Paranoid Vampires are visionaries who search hard for the Truth. They see things that others can't. The question is whether those things are really there.
LOOK FOR: Absolute certainty about themselves and their beliefs, distrust of everything else.
DRAW YOU IN WITH: Virtue, creativity, perceptiveness, protectiveness, and deliverance from evil.
DRAIN YOU BY: Jealousy, unshakable prejudices, constant cross-examination of every difference of opinion. Absolute belief is neither good nor evil, but it is a door through which either may enter.
THE ONES YOU SEE EVERY DAY: Jealous spouses, conspiracy theorists, and people who post weird things on the Internet.
DEFENSIVE STRATEGY: Know how to recognize a crazy idea when you hear one. Don't answer questions when they're asked a second time.

By ALBERT J. BERNSTEIN, Ph.D.
a person that expects others to subscribe to their theories, however vaguely, or inconsistant they present their theories.
dabbler, what did you mean by your comment? Can you elaborate please?
Nice one Dabbler,
Dabbler nailed this one!!!
What he meant is that if they only see their side of things, then they are not all there, but if they see all sides and include yours, you should listen very closely else it then becomes you that's not all there, for only seeing your side of things.
Other words, all your detailed labeling of such a person would show you to be the person you are trying to make them out to be.
The answer is simple, but if you make it complicated, you'll trick yourself into believing your own lies.
Hah many of those things describe me and did not feel effected.
Those intrenced in such a psycosis are excitedly offended by rational questions, they insolate themselves from even social convenance, the refrain "You are just too closed minded.", is often uttered at those who "fail" to grasp their pitch. They place their person before the idealism. It is not what they believe (or would have you believe) it is believing it as they present it.
For clarity, I add that they are even offended by sympathetic inquiry.
dabbler, selective, Gothlibra27, thanks for your comments. But I disagree to a point. The selective nature of my original post was more or less a self assessment based exercise.
deathnitegrl, cool.
dabbler, in regards to sympathetic inquiry this thread can also be relative to another that I have posted in the forums, "Do you hide?" Be it from others or from yourself!
What about the skeptic that gets off on putting people down, slicing and dicing everything for attention? Wouldn't you think this person had nothing else to do? They are the self-satisfied ones that will use every link and negative thing anyone has ever said about the topic and top it all with more cynical bs that is redundantly repeated over and over again. This shows in the end that they are purely "feeding" off of the negativity and kudos of those that listen to them. It is sort of like Munchausen syndrome by proxy, instead of a child it is aimed at obliterating some belief or idea for self gratification while claiming it is for the sake of debate. Yet, it seems to be the leit motif of the person. You find them prowling message boards where the topics tend to be controversial and hotly debated. I think they might fall under one of these classes of vampire. They rape your belief system and make everything you hold dear seem like mental illness with innuendo and snide remarks.
I looked up this guy and I think he isn't talking about what most think of as a vampire but is using the word loosely more toward exploitation.
"Not just annoying people, but darkly seductive. Emotional Vampires draw you in with charm, beauty, talent, and pulse pounding excitement. Then they drain you – not of blood but of every last drop of emotional energy.
You know them – Sexy, but unreliable lovers, drama queens who use emotions like Afghan Rebels use Kalishnikovs, jealous spouses, demanding parents, manipulative coworkers, and bosses with gigantic egos, who are so small everywhere else.
It’s almost supernatural how quickly Emotional Vampires can get you to trust them, then, just as quickly, get under your skin and drain you dry. It’s downright scary how quickly they can trick you into letting them come back and do it again.
Psychologists would diagnose Emotional Vampires with Personality Disorders, those strange mental illnesses drive other people crazy. To protect yourself from children of the night, you must understand what personality disorders are, and how they operate.
With checklists, examples, and detailed, step-by-step instructions, Dr. Albert J. Bernstein, Psychologist and best-selling author of Dinosaur Brains, tells you all you need to know to save yourself from a tremendous pain in the neck."

A great (inadvertent?) confrontational proposition; "are you anal and can you see yourself". An excellent tune-up tool for those who will accept it maturely and rationally. Everyone on the Rave should be required to come over here to read the challenge and then honestly access themselves. I got a good poke in the eye here, a not so subtle reminder that its NOT all about me and my opinions/beliefs, but that there are and always will be individualists with a right to their own thoughts and speech, political and religious beliefs and opinions. Thats what makes life so much fun.
Generally, those who accuse you of not listening to their beliefs won't accept the fact that you ARE listening, you're just not agreeing.
The easy thing to do is to paraphrase what you just heard to assure the speaker that you were listening. At this point, feel free to disagree with them, but insist that they also repeat back to you what you said. Often, they can't do it because they weren't listening. Listening and simultaneously thinking about what you're going to say is difficult for most people. It has more to do with why they are engaging in conversation. If they merely want to "win" or be in the spotlight, then you might as well be talking to your dog.
There is a significant difference between cynic, and skeptic.
A cynic would simply state," Your Believes Suck a**."
A skeptic states, " I am not compelled to subscribe to your beliefs, for the following reasons."
Often those who do subscribe to such beliefs are very offended ( personally) by those states reasons.
I must be getting old. A paranoid what? I believe that this strange sub sub sub genre of Psychic Vampirism is, well, not needed. It was all under one catagory before right? Not every disease (not assuming about Psy Vampirism) has to exhibit every simptom there of.
