This is a ghost from Mexico. The story is believed to have gone as so: La Llorana was a young women who's children were taken away and killed. She constantly searched for them but when she was in the process, she was killed too. Now her angry spirit walks among us in northern Mexico, and southern America.


Anyone know anything about this woman?
Have you ever seen her? This is an open forum describing the events and stories of La Llorana.

It is said that she has a vengence for all men. If any men come near the river where the murder was committed then she will scratch their eyes out and try to kill them. It is said that most children have heard and felt her tucking them in their beds at night. She is said to breathe very heavily. Plenty of people have claimed to hear her weeping in the night. Women usually do not seem to be haunted my her very much.

I wolud like to see La Llorana, for all I feel towards her is pity. I am not scared, theres nothing to be scared of. I wish she could've been with her kids though.

I heard a totally different story, here it is;

There are many versions of La Llorana. One is about this lady who falls in love with this very rich man. Then one night she goes to this dance. The man that the lady likes asks her to dance. When they dance the man asks the lady if she can be his girlfriend the lady accepts.They start seeing each other. At another party the man asks the lady to get married she says yes. They move into this very nice house. A year later they have to boys. They are a happy family until the husband goes to the bar and comes home late in the morning drunk. The man never gave money to his wife because he spent it on beer. Well one day he came home on a horse with a very pretty lady and said that hbe didn't love her anymore.

The next day she went to the river to take the boys a bath they went to far into the river so she went to fetch them but she drowned them instead. She was so sad that she commited suicide and drowned herself. In the morning these 2 men were giving their cows water from the river when they found the womans body. The whole village knew the family so they were searching for the 2 boys but they were never found.

The mom went to heaven upon entering. God asked her for her sins. She looked down and said I killed my 2 children. Then God said " For your punishment you will spend all eternity searching for your children. But you will never will find them because they are with me. Legend says that everytime it rains,or there is water she searches for children. When she finds children she drowns them. You can hear her crying "Aye mi hijos" She floats in a white dress with a pretty face then it turns into a ugly face. There are many verisons of this story.

she accidentally killed her kids and lived in regret and remorse forever... and after she diee, she became a ghost, ever searching for her lost, dead children. it's a sad story, really....

Many versions of La Llorona's origin exist. Some describe a beautiful young woman in Mexico or New Mexico, who married or was seduced by a local man, by whom she had several children. The woman is sometimes given a Christian name; Sofia, Linda, Laura, and María are sometimes used. The man leaves her, sometimes for another woman, sometimes for reasons of employment, and sometimes just to be away from La Llorona and her several children. At any rate, La Llorona chooses to murder her children, almost always by drowning, either to spare them a life of poverty, to free herself to seek another man, or for revenge against their absent or stray father.

I do so understand a spirit like her, having kids myself, if someone was to take them and kill them...would hunt them till the end of time...she may be a angry sipirt but she also a saint for children

I think one of my friends told me this story a while back. She said that as a child it used to really scare her. Personally, I think it's just a myth used to scare young children.

Thats a wonderful but sad story very much like the white lady stories you hear about women that kill their children and commit suicide and spend the rest of eternity making amends.

I had heard a similar story where the woman was just called the white woman. i hadnt heard of this one before but will definatly be doing some reading thankyou for this post

The first thing I thought of after reading this information was Andrea Yates who drowned all her children in the bathtub in Texas a few years ago.

I've heard it a little differently. I heard that it was an indian woman who killed her children as revenge against the man she loved because he married a Spanish woman and then killed herself. The song is wonderfully sad as well; thre are two versions on the soundtrack to Frida.

i have heard many of these stories. or urban legends. they all involve a girl or woman whose children have been taken away for one reason or another. same story, same lesson. protect your children.
