So, with all the posts on here about the powers of a vampire, and the darkness of vampires, what are the actual things that vampires are said to do? For instance. Those of you who have read the hellsing manga know that vampires have the ability to turn non virgin people into ghouls! Is this a written ability of a vampire? The whole turning into a bat thing, is that true? I'm looking for peoples thoughts on the average vampires abilitys, strenghs, weaknesses, and what they can and can't do. Like the sunlight thing.

vampires are basically people who have either a blood fetish, or have an illness which means they have to 'feed' off others for energy so they can survive..

Well, if you've played Bloodomen 2, They say Different Vampires sometimes have different abilities, it's just a video game, but who knows...

Olwen is correct a vampire is simply one who feeds off another, whether it be blood or energy.

i dont really know, its all in books or on the net, archives probably do exsist but i do believe that they exsist somewhere.

I agree, A Vampyre is one that has a blood fetish and or feeds off another being to survive, be it evergy or blood.

In my opinion, I am not a vampire. I don't believe like 75% of the people here who say they are. Just cause you drink blood and don't like the darkness doesn't make you one. I do believe they exist, but I know vampires are not what books, and movies crack them out to be.

So really I can't tell you anything about an actual vampire, until the day I meet one.

Vampires can read minds, drink blood of course, fly, paralyze someone just by lookin into their eyes, and control someone

In my opinion, there are many different types of vampires... you can never really say exactly. That's what I believe.

vampires like humans have many difrent races an abilitys,it would be next to impossible to list all the diffrent abilitys all the vampires posses, i for instance have high level of strength, all my senses are highend, i can t fly or any thing like that im highly resestant to sickness an physicle harm

i agree with Vincent, to many different races to list all of them. i'm a wirey little bugger i might weigh 150 when i eat a big meal, but i can lift and throw alot more than i weigh. i can also jump decently high and i'm very agile.

There are many different vampire abilities....it depends on the Vamp and his/her age.
some have the ability to use their voice to make you feel a certain feeling.....when they speak or laugh you will feel like they have touched you in a way no one could....or like you have been touched by silk they give a warmth and usually a sexual feeling.
some have the common abilities....
flying, eyes, shapeshifting, quickmovements,etc.....
again it depends on the vamp and his/her age

Depends on the particular area of the world you're looking at, assuming you're speaking of legends. There are varieties all over the world, and each differs depending upon the culture. So really, there are no set rules. Believe what you want.

AsI always say, it depends on what you think a vampire is... and although most people ascociate it with 'darkness' as you mentioned, I dont think thats necessarily true.

If you think that you are a 'vampire' than have a look at your self and decide what rules you think are best for you.

As in life, sometimes we need advice, but we make our own morals... do the same with this, if it matters that much to you.

I'd have to agree with some in here in that it totally depends on the individual and that everyones abilities are different

Real life vampires are not what most humans think they are.
A real one will never reveal its true indentity for one and of course the powers that they posses.

i agree with bloodthirst, when i do meet one it shall answer all questions..i mean meet one face to face

to be VERY honest with evryone here, the best variation of a vampire is from (nnow dont shun me) BLADE. think about it...... NO religion just pure vampire based on scientific facts. it gave them that humanistic quality that made them truly believeible. so to answer the question..... (except for dracula) a vampire can drink a heavy amount of blood for ENERGY not food.... the sun can kill them..... they are NOT inmortal BUT they can live 3-4X as long as us do to the blood replenishing them.... and yes there is a REAL LIFE disease where a human needs to feast on human blood to stay alive its very rare and it sucks to have it....(it was on CSI) and of couse there phisical abilities are anywear from 4-10 fold of are power.

i believe this is a game for me and i create how i want to play it till told otherwise.

Well a vampyre so to speak more or less is someone who feeds off another being for blood or energy and as a means of survival. Some possess psionic ability while others have high charisma and can draw others in like a magnet

Whether I am a VAMPIRE or VAMPYRE, I have yet to examine further. All I know that a "change" occurred in my life that drastically altered my existence. As a result of severe grief, I felt my heart "die" or harden to the point where darkness reigned and emotion was no longer a factor, but the power of choices with no regret now determines my existence. Somehow, I was drawn to consume human blood and realized a sort of metamorphasis occuring.

Even to this day, I am experiencing a new and strange "evolution." Direct sunlight makes me weak and nauseous. In darkness, my health and strength is invigorated. I draw energy from people's strong emotions, with sexual energy shooting me through the roof. Because of this strange phenomena, seduction plays a BIG part in my new predatory nature. It is no longer about drinking physical blood...all I need is to feed off of the human soul for nourishment. In addition, I can now draw energy or human lifeforce through a persons dreams.

I am still trying to understand this change, so I now seek direction through membership in the Temple Of The Vampire....the only true vampire religion in the world. How it all turns out, I don't know. I'll keep in touch...

We are all different as are our gifts or abilities ...... For me it is strength and senses , smell ,hearing , ect. and I cannot fly but I can jump very high

Hmm...it would seem my situation played out a lot more differently than most.

After I was turned, I realised that my "sire" was not effective in her abilities to "awaken" another. Her sire was under the impression that I was different than they were, but he had no name for what I became.

I had most of the same similar abilities as they....as I was not them we each had different strengths and weaknesses...They were strengthened as with all things by practice and experience. We were astral vampires though the occasional sanguine tendencies were present of course.

These were some of the most noticeable abilities:
1) ability to see extremely well in total darkness....
2) high level of healing when injured....
3) the ability to run faster and dodge incredibly well, 4) colors seen in a very luminous and brighter fashion,
5) the ability to spell more effectively (sounds absurd, but helpful when trying to communicate complex thoughts) and store more information...
6) more sensitive to magick and the "etheric" planes
7) be able to sense those of your "kind"
8) be able to use cloak of invisibility (not literal invisibility kids!)
....abilities varied according to individual...
flying never pictured into this scenario...unless you consider astral travel "flying"...

....for now these are all i can think of...a sampling of my personal experience.

However, whereas the darkness gave me renewed strength in the beginning...eventually I stopped "feeding" but I stayed in the darkness....I became ill and the only thing that had improved my condition was the sunlight...

I still do not feed off of anyone. I take my nourishment from sunlight, moonlight, and the darkness. Something of an environmental vampire....

A vampire is many things... and just because one has the ability to do something does not mean they all have it.
