I found this to be quite interesting. I am curious to know what you think of this as well. I was thinking that maybe if people read this some of the religion bashing crap would stop. I myself have mentioned before many times that I do believe in alot of JC's teachings and am hoping that others may see his teachings as a good thing. I would also like to add that when I was first learning about Dieties and Pantheons, while I was a neophyte Pagan, I was taught to Honor all of them. No, this does not mean you have to follow them, just to Honor them as Dieties and Pantheons and for their greatness.

"If bias can be put away and delving deeply into the eclecticism of authentic, historic paganism, which would enable one to see the wisdom of embracing the positive and uplifting aspects of the Christian mysteries, along with the sacred stories of other cultures and ancient religions of both past and present.

Christ is the most potent archetypal figure of Western history and religion. Members of the Craft of the Wise should not ignore his power and influence. Reactions against fundamentalist narrow mindedness should not create an artificial barrier between the complements of pagans and Christian's truths. Gerald Gardner himself said that renouncing or distancing oneself from Christ is not necessary to be pagan."

This is the site that i found this on:
http://members.aol.com/ecclasia1/jesuspagan.html

If you go to the site and want to discuss the rest of the article DON'T. This thread is to discuss whether or not you beleive in honoring JC and other religions Dieties. DO NOT BASH OTHER RELIGIONS IN THIS THREAD.

Each religion has its own beliefs, own gods...each one has the right to believe in what they think is most appropiate for them...I wrote an article about this, and there you cand see that most of the religions spread on a relatively wide area but interconnected have a common base of gods which are adapted then according to the local customs.
So, respecting other religions is a given fact...

Being respectful and giving respect to other peoples beliefs and respecting their choice of deities should be done by more people especially in areas where certain religions seem to be dominant. noone should be put down for what they believe in.

I totally agree with honoring the Gods of other religions. There's way to much bias in this world. We need to work on changing that.

I did afore mention that because you honor other dieties it doen't mean that you follow them. I would also like to add that just because you honor other dieties it doen't mean you worship them, either.

due to the fact that only a few have posted i am wondering if this was a good thread to post

JC is seen as a pagan by some. Aa you can look at him as the Son of God, or as the Sun God. Remember that the celebration of his birthday, though done at the wrong time of year, is Dec. 25 which is only a few days after the Winter Solstice which is a celebration of the death and rebirth of the Sun God! Many of the myths about Jesus were also taken from Mithra who is also part of some pagans worship. And to add that when you look at it you can see a Christian as well as a pagan Trinity, God-Holy Spirit(who is seen as feminine)-Jesus, and then The GodHead-Goddess-God on the pagan side. It really does not matter what names we use, they are just ways for us to contact and understand something greater than we are capable of comprehending. LOL, I can go on and on with this one.

I believe that people should be able to worship who and how they choose if it be Jesus God or his counter part Satan who are we to decide what people believe and what business is it if people worship some one some thing or nothing at all.

I don't try to bash religion but I do try to make people think and not just follow blindly....the old god and godesses of mythology were around long before Christ and sometimes I wonder why all of a sudden people stopped believeing....but I am atheist and still respect others views and still am willing to discuss religion with others....I like information..

I have a book here that is very good reading, its called

"D.J Conway, Magick of the Gods and Goddesses"

Its a fascinating book on all Pantheons:

Ritual & Magick
Witchcraft & Paganism
Shamanism
Ceremonial Magick
The Qubala
Egypt
Middle East
Greece
Rome
Africa
Celtic Realms
Nordic-Germanic Realms
Finnish-Ugrian Realms
Slavonic-Russian Realms
India
China
Japan
Tibet
Pacific Ocean
Native North American
Mayas
Aztecs
Incas
with Angels and Archangels
Elements and Elementals
and finally the Planets.

Its a great book for reference, Unfortunally they missed out on one area of the world, and that is Austrailia and the abroriginals and their culture and pantheons.

I always try and take the good from all religions.

I like the part of Matthew 25:35 - feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, visiting someone in prison.

I don't like all the "sticking your nose" in everyboy's business aspect of mainstream Christianity. Let's help the poor and not care if somebody is gay or playing a violent video game.

I minored in Classics in college and you start to realize that most of the religions are based on the seasons and fertility. Like someone else said, a lot of Christianity is slapped on top of the old religions.

Finally, no one has a monopoly on the myths in the Bible. For example, the baby floating down the river in a basket and later becoming a king is found in Oedipus, Moses, Adonis, and I think an olde Sumerian myth.

Although I'm not currently active, I'm an ordained minister in a multi-faith church. Personally, I'm a Buddhist, but I also have a great appreciation for Gnsotic Christianity and Taoism. I've studied other religions and while I don't find anything that speaks to ME in many of them, I can appreciate that they provide just what someone else needs. That's what attracted me to a multi-faith organization...the diversity of ideas. It often reveals more similarities than differences.

Personally I believe that all the gods (small g), Gods (big G), and Goddesses are but different facets and aspects of one great God. To embrace one aspect and bash another seems like pure foolishness to me.

While I try not to put down deities and religions, sometimes I do get weak and resort to bashing a fanatical, small-minded follower or two.

All paths are just different ways of getting to the same place. A old version I heard was that all paths are different spokes on a wheel that all lead to the same central hub.

I too respect ppls right to believe what they want. What I have no respect for is someone trying to ram their ideas and beliefs down my throat as if I didn't have a brain to make up my own mind.

Even if I don't respect your religion I respect your right to believe in it and will leave you be :)

Besides I have yet to find any religion that I can find absolutly nothing to agree with within it's teachings!!
