sure that you could live in one area for no more than ten years, or soon you would be questioned about why you are not aging, why you are different, and eventually you would be discovered. Every 10 years, giving up all of it. That would be the second hardest. Would it still be worth it? I think so.

The question was:"what is the most disturbing part of being a vampire?" not "what is the most disturbing part of being the only one vampire in the world?" If you were a vampire, that doesen't mean that no other vampires would exist! That's for soltitude problem!
For example, you are a vegeterian and meat makes you puke, would you need to eat meat? Or do you need to touch fire when you know that is not a plesant feeling and that'll burn your skin? YOU DON'T NEED AND DON'T MISS SOMETHING THAT HAS A BAD EFFECT ON YOU!!! So you wouldn't miss food or the sun and all that you now think you would miss when you were a vampire!

You follow her into a club where you get to know her. You fall in love with her. Your every breath is for her, and you would never cause her harm. Now as far as disturbing, yes, to me that is the most disturbing. I could live without sunlight. I could kill for food. These things would not disturb me. But, losing someone that way, it would destroy me, change me, disturb me.

Well, that's the reason why dogs don't fall in love with frogs! Did you thought about finding a nice beautiful vampire of the opposite sex to fall in love with, instead of falling in love with your food?
I never heard of a case that one life form fell in love with it's prey, let me not say food!
