I've been reading an article about flight 19, a squadron of 'Avenger' bombers that went missing on a training flight on December 5th 1945 over the 'Triangle' even though the crew were all exprienced pilots, they had more than enough fuel (enough for 1,000 miles when the flight was 300 miles) & it was a clear day. Their flight path was from from Fort Lauderdale towards the Bahamas, turning north to great Sale Cay then flying back to Fort Lauderdale. In effect flight 19 would be flying a trianglar course within the 'triangle' itself. What my question is, what is people's belief's behind this story, what do u think happened??
Hay everybody, i've reposted this thread as people seemed to be having a really good dicussion plus there where really intresting idea's and theories being produced.
I'll close it in 24 hrs if nobody else wants to contribute to this thead or carry on where they left off.....:)
The story of the Bermuda Triangle has alway had me wondering what could be out there. You never know if something could be keeping ppl out or in for some certain reason.
I believe thatit is a vortex point. That is a high electromagnetic area that causes strange phenomena to occur.
there have been alot of reports of people or things going missing in the triangle. i myself am unsure if its really believable.
i still think it was a hurricane or a massive storm that could have been in the area at the time even if it was a clear day to some areas storms can be in certain area of that area and nobody would know about it at the time until it was too late to turn and that is what I think happened to them.
wow...what does happen in that tringle? i eman, so much is lost there....i woiunder....sience will one day find out....
This is a question that gets asked over and over. WHat is out in the Bermuda triangle? Things keep going missing. I myself don't know and I really don't want to go there to find out. It is interesting though. I think it is entirely possible that things are going missing there and that it is an oddity. I couldn't tell you why though. It's been a mystery for a long time and may remain that way. I'd love ot know what's happening out there. Again, not by going there though lol.
and there is another one called the japanese triangle with some of the same things happening there too
This has always been a fascination to me. I missed the previous thread, so I'm actually glad you reposted it. But I do want to look for it and read some of the contributions to the discussion.
In essence I really have no opinion on this, though it has been a fascination. Could it be possible that what many experts say about it is true?
I have wondered if 'The Triangle' was a portal to another diminsion of sorts. It could be that those pilots flew right into it. I can imagine they were quite confused when they got to the other side.
But then, if it was a portal, why couldn't they find their way back...
Hmm...
*Scratches head*
That's a good one.... We just might never know.
Its definately weird thats for sure i am not sure what happens in theseplaces but would love to know
There is also one somewhere in the great lakes I do believe or so I was told.
Oh, really??? I didn't know that. Do you know where there's any documentation of it? Just out of curiosity.
the Bermuda Triangle has always been something that I have been interested in .
And I have heard about the Great lakes also but have never checked much into it
Here is some info about the Great Lakes Triangle

I think that the triangle has something to do with a magnetic force underwater
I think the last time this came around, someone produced a chart that actually showed that the loss of ships and aircraft over such a huge area (500,000 to 1.5 million square miles) was actually less than in other areas of the world (~50 ships + 20 aircraft) source
The fact that for some weird reason someone started looking at it and anytime something goes missing is thought of as mysterious - when, in fact, it is no more mysterious than any other loss.
I would imagine that a training flight over sea with no point of reference, the planes at the back would follow the plane in front. Igf the guy in front made an error the whole squadron would be in trouble.
I do orienteering and know that if you have no point of reference and you get completely lost, you have no way of working out your location and no way to set a bearing to get you home. If you were travelling NNE from, say Puerto Rico to Bermuda, and slipped a little too far East - contining to travel NNE would keep you going straight across the Atlantic
I recall a study I read some time back. I will have to see if I can find it and post a link.
The theory that they put forth is that due to volcanic activities beneath the sea in this area, frequent but random outpouring of CO2 gas eminates from certain areas on the sea bed.
This CO2, in localized high concentrations has a negative effect of the bouyancy of boats and ships, suc that if they come accross an area where the gas is being emited, they can sink with little to no warning.
In a similar manner, the High concentration of CO2 in the air over one of these out-gassings can impair the function of aircraft navigation instruments, cause aircraft engines to stop due to improper fuel/air mixture (not enough oxygen in the air compared to the volumne of fuel) and also interfere with the air density, causing aerodynamic stalling. Any of these could cause aircrews to become disoriented and possibly crash with little to no notice.
The arguments put forth were very persuasive and were accompanied with experimental evidence showing how the phenomena would cause the described issues.
I will post a link when I can find it.
Oh, wow, I'm learning something here. Could that possibly be the same problem going on in the Great Lakes, too?
IF things go missing.. where do they go? Do they sink, or do they float off?
frankly i beieve it a mixture of bad weather and the magnetic force in the triangle
Flight 19 specifically, was likely a compounding of mistakes and errors perhaps aided by some sort of magnetic disturbance. However it occurred, it seems likely that the whole flight ditched in the ocean and were so far off course, that determining their final position is nigh impossible..
I want to know what goes on in the triangle. I may have to do more research on the great lakes triangle. I had never heard of it before, and I live in Michigan.
what goes on in the triangle are mysteries dude, nobody has survived long enough in the triangle to tell the stories of what goes on there
my father who was USAF and my uncle who was USN would talk about this event. both were flyers
i think that magnets were the cause of instuments in the planes to malfunction and the planes crashed some way and sank to the bottom.
The triangle is a place where many have perished. The Avenger was the standard torpedoe bomber for the US Navy During World War Two. There are many theories as to what happened. It may have been a navigational error. Maybe not.
