I had a conversation with a fellow about vampyres and werewolfs working together. I found it impossible for both sides to get along and work together in protecting people and feeding. What do you think?

I didn't think werewolves were real, though someone approached me randomly and asked if I was one.

werewolfs when in there beast form they lose themselves to their anger. They cant control who they attack and therefore would bring more harm then good while protecting someone. Not even an elder per say would have the ability to control their anger while transformed.

It is literally impossible since the werewolf has yet to be proven to historically exist. ~Upir~ has qualified the vampire to historically have existed in the past, in my opinion.

How trite is this topic, how many have rehashed it? Are they actually convinced that anything "ground breaking" will develop?

are you under the impression that vampires and werewolves exist outside of fiction, and that Underworld is some cryptic account of an actual existing matter?

Actually, ~Dabbler~ is very much on topic, since the werewolve itself has still yet to be proven beyond a psychological disorder known as lycantropy:

1. In "folklore", the magical ability to assume the form and characteristics of a wolf.
2. A "delusion" that one has become or assumed the characteristics of a wolf or other animal.

taken from here

In this case we would be looking at definition number two as the dilusional account.

To state that a werewolf beast does exist is in fact folklore since it would be impossible to shapeshift within scientific parameters. Where in science has this been proven? Otherwise, your hypothesis seems a bit far fetched or you are working with definition number two in my opinion and are basing your thesis on the delusional account of those who would think of themselves as having the characteristics of a wolf or other animal, which in this case would be a psychological ailment and or roleplay enactment.

Therefore, this would prove that ~Dab's~ post is still on topic, unless you are basing this thread on roleplay alone.

I was just about to ask what Dabbler asked, and SS nailed it.

Personally this was never discussed till Underworld came out, now it seems as though whenever it's mentioned it always traces back to someone that watched the Underworld movies.

I can explain a little of what I know.

In Fiction, Bram Stoker had mentioned Dracula turning into a wolf several times. Once when climbing the wall of his castle, and another time when raping that girl in her back yard.

In Metaphysics and Magic, a "Watcher" is said to be able to materialize into the form of a wolf giving the illusion it is the person when it is actually a thought form created by the person instead.

It is also mentioned in old text somewhere about the ability to actually change physically, as SS had stated above in his post. However, this is most likely distorted and mistranslated information pointing towards a "Watcher". Not saying it isn't possible, but on a scale of difficulty it would be right up there with being immortal.

As Vampires (Do Not Kill, And Feed Without Killing), I think the more people realize this, they try to rationalize their need to kill with their wanting to be Vampires so they cling more to the idea of Werewolves being separate from Vampires.

For now, Let's forget all of the Fiction. Do you have any experiences you would like to share?

If you are only referring to fiction, I apologize.

i believe it is possible for both to exist without tension that is i believe for all who believe to be able to intermingle as long as they have soem common respect for one another

if you believe in something then great just never let another person try to crush your faith, just agree to disagree and walk away.

As the poster of this question has not mentioned that the werewolves and vampyres are real, I think we can take it as read that he means the fictional kind.

I will answer as if that were so in any case.

So, I would say that werewolves would welcome the chance to make allies with vampires, why waste time fighting when there is good food to be had ?

Maybe every now and again there could be organised contests between the two ?

In the White Wolf Genre Vampires (the Wyrm) are Arc enimies of the "Garou" Werewolves. The Vampires have one faction that associates with Garou The Gangrel.

As THEshinobi stated-"in there beast form they lose themselves to their anger. They cant control who they attack and therefore would bring more harm then good while protecting someone."

now onto MasterMindedFate-
looking at your post on just agreeing to disagree, I think if going by what THEshinobi stated previous, this agreeing to disagree, is impossible. If one is not in control of oneself, how can they agree to disagree?

Well, I've known therians before- they've all made good acquaintances, but rarely good friends. That may simply be due to their individual personalities, though.

HEY! In fiction...is not a vampire supposed to be able to turn into a wolf? Brahms Dracula he did. Is that not the same thing...*ponders*...as a werewolf? After the transformation of course. And they can turn into nifty bats too...so...if a human turned into a bat...*ponders*...would that make them a Werebat? I suppose it would if the word "Were" was Latin for "Human"...but of course I am guessing here. Hey hey heeeey...we could have a new specie on the block here...a Werebat!

I'm told Were anything simply means shapeshifter. The ability to shapeshift goes back to even Ancient Egypt were Isis and Nephthys (the sisters) could turn into falcons(kites). I'm not sure how far the legends go as for being able to do so. I think it's more of a spiritual situation than an actual physical one.
Through each story, Weres/Lycans have a different purpose. Weres/Lycans are supposed to be protectors of the undead. They are both Earthbound creatures struggling over power. Now they write about them working together for a single purpose in the Twilight series even tho in those stories, they still have issues about working together.

Surly there is noone here who actually thinks there is substance to this topic.

Again I feel those who live the lifestyle of Vampire or werewolf, can actually get along. I mean your human first so why would you not want to co -exist with one another.
As for werewolves or vampires being real, well that is in ones head in my opinion. yet, I respect those who claim the lifestyle and live it. hey no problem for me.

You said when they are in their transformed self they are lost within the anger and cannot protect, well that sounds pretty much like many people I know. No matter what the situation it is ones responsiblity to control their urges and anger in my opinion. So I do not see why the two could not actually get along.

my thoughts..

I had seen a show that was based on the werewolves. and they showed a story of this occurance happening and had a scientfic study on it. Because the person was killed by a werewolf in a park while camping. Of course the investagators had specialists and detectives and what not. They ran tests on the samples collected from this corpse and had seen that it was a strain of rabbies. But it doesn't actually kill the person infected with this strain and can be passed on and transmitted through blood, saliva, any bodly fluid. This is what makes it a strain of rabbies but because it is made up differently and doesn't have a fatal effect to the person infected it isn't exactly. I fell asleep for the rest of the show but it was pretty interesting. And it wasn't on some chiller ot horror channel.

But yes I think that they are real and of course vampyres. And if it can be achieved some sort of bridge than let it be so.

Werewolves and vampyres could be boon companions. After endless time, frail humans and fickle consorts, the wolf and vampyre could be supportive during those "weak" moments, human guardians of the vampires daylight sleep, and vampyric safekeeper on the wolf's full moon nights, each one indulging the other's "idiosyncrasy."

What would happen if a vampire gave blood to a werewolf?

Has this been covered in the underworld movies?
