Do you feel there is a certain standard of civility among the vampiric races (sang, pranic, etc.) that should be observed?

That is... as we have a caste system here, do you feel that among vampiric society truly has such a thing? Or is it more a community-based system for those that find a familiarity with vampires they may have known from another incarnation?

The only one I really know of is used by the Ordo Strogoi Vii. They seem to be big on that.

Civility? WTF is that?

hahaha

Just messin with ya.

Seriously, though, I'm not sure I understood the question. Maybe it's too late (or early), but I saw something about a caste system, then out of nowhere (imagine a ball flying at your skull) came 'incarnation', and I was lost.

What are you talking about? Are you talking about games or real life here? Civility is just plain politeness or respect. Why act any differently here than in the real world?

Or am I missing something? I'm missing something, aren't I? Dammit!!! Fucking q's and crossing the eyes and dotting the teas!!

I would have to agree with the previous posts, If you are refering to real life, I think it comes down to each an every vampire, just like morals, each vampire has their own personality. I would have to say when it comes down to the VR vamp, they are usually very civil.

If diferent types of vampires get along?
In real life, I think there must be a very special relation, because they are all alike - they crave - so I imagine that they recognize eachother. Don't see a reson for them not to get along, but then again, I'm not a vampire, only know too that I think are psy-vamps and don't know any sanguine, so I don't know if that civility you talk about exists amongst them.

Thank you for those who could catch my damn-near midnight babble. :P

I'm not talking game-wise but real.
Also, I've come across many here on VR and abroad that rather say they're one thing and not address the other.

"Or is it more a community-based system for those that find a familiarity with vampires they may have known from another incarnation?"

As far as this goes (since you're interested) I feel that some vampires go into houses (ex: ElderDaniel and I having like-minds, he chose me when the split happened, and I happily accepted when he asked me formally).

As far as this goes in the real life, tangible situation, do you feel that houses form from familiarity from another life (incarnation), or just strickly from how they're/we're perceived at the given moment (goth, daywalker, etc)?

I agree with Echo's post. It is individualy based. You can have people in a caste/clan system that get along with each other but not with others of another caste/clan system as a whole. But based upon basic interaction of individuals, you will always have those who will never be civil reguardless of the outcome or intended outcome presented and still others that will be civil to a fault. To save themselves from being precieved or condoned for actions that someone else might not understand.

Now if all that made as much sense in type as it did in my head, I will be have a great rest of my day.

It is rather confusing, but I suppose some Civility has been observed over the years.. I mean are there and clans or houses currently at war with each other that we are aware of?

I think civility is overrate! j/k. I think I somewhat agree with what others have said about it being indiviually based but I think there is also the leader or master if you will. If they are so feared or demand so much control that others do it no matter that, then I think that has to do with who is civil and not. A house or what not can have varied amounts of civility whereas others with a feared r controlling leader may not. I think it is bot hindividually based and leader based.

As in any societal grouping, you will find varying degrees of civility. Each member of the society is an individual and therefore this not likely to be one uniform way of acting towards each other member.

I think this could go either way also. To use others ideals and such would be to continue things that could other wise be lost. But to start anew from scratch would be superb as we all know, new things make the future while old things hold the past. I think it can go either way. Depends on the people and all that.

A question from the true nights of olde:

You have chosen to be bonded by the code of civility; you have been on a very long mission by your Prince and finally it is at an end. Many months on horseback and many more on foot through mountainous terrain and scatter villages to reach your goal and complete your mission. But it is now in the dead of winter and your supplies have been gone for sometime. You now find yourself in a deep forest. Your wearabouts are unknown to you but you have heard many strange stories about the terrain and this forest.

As the sunset approches and forest darkings, you see before you on a flat large stone, that was not there a moment before, a thick woolen cloak. You think to yourself that it will keep you warm through the night as you are now becoming quite cold. But you are sworn to the code. As the cloak is/ was not offered to you, you can not use it for the warmth that it is surely to provide. To take something that is not offered to you is stealing. But you may very well die from the night cold.

Do you take the cloak anyway, and live?
Or, do you live by the code and maybe die?

How many here will follow true civility?

In the case of the cloak, I wouldn't consider using the cloak to be breaking a code of civility. In a time of dire need, some things must be done in order to survive. Life above all things must be preserved. In this one case, the code of civility doesn't really apply.

Hmm, good question. I suppose in this situation, the cloak -was- given to me. I could claim delerium and say the elves left it. :D

Not just familiarity -with- vampires, but with -certain- vampires. Ones you've met in person
