I do on a lot of occasions have dreams and visions of my Grandfather who passed away a good 13 years ago. It is always the same thing, a field of green tall grass, sun is shining and I am walking towards a brick wall that divides the field and my grandfather is a youngish man sitting on the wall waiting for me under the shade of a tree. Recently he has warned me that my Grandmother's time is drawing near.

If I am feeling depressed, anxious or afraid I smell his aftershave. Which none of the males in this household use. It was old spice, he use to hate it but I brought it for him every year for fathers day so he use to wear it when ever I came to visit.

Another thing is that I see a particular bird and feel at peace as the bird was my grandfathers favourite. We call the a willy wag tail here. Not sure what they would call them any where else lol.

You are not alone....( pun intended ) countless individuals believe they have experienced this kind of thing.

I look upon death as a continuation of life, in life there are people we love and care for, when we continue life why would we stop feeling that love ?

I went to New York, a woman who did'nt know me, did a charcoal drawing of those who passed before me.
They were exactly as I remember them only younger.

Many who are dying see those who have passed before them, and they will be talking to someone we cannot see. They will ask you, you cannot see Uncle so and so standing there or my Mother.

I myself believe in life after death, and I do believe those who pass bedore us do watch over us.

I too believe that death is just a natural cycle of life. Not a thing to fear, but to look forward to. A reward perhaps. From what I have learned death is freedom. Freedom from the fear, hate, anger and sadness of this world. When you pass on your free, at peace, feel joy and nothing but love. Sounds a lot nicer than here lol. So what is to fear in that?

I have had psychic drawings done of my spiritual guides and they were family and even a friend who had passed on. It was a delight to know they were still there with me.

The fasination fo death or fear is housed in almost all individuals with the thought that death has to be something more. I hope or wish that it would hold true, yet we do not know.

Insights of death, my brother predicted his death a week before he died, on when and how and it left alot of us in a weird sence after all was said. so some insight to certain people may be there, yet like the cover of death it is not sure and known.

I really think that life's greatest mystery is Death. It seems from the time we're old enough to semi-understand the meaning of it, we're taught to fear or embrace the inescapable fact of it.

I've met several older people who seem able to predict their passing when it gets close, they're prepared or preparing for it and it seems to ease their mind.

I admit I've stood in a Civil War battlefield and felt far from alone, so I have to believe there is more than just this existence. I cannot begin to know what and that's the best part of the mystery.

Concepts of the after life are applicable to comforting the dying, or those in grief for lost loved ones.

With that in mind I respect the individuals " soft ware".

The line is crossed when absolutist impress upon others to be " open minded" to all other concepts aside from their own excepted ( or lack off accepted ) after life concept.


The lynch pin to any confrontation about beliefs becomes very personal when one party Pshaws the others after life concept ( or lack of) in relation
to their adopted " soft ware", such interjection effects the assurance that individual has for their own final moments.

Concepts of after life may never be known to those who have life, for the final knowledge will come when our clock of time has stopped, and we do go on from that point.

So why obsess over the " unknown", and if one accepts an unknown, then why fuss over those who accept oblivion upon seasing life.

How many people profess knowledge of " the unknown"?
Profess, and claim experiences with" the unknown", as if the afterlife is not a mystery to them?

Such claims are leading me from being indifferent to being cynical.

To me, just dying with out some grand expectation of a Beyond is sufficiant.

why obsess about any unknown? why did people want to explore this planet...see what was over the next hill?

or to move beyond our planet and find out what is beyond the stars...its a natural human trait.

have some seen the otherside and therefor know that which is unknown to the rest of us? i dont know. i wont belittle those that seem to be truly trying to learn (as opposed to those just trying to get a quick buck).

as always i like to keep my mind open...im a part of the tyranny of free thought!

To comfort the dying, and aid in grief, and morning, at the core of beliefs is practical, " soft ware" to each individual.

To imply to others that one concept of what exist, or doesn't exist after life
ends is any less speculation then others, and insisting on people accepting testimony to experiences is rather redundant, and even gratuitios at times.

If a quarter of the people on this site that professed to be empathic, and " enlighted with gifts" practiced rather then professing, there would be a lot less romantically stalled people, less unresolved drama. I seek not " proof" or evidence, I demand fruits of the application of such
Professed believes, and I was once told, I need to have more devoted faith..
while those " devoted" avowed such scripted testimonies, showing that they where above faith, convicted even by what was interpreted as mystic, or metaphysics.

