First off-- Happy Blue Moon of 2007 to any and all who celebrate as I do/did.

For those interested in the craft, or even just the luck having to do with full moons, I felt it best to share some information with everyone here.

If you really and truly have NOTHING to add to this-- please do not post. If you are unsure of something, OR have questions you would like to address in private-- feel free to send me message in a respectful manner.

I know I haven't posted a true thread in months if not longer *wink* so here goes.

~~~
A Blue Moon is that of a second full moon in any given month. Things done, spells cast, and prayers let out at this time have a greater affect on those around you.
Having just entered a full-blown coven as it's Crone aspect and Healer this year, I felt it was a perfect time to finish (as best I could) and bless my staff.
Consisting of snake skin from the mother's day powwow (my high priestess is also a shaman/medicine woman), a beautifully twisted piece of wood nearly to the height of my chest, and several peacock feathers and other personal bits, this staff is an integral part of psychic, rebirth, and underworld/dream magic.
Using various stones that 'vibrate' when certain words or meditation noises are sounded. Health, psychic clarity, fertility, etc were put into this staff. Herbs were sealed into a natural groove ans sealed with a special shell.
Blessed with oils I only use at my altar for special practices were also used in its construction.
I called upon my patron god and goddess in their memory and longing, with the storms and lightning casting its glow across the skies. I send with them a piece of my life and love as always.
Blessed by fire, water, earth and air, as well as the great above and below, and sealed with the soul I gave to it, I named it as I felt it should be named.
Closing the circle of 4 candles, and in turn blessing a small semi-precious stone for a well-loved friend who is in the hospital for some time, again, I snuffed each candle with my breath. From breath we come into existance, and without it-- we move through time.
Has anyone else bothered to do any rituals as of late? Has anyone taken part in another's ritual?
the spell I do is to help push away evilness and bad vibes to the ones I love, I use 3 candles, silver sand, a small thread of hair of all those I want to protect, some lavender, rosmary, one drop if my blood of my left thumb (the heart vein) then some sage oil, and I light it, let it burn till no more, I mark my candles with the marks of Alpha, Zeta, and Omega, place the boil with the oil and the hair along with other ingredients all together in the middle of the candles, in a triangle, in a cirlcle of the silver sand on the altar.
Et voilà.... No more evil, no more bad vibes.
Forgot to mention, this can only be done on the blue moon and also you need to say latin blessing and some rune writing in the silver sand, other wise this ritula is useless, it has to be done every blue moon.
I normally do goal-setting spells during a blue moon.
I stayed up until 6:00 am with the candles and incense burning while writing my book. Images were running rampant though my mind. I just came back from the bank at 3:00am. It could have waited but I feel a very strong pull to go, so.. I went. Turns out there was a guy, down on his luck, needing money to stay the night. Give him the money he needed. His stay was on me. Turns out his name was "Moon." I tried not to laugh too hard. Rituals take many forms. ;)
The Blue Moon also has another meaning than the second in the same month. According to the Moon Calender, the Blue Moon is the one that falls in the thirteen month. Somewhere between October and November.
I'm glad to see people taking interest in this.
Sadly, the moon is now only 95% full at this time-- but magic can still be done!
I did some blood work as well as a few other things, and I'm currently running off to get a dear friend a candle for me to annoint later on tonight for him.
(Pardon my /s as my keyboard is dying on me.)
Solitary practice is certainly different than
practice with a chosen and initiated Co/en.
Solitary practice only uses your personal energy. You can (as I posted at first) de/ise your own methods-- what comes naturally in your mind, what you ha/e to work with on the fly.
Within a co/en structure, things are more structured in ad/ance. What to wear (skyclad [nude] or robes), what colors are used, etc.
There is a bit of secracy in/ol/ed as well. For example, I can speak of things to illistrate points, but not an entire ritual unless I de/ised it myself.
If anyone else has questions, I'd lo/e to answer them.
I participate in online esbat and sabbat rituals and would like to meet in person with a local group. The esbat I participated for the Blue Moon focused on reflecting on the past year and then on goals for the next year.
I attend my coven esbats on the full moons, the blue moon included.
We form a circle by casting using fire(insense), and air (wand), and by water (aspergilum) and earth (pentacle). Call the quarters of North, West, South, and East using the sword. The God and Goddess are invoked by the priest/ess and ritual is then directed by them. The magick is raised by dancing deocil, faster and faster until all is a blur, then all drop and focus the energy to the priest/ess in the centre who holds the wand and directs the Cone of Power to the intended target. This can include healing someone or charging an amulet or crystal for use by an individual. The blue moon, being the 13th of the cycle, gives an extra dimension to the magick. If the moon is blood red, it is also a blood moon and exponentially increases the potency of any spell.
I was part of a HUGE drum circle in the mountains of Guffey, Colorado this year. It was beautiful! We were there to celebrate the life of a friend we recently lost, and thought drumming under the Blue Moon would be a great way to honor him. I have used drums in ceremonies before. Anyone else use drums?
There is actually no energy intensity difference from a 'Blue Moon', and any other full moon, as that is what it is...Another full Moon...Not to down play the normal Magickal qualities of the Full Moon...
I'm glad so many people are sharing info. :)
The blue moon was a big deal to -me- at least because it was the first one I recognized -as- an 'extra' full moon.
Eerything chemically balanced, high spirits despite all the crap going on in my life, etc. It was good-- ery good.
