Bloody mary
What does every one think of the legend Bloody mary?
Like when you go to the mirror and say it three times she shows her bloody face and scares u and then supposed to kill the ones in the room Id like every ones opion on this
Just an old wives tale. I've yet to meet someone who has actually been killed by Blood Mary .. this does not include alcohol poisoning brought on by the drink.
An urban Legend that was skewed by Hollywood to seem more then it ever was....nothing even scary about it really.
Speculated origins of the "Bloody Mary" urban legend:
Mary I (18 February 1516 – 17 November 1558), was Queen of England and Queen of Ireland from 19 July 1553 until her death. The fourth crowned monarch of the Tudor dynasty, she is remembered for restoring England to Roman Catholicism after succeeding her short-lived half brother, Edward VI, to the English throne. In the process, she had almost 300 religious dissenters burned at the stake in the Marian Persecutions, earning her the sobriquet of "Bloody Mary". Her re-establishment of Roman Catholicism was reversed by her successor and half-sister, Elizabeth I.

True most all Urban Legends start from some fact in history but the fact becomes skewed with things added or changed to make it more dramatic.
I've never said the name three times in front of a mirror because, to be quite honest, I'm superstitious of it.
Irrational I know, but I would rather not have a ghost coming literally, screaming at me wielding whatever phantom weapon because I was stupid enough to test the legend.
I've done it countless times because I have friends that thought it was real.....shame shame.
After a few hundred imitations, a very fond imitation came into view that started a movie... Anyone remember the "Candy Man"?
just an old wise tale.
iv tried it many times when i was young. still here aint i?
Urban Legend................But one hell of a tasty beverage
A fun urban legend. Growing up, we had a slightly different version:
You (and your friends) get into a dark closet and say 'marijuana' 3 times. Supposedly, this scary witch was to appear, showing her bloody razor sharp teeth and claws.
As a kid, I did this once with 2 -3 other friends. One swore that she saw Marijuana - we all ran out of the closet screaming.
I don't believe in that particular story, but on one of those truth or fiction shows, there is a true story that a woman kept seeing the face of this woman in her mirror, and it bothered her so much she covered it up. But one day after her husband had gone to work, and removed the cover off the mirror because he thought it was silly. Well, she caught a glimpse of the woman being murdered by a man with a knife, in the mirror, and that saved her life. The woman in the mirror warned her there was an intruder, so she could react. Something like that. So, I know mirrors can be portals, but it is not all a good thing either. I have heard of things that can come out of a mirror, but none of it ever connects to the bloody mary story.
I tried the bloody Mary thing once nothing happen, but me and some friends tried Blue Baby which has the same Concept of bloody Mary, you stand in front of the bathroom mirror with the lights off, and one candle lit. You then cradle your arms like your holding a baby and rock them back and forth saying blue baby five times, supposedly you’re to see a blue baby in your arms, best we ever got was a blue streak, but I chalk that up to the candle light and our own imagination.
No Bloody Mary, but there are other things. In Samoa, you are not suppose to even look into a mirror at night, or you will see things. So, there is something there, but it isn't Bloody Mary, lol
Bloody Mary is an Urban Legend...been around a long time...Candy Man is just a movie...made up for the big screen.
But the concept remains the same, 3 calls to Mary and 5 calls to the Candy Man. As well as looking into the mirror and other regards. So in my perspective, Mary went through some what of an evolution and beckoned the movie concept for the Candy Man itself.
black bess queen marys monsterous sister killed thousands.queen mary only killed a few people who where a direct threat to her throne.she should have had that maniac sister killed but she never did ,evan though she probably was murdered on black besses orders.elizabeth the first was like stalin or hitler.
I've tried the Bloody Mary thing several times and nothing ever really happened. I did freak myself out and thought I saw something but I am 99.9% sure it was my imagination.
Have you ever noticed most of the "stand in front of a mirror and recite XXX" superstitions require you to stand in the dark or with just a lit candle for light and look in a mirror?
In this case I think visions seen have more to do with the eyes adjusting and straining to see something in the dark than any malicious spirit trying to communicate.
There's:
Bloody Mary
Blue Baby
Candy Man
Lizzie Borden
La Lerona
etc
I can't sat that I believe in evoking them , like legends say you can.
A lot of my friends have tried the Bloody Mary thing, and they all say it has worked.
I'm not sure If I believe it or not. Part of me thinks that sit really is the Bloody Mary spirit, but the other part of me thinks that its just because you were dizzy of twirling in circles and thought you saw something.
Soon I will try it out by myself, and I wioll post the results.
