Wouldn't it be great if mentorships could form an alliance as if they were mini covens? It would be easyer for more people to make friends and check out diffrent places away from their coven. In addition, people still wouldn't earn favor and the same mentorship rules apply but it would turn into a larger group for people to learn more.
Any thoughts on this? Even if it never happened?
Not really because if that were to happen, there would be too many chiefs and not enough indians. There has to be a higher order for there to be any order at all and I think Cancer has it set up pretty good right now.
If people want to make more friends they need only talk to others on the site and check out the different mentorships. They do have the right to leave a mentorship if they so choose and explore others. There are many options open for everyone on the site, they just have to take the time to explore them.
Just my two cents.

Thanks for posting.
Well I guess it would be more than that. I know that some mentorships are dead and well I think people could end up helping eachother out with pupils who post.
Just my thoughts but I doubt that any of it will happen. You're right, Cancer did a grand job on this place. Thank you so much for Vampire Rave, Cancer!
Hmm,I think I have to go with NF on this one.Mostly because of how I feel about my mentorship.I accept one, maybe two members at a time so I can direct my attention on their personal concerns and questions,as opposed having it there for people to meet and interact with a bunch of people. They can do that all over VR.
It would be like bring Wood Shop students, in with the Computer science students, and the forum/curriculum would likely bore one of the two parties.
I suggest the Sci-fi groups.
I love my mentorship. The people in it have helped me by answering questions, giving me tips and sometimesjust playing around to let off steam. I'm too low for a coven yet and honestly in no hurry to get there. My friends list includes people from various levels, mentorships and covens. I actually read other people's journals and if they seem interesting will message them. I have also found that I can help others in my mentorship with the knowledge I have gained.
I honestly believe that you get what you give whether it be mentorship or coven or even alliance.
Since I don't belong to a Coven, I can't compare it to my mentorship. But mini mentorship contest sound like fun to me... and for the record, I may have been drug to VR but now its like a drug lol... I love it!

NanaKiki, see thats the kind of spirit that I have. A VR addict who enjoys reading journals, even.
I can tell that maybe this was really supposed to be a small one on one group to get more attention for lower members but the group isn't that small when the mentor's levels get higher.
Thanks for giving in your thoughts on this. I like to read both sides of a debate.

Not to stomp on your idea - but as of now there are about 170 mentorships.
The question really needs to be asked, how many VR members actually learn anything about VR from their mentors. I'm going to guess it is the minority.
Bringing more of them together would seem a bit pointless. Perhaps limiting mentorships and making them a bit more exclusive might be a better option.
Same thing can be really be said of most Covens. We need a limit on those; any how do you do Sire thinks they can handle a Coven, when in fact... their Covens suck.
I think it'd be an interesting idea to have an Alliance type between Mentorships and Societies. Isn't really that different compared to a Society alliance.

Yup. I agree with Cath, on that one. Most people want to hit sire to make a coven. Its just not worth it sometimes.
I just think that some mentorships die and people just like to have them just to have them. I think that it would bring back some dead ones if there was some sort of an alliance.
I guess the real reason why I bring this up is because some of my friends finaly decided to open up mentorships along with myself. Now, mine isn't dead but sometimes I do tend to pick up some people who won't post. I end up kicking them if there isn't any space and someone is more willing to learn.
My point is, that eventhough mentor's have diffrent views on things, some are still learning about VR. So if some where to share and help eachother with pupils and ideas then things might go alot smoother for some people and it would be even more of a learning experiance for everyone.
Not saying that everyone HAD to make an alliance, but rather that one could be open to do so.
There could be inter-mentorship contests to see who's pupils are actually learning anything. Honestly, a friend of mine on here joined a mentorship and after the initial Welcome... there was nothing. Another came along and she joined it. Again, after the welcome there was no one around to help her with her profile, or to tell her how to level up. The people she met on VR who did help her now have her in their Coven. She is happy with her Coven but is frustrated about the whole mentorship thing. Why have them if you are not gonna help?
I wish she had been in the one I am in. The Mentor checks in at least once a day. The other members will pitch in if someone has a question and they know the answer.
But I digress, as I often do, perhaps there could be a writing contest on why I love my mentorship or how my mentorship taught me about VR... lol just another idea.
The beauty of mentorships is that they dont have to be like a coven and be active like we like or covens to be.Plus, not all mentorships revolve around how to work VR.Mine for instance doesnt have anything to do with VR as far as "how to".OR in any other aspect .
Being small does not mean a mentorship is dead, nor does being large mean its worth anything.I do think however that a mentorship can be a good stepping stone for getting the feel of what it might be like in a coven. So as for your idea? sure, why not go for it and see how it turns out.
As far as mentorship alliances? No.Not when you can simply switch if you want to.

Yeah I can switch but I'd be switching waaaay too much if I had my way. :| It would get really annoying the the mentor masters.
As for help, yes, I give help to anyone if I could help in anyway. I've done so before. No one needs to be a mentor to lend a hand.
As for making a group.. some groups are just not worth it these days. :/ I mean even I used to have a group but disbanded after I got a mentorship and became an assistant in a friends group to help out more.
i switched mentors once, and it was a pain in the ol booty.
i wish we could maybe be in three mentorships at once...that way we could cover multiple interests at the same time.

See thats what I mean. I wanna be in 3 or 4 even, at once but I can't. :|
I was just thinking that it could be so much easyer to have an alliance so that I didn't have to 'leave' to go to another one and another one and so on...
The one i'm in currently i actually ASKED to be in and it has a great amount of people within it and it functions just like a coven would practically. I love it :)
I think that it's something that is maybe too big, with as birra said, the number of Mentorships, and the use they are put to in the first place.
I always intended for my Mentorship to be educational, not a glorified group, which others seem to have become. I've only really been in one Mentorship that's done me some actual good, with VR stuff, know-how and whatnot. The rest were social, just like groups. Meaning no disrespect.
Alliances wouldn't really be too great, just a way to make Mentorships bigger without gaining the needed levels, I think.
i think if maybe mentorships were set in catagories and you could only alliance with other mentorships that were in the same catagory as yours then it could be a great thing in expanding information to it's pupils
Don't forget too that Mentorships do not have to be about VR alone. They can be about anything on the planet.
Indeed. There is already enough for people to be happy with. If there were alliances, well, it would be something less to look forward to, too. When you hit Sire, for example, most wish to level so they can gain more pupils, but it wouldn't matter if you were in alliance.
Alliances should stay within Covens. It's a Coven thing.
That sounds like a good idea as well as a complicated one. lol
