Dragonology is a study of dragons..you silly thing..you.There is a book called dragonology at the book stores..Barns and nobel is a good place to find it.Its suppost to be a scale of truth and myth put into truth.It's an awsome book,that has books in the book,and maps and almost everything that you need to know about dragons.Is the book all truth?Well that is decided to the reader.sence no one has found real fossils or bones or live dragons,they tried there best.Its a hard-back book by the way.

I never found Dragonology to be much of a real realm of study. Most of their existance is only lived in folklore and in the minds of creative individuals.

Unlike Vampirism, it does not have any real basis of observation, study, or practice. No real evidence. Mystic individuals might argue otherwise, but mysticism without logic has no foothold for intellect.

And logic says otherwise to their existance.

lol... well i knew it was the study of dragons, but some indications i got from other places gave me the idea that there is more behind it-- that it's not just a study, but a belief, or a practice. maybe even a type of religion, so that's why i posted this. thank you for the info about the book. i'll check it out! ^^

Well,alot of places have intrest on it,and try to lik dragonology with the experiance of reincarnation.Boren dragon,then died..and reboren human.Or lived dragon and earthbound and then tooken a souless body of a newboren as a host to live among humans.there are dragon relm sites,and dragon society,or dragon councill sites that I know of that talk about the book,and that they are dragon.
In the dragonology book you will find a list of what IS knowen as the dragon language.
Some believed that dragons were magical..and had powers.And some believed that they were just animals that were very smart..too smart and powerfull for man-kind to accept to live among this earth with.Hope that helps some.

I wouldn't consider Dragonology to be a real study, considering all we know about them comes from myth and legend. Because there are no live specimens to observe, our knowledge of dragons can not truly progress further than the stories.

it depends on how you define dragon. some very small lizard type reptiles were found in south america and the look (according to reports) alot like mini-dragons. we still have komodo dragons and although they dont breath fire..they could still take on a human.

here there be dragons....definately woudl like to see some more on Dragonology

I guess the study of the real dragon: komodo dragon and the fairytale ones wopudl do a nice combination of study, since most of the folkor go towards the lizard similarities more then the ones of the komodo maiking it more hard to explain and understand the what would have or would be a dragon.

i have the book it is quite interesting , i personally believe that at one point they may have exsisted and in some remote region of the world may still . But gaining proof that is sill yet to be done however i believe it is true, just like the possibilities of other creatures with dragons though almost all the countries in the world have had some type of story or myth about them so something has got to be found out sooner or later .

Ahh dragonology I have this book. Its a good start but its rather vauge. I personaly find dragons rather fasinating. I rather do believe they exist or atleast one time with. I find it interesting to civilizations such as the Aztec and the Chinese who as far as I know had no communication with each other yet they both have dragons as a spiritual or godly creature. I'll be sure to check into into this thread,

I've not found dragonology to be a great source of study in the west. There are loads of sources from the east, but it is quite different than the western perspective.

As a postscript, the dragon picture you have posted is western (winged) there is much more to explore than that.

Just because you do not see it, does not mean that we are not around, I mean look at the Christian religion, you go by faith in what you believe in.

I myself have been a Dragon as long as I can recall, and its by faith that I have stuck by it.

Actually fire breathing dragons don't exist,but the religious aspect is practiced by lots of people.
Just like the vampiric way. THere aren't any vampires that are the hollywood versions of the dead. THere are people that practice it as a religion.

Lots of different mythical creatures are based off misunderstood religious cultures.

It says that some people try to put forward that dragonology is a science. The trouble is that sometimes it is and sometimes it isn't.

As an example, someone might write a totally fictional book on the eating habits of dragons. They invent this book as a bit of fun. They are a dragonologist and a fiction writer.

Someone else might go through a large selection of world mythology and write an essay on the feeding habits of dragons from this. They are a dragonologist and a mythologist.

A third person uses dragon myths to come up with a plausible digestive system for dragons based on current biology knowledge. They are a dragonologist and a biologist. You might also call them a cryptozoologist.

What this means is that you do not know from the use of the term 'dragonology' if the person is talking about fact, fiction or scientific theory. They might be studying dragons in a scientific way or they might not be.
