Why do some people push away that which they are drawn to?

Depends what the person is avoiding and what they are drawn to. However, generally speaking, I feel it is most likely due to developed self disipline and self control... the maturity of realizing that doing whatever "feels good" right now so very often has later and longer-lasting consequences that do not feel very good.

In other words, yet another example of learning the "Law of Natural Consequences"... or, if you will, Karma.

Perhaps it is fear which holds them back. In life we all face disappointments and those disappointments can lead us to stop trying to obtain what our true desires are. We don't stop desiring them. We simply stop trying to gain them or self-sabotage our own paths.
What if one was to gain what he/she truly desired? There would be no goal to strive for. What if it isn't exactly what we thought it was?

Love is blind.... We don't get to pick and choose who we fall in love with, all we can do is either except or deny it.

Laziness, while the goal maybe obtainable through progressive education, study, and exercises, or practice
a person is put off by the required effort needed to achieve the objective.

Fear does not equal laziness. Laziness is knowing the path but opting not to secondary to the work involved. Fear is knowing the path but being unable to take that first step. They are 2 completely different feelings on the subject.

Example: My desire is to lose 10 pounds.
Laziness=not wanting to go to the gym, too much effort and sweat
Fear=agoraphobia, fear of people and places; germophobia
lol or What if I can't stop at just 10 pounds? Will my clothes still fit? Will I lose the shape I have now?

yes there are other alternatives to obtaining my goal but fear is paralyzing while laziness is easily overcome

They do say opposite energy attract each other but same energy repels each other. Therefore most humans will be attacked by what is pushing them it’s a rush a of adrenaline and most humans need it, rare are those who will not need it.

Angelus - the question itself doesn't really have much to do with the topics to be discussed in the general forum.

Perhaps rephrasing it to be more in-line with these topics would make it applicable, but as it is, it is better suited as a journal pondering.