To those of whom think that it may have worked, may be responding to the syndrome called "peer pressure." Just to make yourself look "good" in front of your "peers." The "saving face." aspect.
My friends and I used to do it too and nothing happened. I think when most people "see" something, it's their mind. They don't want to believe something like this isn't working for them when it appears to be working for others, and they don't want to feel left out so their mind does it for them.
All I know is that when I was a kid my mom scared me with tales and all I can remember is seeing a ghost female in the hallways of our house and to this day you still see the ghost....*shivers*
Bloody Mary, Marijuana, and La Llorona were pretty much all the same where I grew up.
I think it is a scary urban legend that got out of hand somehow.
An urban legend, that hollywood stripped and made money off of
The fear is all in your head. People "see" Bloody Mary in the mirror because it's what they want to see. In all actuality, it's not real. The mind is a powerful thing, and plays tricks, especially when you are doing things such as trying to scare yourself/your friends. I don't really believe it's true. I've done it countless number of times when I was younger-sorta one of those past times-and never truly saw her.
I believe it is just something that someone made up...because they wanted a reaction from others.
Some people make up things to scare others into thinking something is not.
i would have to agree , it's nothing more than legend. i tried when i was younger and in the south the "ritual" was even more drawn spin around flush the toliet call her name go out side come back in blah blah ..... just something made up to scare girls at slumber parties..... nothing is sacred anymore
We did that all the time when younger. After I aged, I thought perhaps it was due to the irridescent red in your own eyes and capturing your own outer silhouette in the mirror once the lights went out.
I suppose whether or not she appears all depends on your personnal belief of such supernateral events.
I tried it a few years ago, and nothing happened. Kids have huge imaginations, don't forget.
I have to admit, this is one of those things that my superstitions just WILL NOT allow me to venture into LOL!
I've often thought about doing it, just for the hell of it, but then always chicken out at the last minute.
True, the vengeful spirit of Bloody Mary probably isn't going to jump out of the mirror and murder me, but...I'm still a chicken shit and won't try it! LOL!
JUST IN CASE....I don't want to be the one that she does finally come out and prove the legend to be fact!!!! LOL!
Ok call me crazy but I have done the only bloody Mary bit into the mirror and I lived to tell about it > Does that make me famous ?no it just proves that it was all a hipe to sell movies.
lol I tried it when I was a little kid. Nothing happened. Just made up like camp fire scary stories.
I think at some time in our lives we have said those cursed words to see what would happen.
The legend of Bloody Mary actually derives from Countess Elizabeth Bathory, not Mary Queen of Scotts.
Countess Bathory had an addiction with youth and beauty and there for could not watch herself age. She dared not own a mirror for then she could see herself growing older. Soon after noticing that her body was changing, she found the secret of eternal youth after killing a servant girl one day. She hired two henchmen to gather young girls and claimed that the Countess was going to "learn" them in the arts of being a proper young woman as it would earn the girls a better chance at getting a husband later on in life.
It took several years before anyone ever caught on. Her cousin, a Duke, sentenced her to live the rest of her days locked away in a tower on her estate as he could not end his own family member's life. It is said that after her death, she was envoked and her soul tormented in the after life and craved eternal beauty evermore as her youthful appearance disappeared in the nether realms.
That is where the legend comes from. It's also why only certain persons lose their lives in the conjering of the tormented Countess.
I already do not like approching mirrors when it is late and dark, it makes me shiver, like I can see someone there in the glass and then behind me so I tend to light all lights and avoid provocation.
So I would not try it, I might sound scardy cat but I am no fool either to provoc the devil ^^
We did this when we were kids , in what seems like 1000 years ago now , lol . I think it was the allure of anticipation that was the most fun. Alas , it doesn't work.
We did it a dozen or so times as a kid and nothing ever happen, It's as real as south parks biggie smalls episode.
me and my friends tried it a long time ago.... nothing will happen or will ever happen.
it is an old legend!!!
Nothing will ever happen if you try it. It's just an old tale which has been handed down and adapted worldwide.
Hello,
I have heard that Bloody Mary is the ghost or spirit of Elizabeth Bathroy.
Totally a false story. My mother gives me more of a fright. Then again, she scares everyone. ;)
I think this is just an urban legend, that at some point a story was created and passed down through the years to scare people.
Mind you I can't stand in front of a mirror and say those words... lol too chicken just in case :D

I have tried it and i saw nothing but my reflection in the mirror in a dark room. This is just something made up for little kids to do while they try to have a "cool" party.
Bloody Mary, Bloody Mary, Bloody Mary.
Candyman, Candyman, Candyman.
Same story innit?
