Should film makers make more of an effort to show all kinds of vampires, ones of African, Middle Eastern, Latin, Asian. And should there be the same effort to show all sized people in vampire roles?
It all depends on the nature of the roll...if you watch the vampire movies new and old ull see a array of different body types and different ethnic backgrounds
It kinda depends on what kinda vampire movie and where it takes place. I think they should show more different kinds of vampires, though.
if you're talking about race... then that's exactly what hollywood is like. racist.
the acting industry is the only industry that is allowed to be racist... for example "we want a white guy with excessive charisma and age to play this college part" or "we need four black girls to play a group of teens in high school"
Most vampire movies today are all set to slipknot soundtracks and are full of guns and explosions etc. etc.
usually whatever baddie is in the movie usually has a same race under them. assuming that he/she created those under her.
in short... there isn't that kind of level of thought in hollywood. it's all about the money and looking cool.
which (believe it or not) is nothing like what vampirism should be...
shame really...
Gorey has a point... and I do think that it would be an nterestign take to see an Asain vampire or something ie that as oppoed to all these deathly white Lestats.
It would be a good idea. Never saw a moovie about a Loogaroo.
Pretty much. I'd love to see vampires of other ethnic backgrounds and everything as well.
yeah.. the diversity of the vampires in films has always left a bit to be desired.. Dunno how much is due to racism vs complete lack of awareness/knowledge about vampires..
Movies are made by people to make money, except a few! Mostl the american cinima is basses on lookes not ethnic traits. If you seek individual characters with different persons, I'd suggest reading.
that wouold be very unique to see all the various vampire lores
I would love to see vampires of every race, color , sex, body type, etc. I think it would be more interesting-not all vampires can be what society considers beautiful. For example, I find Nosferatu beautiful in his way.
yeah i think it depends on the movie whether there are asian vampyres, african vampyres or any other vampyres. im certainly not oppossed to it. why do they always have to be white? it might give them something extra
No, I don't. I think they should do what they want to do...
yes I agree,it would make it far more interesting to see more varieties than just the same thing over an over.
yes i think that they should. after all the vampyre does exist in every culture.
Well, the stereo-typical film vampire is tall, pale, slicked baclk hair, cape and so on.. I suppose you could say they could vary the choice of selection. But it's really about how the charactor in the movie is supposed to be, not whether or not it's of larger or smaller size. Nor the ethnic background.
i dont really care how film makers make vampires appear in films, all the big hollywood movies will just make vampires whatever way will sell the movie.
Various types of people and races are vampires so films so depict this, but this is unlikely due to the fact of the sterotyping in the fim indrustry.
That would be interesting to see... especially because you're so used to this stereotype kind of vampire, I wonder how people would react if they saw a vampire film made in China or something...
the media thinks that people like to watch people of their own origin, and nothing else. sad thing is, that's right about most people.
well as far as a traditional vampire movie goes there is only one type of vampire...soo i guess it would be interesting to see different types
(yay, i just became a mosquito, so i can post! *jumps up and down swinging scyth in the air like a maniac*)
anyway, i like the vampire movies as they are. i just wish there where more of them
Watch the Blade trilogy,Blade is black, half the vampires he fought were mixed races,Asian,Black,Hispanic, etc
Or Dusk Til Dawn! There were some 'generously proportioned' ugly fella's in that bar of ALL races!
the integrity of the film is most importaint...
that being said, I do think there should be a more diversified vampire universe of film...
Hollywood is just crap. They just make a movie to impress people, especially teenagers so that they would imitate them cause it's a cool thing. So to make more business that is why it is full of violence, sex etc...
film and tv make us out to be not whut we really are...very upseting
i really dont like the way most of the movies portray vampires we're not all evil
I don't mind.. What I know for sure is that we need more quantity & quality of vampire inspired movies in my opinion, humans should use more imagination :P
i would love to see people of diffrent race an body size in roles as vampires, an also diffrent vampire styles also in the same movie, some that look like nasferatu an typicel vampires like tall slim, an some big animalelistic vampires, that would be kool
You should all ead Larkins poem 'Sunny prestatyn' its all about the difference between media and man.
i really liked the vampires in the blade movies...and also the underworld movie
I agree, most vampires in traditional roles in movies are evil as well as flawless beauty.
i love them and they should have verity but what you going to do
I think there should be different vampires too. Our condition can affect anybody, any body type and any race. Hollywood loves to stereotype us, (except for Blade Trilogy) but who knows what might pop up in the near future.
The new film "Vampire Tarquin" premieres this winter :-)
Why do they always make films about killing vampires? why not a nice film where the vampires win?
You can also see the film "A Vampire in Harlem"...starring Eddy Murphy and is a black Vampire!
perhaps the other cultures have their take on the vampire...perhaps far different than the neo european ones we are accustomed to.
