Do you find that vampiric magic is more divine (coming from a more powerful spiritual source, much like in Wicca), arcane (coming from within the individual), or perhaps even elemental (coming from nature and one's surroundings)? Or is it something else entirely?

i think the interior within yourself magic is more powerful... like the energy you posses.

For me, and with the systems I use, It is a combination of my soul is the catalyst, the blood i shed in my rite is the focus of my will, the elements i weave in the micro and macro cosmic circle of flesh and the ritual area, and depending on what I am doing or not, I may evoke my deities to a certain end, and offer them something in return for their aid.

For combative magicks, It is either my energy, elemental energy or divine energy or a combination.

For defensive it is the same, either separate or some combination.

General spellwork would be my personal energy which I have expaneded by use of rituals to bind myself to the elements.

it comes from the body, the earth and so much more

I feel that the more around as I am the more power I feel, so yes I suppose that it could come from a divineity, but its more than that I feel that we all shair each others power, like its IN us but the more that is around me the stronger I feel...could become dependent?

I feel with my magic it is the intent. I am the conductor to bring in the energy from a higher source.

The magic of the vampire is both arcane and divine. I sometimes call upon the goddess, but mostly go with the arcane old self.

I believe that vampire magic is a bit of all three qualities, it just depends on individual vamps on how they tap into it.

I believe the magic has alot to do with the combination of all 3 things. The nature and your surroundings, being in tune with yourself, and connecting with a powerful spiritual source have alot to do with using magic.

i woul dhave to agree the more in tune you are with all around , the better the magic it takes lots of all to stay focused and in tune with what you are doing

Part of the reason I pose this question like I did is that I have noticed there are certani traditions or covens (or whatever) of vamps who seem to focus on one aspect of magic more than the others. One is really into the chanelling of spiritual or divine magic, very much like Wicca. Another is quite arcane, much like High Magick. Still others are just flinging whatever they can get their sticky little auras on *lol*, which is more elemental for the most part. I see alot of "Independents" on VR, but I'm sure there are the traditionalists here too. I am wondering how these things factor in when it comes to magic.

Seeing as that is the lense by which one gauges magick. Each in their own right being best suited for the student using such arts. Heh, those of us with sticky enough auras can freely move about any of the systems where information can be gained on the modus operandi of said system.

I personally believe that magic is sourced from an energy that an individual discovers within themselves. This energy is provided by a natural spring of energy in nature. There are, in my conception of magical energy, five different main sources: Earth, Wind, Water, Fire, and Spirit. These energies flow into a person through their chakras, but the most prominent one comes from their strongest chakra. this most prominent chakra provides the type of energy that fuels an individual's magical ability. My brother has found a very strong flow of Wind. this is a very powerful elemental magic. it grants him minimal control over weather and forceful wind. He's not tried to harness this power, so he can't really produce anything with it. I have found I have an affinity for fire. I can create heat from nothing by concentrating my energy to that one spot, use that heat as a defense, and can occactionally manage to breath out a good size flame from my mouth without burning myself. I know, fire breathers do this all the time, but for someone who is untrained in the art of fire breathing, this is quite a feat. So, yes, I belive magic is provided from an energy in nature. That is, of course, only my opinion.

What exactly do you mean when you say vampiric magick? Magick is magick it comes from within, their may be diffrent classifications of it but when you get down to it, it is all the same or atlest the end results...

I have no idea what vampire magic is.

I do not feel anyone is made more special than anyone else, by any means, I think we all have the same potential from the same source.

By vampure magic, as opposed to just withchraft or magick, I mean the magic that one is able to perform (changes upon reality by force of mind and will) that are fuled by the prana/mana/lifeforce that a vampire gets from feeding upon humans (or whatever else they eat). Does that help move the discussion along?

I believe that the magic one is using is only as powerful as one believes it is, as long as its being used to a good end.

All magic is within the person and gets help from the divine. It is all pulled from everything around you and your own will. "As I will, so shall it be"

I asked the original question because I have observed more andmore people who seem to be combining the myth of the vampire with the divine form of magical ritual and prayer in Wicca. Any thoughts on the matter?

The reason, from my view, is that most observe magic, through a religious view, instead of incorporating the aspects of magick and adapting them to their own spiritual practices.

Just because you follow a religion based on the theory of magick, does not mean that you have experience dealing with what magick really is, can do, and does, how it works, why it works, and the means by which things manifest. Even though no one can really know things things, even well formed ideas are better then living in a world that is just based on notions, instead of your observations.

That being said, alot of the postings on this thread have taken only that aspect into account. Because it is the only strain that people feel comfortable talking about.

If a hermetic said it, it would be due to the principle of correspondences and the laws of magick.

If a luciferian said it, it would be the antinomian current.

If a catholic said it, it would be from the divine.

It is all of these things, because they all come from the same source. However, the most common looking glass within any "alternative path" is unfortunatly the narrow perspective of wiccae. It has lost substance through all of the generations of new age books that have come out, rehashing the same thing over and over, and we see this, from Crowley, Buckland, Cunningham, the fore runners on this path. However, these new authors to numerous to mention add things, claim things, and base things of of poetic dogma much like the xtians do their bible. So how can you really expect different? However that being said. It provides aspects into the sameness of the generally community, which allows them to function in a semi-nonviolent atomosphere.

i do not believe that there is vampiric magick or atleast not to my knowledge but i do believe that vampires can practice magick...maybe you are referring to the nocturnal arts of the occult.

i beleive that magic is really a mix of all three the proportions may vary depending on the spell or type of magic

All combined are what I think makes majic. Some of us do not have to use physical things to make magic work. I also believe there are more than just the three types of magic as well.

Witch magick is more powerfull Vampire magick comes from beyound the grave and from the living dead. Witch Magick from the elements fire water air and earth. The dark witch craft comes from the powers of darkness. Some people believe vampires are agents of the devil. That they are creatures that have to survive on the blood of the living.

Vampiric magick I think may be a bit of all 3. As far as I'm concerned, all magick is a bit of all 3 really. Because if you don't believe in yourself to even be able to perform it, then something will usually go wrong. Most magick is tied naturally to nature because it is drawn on the elements, even if it is not realized.