If you study the hisory of Medicine Shows, you will see, you will be invited, not only to open your eyes, but perhaps be part of the performance;)

Some of the responses have nothing to do with what she asked. She asked if anyone else had had any of these types of experiences or sensing, not if you believe in life after death. The question requires no debate on belief and would preclude anyone who had not had one of these experiences, geesh.

Both of my parents have died in the past four years. One as recent as this last February. I have sensed my Mother. She was a heavy smoker and I smelled that several times for awhile and felt like she was standing right behind me. Could have been sadness from her death and wishful thinking and could have been her.

When my Dad died I didn't exactly feel him around per se. I had a dream where he was lying on the couch in the living room. Someone else was there first and then I looked again and it was him smiling up at me and looking slightly younger and healthy. I stammered, but I said you were dead and then blurted out, are you all right. He smiled and said I am just fine and was gone.

My Mother talked to my granddaughter who is autistic. My daughter kept hearing her talking to someone and when she asked her she said, grandma. We knew she didn't mean the other one because she calls her something else. This went on for awhile and it was like she finally moved on. Other things occured as well but I don't want to go into all of that.

My son when he was younger (who was 7 at the time), did have an experience where he was being visited by his grandfather who he never met. One day while visiting my mother in law he came in with his cricket bat and ball. He went through a stage where he never went anywhere without them.

He came up to me and asked where poppy was. I asked him what he meant. And he told me that the other day while visiting his gran that poppy told him that he will play cricket with him the next time he came to visit.

Unfortunately his grandfather died from cancer several years before he was even born. So there is no possible way he could know his pop. I asked my son what did pop look like and he pointed to the picture of his grandfather that was hanging on the wall.

It gave me goose bumps when he told me.

Well i know when my son was younger, back when we lived in Niagara Falls, NY he used to draw these pictures of a family and there were 5 people in pictures/ and being he was only 5 at the time I figured he was just just using his imagination. Until the day he asked when he was going to see his other family again. Now my son died 3x when he was a month old and was down for the most just under a minute each time and they revivied him.

So I asked him what family... he went and got his drawing and pointed to each person and said this family, I miss them and having my brother and sister to play with. Now that gave me the chills.

I feel sorry for those that do not believe in life after death.
One only has to look at all animal species on our planet and ask why are we so different, intelligent, etc.

My sister's finacee' saw my grandfather in his old house once and was so terrified he refused to stay there.
My son use to refer to an imaginary playmate being an only child at that time, when we grew concerned of his well being and inquired, he not only named my grandfather, but pointed him out in a family photo. My grandfather died when I was eight years old. My son never knew him or seen a picture of him, let alone knew of his name. And yes, I lived in that house at the time.
We had so much trouble selling that house, we finally lowered it to 1000 dollars to get out from under the taxes. It was built by my great grandparents and five generations were raised there.

I do believe in life after death, and that we are visited by our loved ones after they pass from this world.

Wanted to clarify further my own interpretation of the song which inspired the topic here (As you can see pretty much from the video I created at the top of the thread), my interpretation is the narrator of the song is a father who has visions of his own father who has passed away, shown through by his own son. His son leads him into the room, as the lyrics entail and through him, he sees visions of his own father in some form of afterlife, whether it be light flooding the room and such...more specifically one can argue his father who has passed away is using his sons body as a host for his spirit who has come back in the the afterlife. If you believe in reincarnation, than infact the son could be a host for his dead fathers spirit. There's no ending when we die, seals the deal for me even more. Are you given vision, are you second sight, are you older than your life, references the fact that his son appears young ofcourse but since his body (unknown to the son himself) is hosting the spirit of his father who has passed away, he seems much older than his life.

What are peoples thoughts on this, is it possible a person, like a grandfather could come back in the afterlife and his spirit be hosted by his grandchild, and communicate with for example his own song through that grandchild in some form?

do i think there is an afterlife? I think so. Energy never dies. where does it go? we are told we have a soul. astral projection was explained to me as your soul leaving your body for a walk about.

At a young age I was widowed. And i remember sitting on the couch, the day i buried him. crying my eyes out. For a moment I could smell his aftershave lotion, a light breeze, and a gentle touch on my cheek. And some how I knew It was him, and everything would be ok. I like to think he was trying to tell me he was alright. And through the years when i least expect it, i feel a touch on my cheek just for a moment and its gone. so i like to think hes still looking after me.

So yes I do believe in the afterlife and a new beginning.
