ok, time for some silly fun and games (hopefully lol).
i asked this question in my house and thought the general population might enjoy.
in the stephen king novel "salems lot", a vampire comes to a small town, and slowly starts the conversion of the entire population into vampires.
so the question is this: were this to happen in reality, would you try to fight the vamps, or would you willingly join them?
think that if you fight them, they may find you and put you to death horribly.
if you join them....would you enjoy it?
should be interesting.
~W~
I wouldve been part of the initial vampires who attacked the townsfolk.
and if you werent fate?...if you were one of the townfolk...
then what?
~W~
I would probably join the ranks and if i got tired of existing, i would be like..."hey do me a favor, kill me. i'm tired of living now." lol
Might as well join them if you can't beat them. Much better than dying a horrible death. Although if they turn the whole town, who do you have for dinner?
why die early? i say join them/ the life would be better
i would join them willingly, and of coarse there would be human daytime help that would be controlled closely. and when the town is drained we move on to the next one.
Only if it were the ONLY choice I am given.
I mean, being the fictional vampire is good - yes, that's always a given.
But for THIS type of vampire by the King of stories - Nosferatunian isn't quite appealing.
your right...not very appealing at all
but closer to the old lore than the new glam vamps that movies like to show now.
the vamps on 30 days of night are like this as well. of coarse they control their numbers by tearing off their victims heads.
makes for a more interesting question.
~W~
Would defintley need to control the human day time help.
If we didnt wanna move, we could always have someone go and abduct some dinner from other towns. Just a thought.
It really depends on the purpose for the vampire(s) being in said town.
I'd fight the vamps , just for the sake of fighting.... they'd make good opponents , and if they got me i'd get to fight the humans too Yay !
Never surrender.
Never give an inch.
Make me one. Fine.
Enslave me to your will and dark designs?
Fuck that.
I'll fight you alongside the remaining townsfolk with ub3r l33t powerz++
Considering that Its been a LONG TIME since I've read Salem's lot........here's my answer.....And Quinn Darling you are going to LOVE THIS!
Now being a AVID vampire book reader..........there are WAY TOO MANY different interpretations of vampirism.......there are actually only 3 series of novels That I ENJOY Reading IMMENSLY
The Anita Blake Series-Laurell K Hamilton
The Argeneau Series-By Lynsay Sands
The Black Dagger Brotherhood-J.R. Ward
Now with that being said here's my answer
I PERSONALLY Would enjoy being a Vampire's human servant (I.e Anita Blake Style) with the power to be kick ass and take names Should I so need it....:D
Fight, because I can't not fight.
Of course, my version of fight is a sort of guerilla warfare. They might kill me horribly if they ever get hold of me, but eventually I'll sink into the deep. Maybe I'd keep some cyanide just in case.
if i had to join the vampires, i will go
down fight for the last few mins of
be human
someone asked what the purpose of the vampires being in the village was...
the answer....food.
some great answers so far. i really do enjoy the different perspectives.
especially claudia's lol
~W~
Despite the differnt versions of vampirism portrayed in fiction, one thing is a constant. They all seem to have super strength and speed.
That being said, I defintely would not want to fight them.
If all these vampires want in the town is food, then there is no answer to give... just look at the movie: 30 Days of Night for example, the vampires were aggressive. They did not offer the salvation of a "kiss".
If the offer did come about then I am sure negotiations would be taking place i.e. quid pro quo. Unless of course they gave the humans no choice in the matter. Again, in that scenerio, there would be no answer to give.
the speed thing i think just started in the fiction of anne rice...but yeah, its pretty cool.
that said tho, i think anything is beatable.
just would you want to.
perhaps that is the better question....
would you want to defeat them?
~W~
If their intentions were justifiable, then why would one wish to defeat them. If they were aggressive i.e. 30 Days of Night, then by all means establish a tactic to end the tyranny.
I asked my spouse this question. He wouldn't go down without a fight. Reasons are that, you wouldnt have a choice in changing so anything forced is out of the question, and if accepting being among the ranks changed your fate in a vampiric death such as, not a "glorious" afterlife, then no...he would fight them.
I'd form a resistance movement, rally up everyone in the town who was not a vampire (set the meeting to be during the day >_> try not to sound crazy, preferably with a live vampire for them to see+believe, taking care to protect it from the sun before vaporization)
If there weren't enough people left in the town i'd raise awareness outside of it, and gather a resistance that way, then, in an exciting twist-ending, come across the knowledge that humans are the Real vampires, and the so-called-vampirism-disease that has already overtaken the rest of the world is just the next genetic step to perfection as a species *yawn*
i would join them even if i had a choice i would rather be a vamp than be prey for the vampyres first off and all i have to say is Screw being a townsfolk i want to be a vampyre :P
Personally I would join the ranks to kill the lot of them while they weren't suspecting it... I would at least try. I wouldn't want that many vampires running around causing a ruckus, drawing attention to us more specifically me and making my food scarce. Have to eliminate the competition sometimes.
I would definitely say take me!! lol I'd go willingly - it can be quite enjoyable lol
heck
i would be changed, then go my own way and reck some havack on some people who have annoyed me in the past
This remind me of 30 days of night. I will join the Group, get a the group divided and then, conquer the whole state. Will be like the invasion of Vamps. MMm...I am getting thirsty!!
I am a natural born fighter, never been one to follow the crowd so unless the give me a good incentive to want to join, I would fight to my last breath :D
I would probably be so terrified I would give in and let them turn me.
I don't really know. maybe try a Swiss style approach and do my best to remain neutral.
but historically switzerland has only been able to be neutral because of its geography (lots of naturally defensive positions where a man with a rifle can hold up a brigade of soldiers).
so, how would you recreate this in the vampire plague scenario?
~W~
I don't really remember Salem's Lot.
I guess it would depend on the type of vampire I would become.
If I'm some soulless beast who won't retain any of my humanity, then I would fight. After all why live forever if you can never love something again?
Now if I'd become some Anne Rice vampire, then sign me up!!! They for the most part are a little emo, but h3ll I'm already emotional.
It varies based on what manner of person I would be in that town. If I were someone who were terrified of death of course I would join them. Were I to be one with a strong will and faith I would gladly die. Should I be just as I am now, I would recognize that I have no choice--if indeed that were the case--and accept death. There would not be enough fear in the world to make me cower before anyone for mercy. This could either work for or against me.
Although I said ealier that I would join them, that was considering they would just be waltzing into our town and we would be defenseless.
However, given the oppurtunity to fight back and stand a chance at winning, I wont say I wouldnt be on the resistance side.
This thread is really not generating any kind of discussion. So I am going to close it.
