Ok, this is awesome...
"British heavy rock legends, Iron Maiden, in association with Banger Productions, EMI Records, Universal (USA) and Arts Alliance Media, announce that they will be releasing a feature length documentary film into cinemas worldwide on April 21st 2009.
As you may know from Rod's tour diaries, Iron Maiden have been working on a feature length documentary. Entitled 'IRON MAIDEN: FLIGHT 666', the movie follows the band on the first leg of their Somewhere Back In Time World Tour in February and March of 2008 as they experienced the most ambitious and adventurous tour in rock history, and will be released in April 2009 in association with EMI Records and Universal in the USA.
The Maiden tour plan was something that had never been attempted before on such a grand scale. Circumnavigating the globe, the band flew in a specially customised Boeing 757 airliner with their crew and 12 tons of music and stage equipment on board, playing 23 sold out stadium and arena shows in 13 countries in just 45 days, travelling 70,000km and performing to almost half a million fans." http://www.ironmaiden.com/index.php?categoryid=8&p2_articleid=1058
Wow, this ought to be so worth seeing. I also think it's interesting to see that Bruce was the pilot....lol Up the f*cking Irons!
I highly doubt that Bruce was the pilot. I'm sure that's just a photo op. I mean based on their schedule every other day was a travel day. Show days would have been filled with interviews, appearances, sound checks and a few hours here and there to grab some rest or relax before the show and then, of course, the after show parties and appearances. Even if Bruce is a licensed pilot and rated for that 757 spending the travel day in the cockpit would mean zero rest and him missing from any on board footage.
Scot McFadyen is very good at what he does so I'm sure the travel days are filled with "candid" footage and sit down talks. I can't wait for this.
Man, what a year this is going to be. Flight 666 and LEMMY!
Favorite Maiden album? Any real Paul Di'Anno era fans?
I would have to say Number of the Beast and Seventh Son of the Seventh Son are my top albums. Fear of the Dark is up there too.
I am so going to have to see this, only to watch out for my dads friend who is their photographer, lol
Actually that was NOT a photo op for Bruce Dickenson...Those of whom keep up with the bands history, know that Bruce is in fact a designated Pilot, with License and over 500 hours of flight to his name.
Bruce Dickenson is the flight captain for the trip. This is not a promotional gimmick. But a real fact. Bruce earned his pilots license for this very reason. Though he is not the only pilot on board, he is in fact one of the pilots that will be circumnavigating the globe.
Yeah, I remember hearing he was a pilot I just wasn't sure if he was rated for that class of aircraft. That's pretty cool though. Like I said I doubted but wasn't sure.
I called our theater here and the manager says they have no plans whatsoever to have that in their theater :S I wonder if it might be put out on dvd at a later date.
