Alejandro Máynez - Country or origin: Mexico
Killed at least two women in Ciudad Juárez, but he's believed to have killed as many as 50 women. Supposedly, along with two accomplices Ana Benavides and Melchor Máynez. Years as an active serial killer - 1980s to 1990s.

Billy Gohl
When Billy Gohl became the delegate for the Sailors Union of the Pacific in 1903 in Aberdeen, Washington, he quickly found his dircumstances tailor made for murder. The office Gohl manned as part of his duties was where seamen looked for work, checked for letters, and most importantly for Gohl, kept money and valuables after arriving from long stretches out at sea. Even better, the office building had a chute leading directly to the Wishkah River, which in turn flowed into the harbor and the ocean. Gohl would simply wait for a lone sailor to come to him and after the clueless man handed his cash over for safe-keeping, Gohl would shoot him in the head. It was then a simple matter of sliding the victim down the convenient chute.

At least 41 men were found floating in those waters until Gohl was finally apprehended. His final victim had last been seen entering the Union office. Gohl further incriminated himself when he falsely identified his own victim after the corpse had been found washed ashore nearby. Before dumping the man, who's name was Fred Nielssen, Gohl had seen the name August Schleuter engraved on the back of Nielssen's watch and assumed it was his correct name. He then replaced the watch before disposing of the body and exclaimed the man's name was Schleuter when the watch and body were found. Police knew the name on the watch was actually the watch-maker's and not the dead man's and they surmised that only the killer would have seen the engraved name. They quckly arrested Gohl for murder.

Billy Gohl was found guilty on just two counts of murder in 1913 and died in prison in 1928. He never revealed the total number of his kills.

Camargo, Daniel - country of origin: Columbia, Equador,

Child-murderer Daniel Carmago believed to have possibly raped and killed over 150 victims, primarily young virgin girls. Confessed to killing 72 victims, and incarcerated with fellow serial killer Pedro Alonso Lopez. Considered to be intelligent, and believed to have been motivated to kill from his stepmother abusing him as a child. He strangled young girls in Colombia and was arrested, but he escaped from prison and he started killing in Ecuador; rearrested in 1989, he was killed in jail.

Donald Leroy Evans
Arrested for the Gulfport, Mississippi, rape and murder of ten-year-old homeless girl Beatrice Routh, Donald Leroy Evans soon confessed to over sixty murders. Evans claimed that immediately after his discharge from the Marines in 1970, he began drifting and evidently killing just about everybody in his path. His claims of prolific serial killing immediately bring to mind the inflated kill totals of Henry Lee Lucas, who sent investigators spinning with his claims of killing more than 100 victims.

It appears that Evans may not have been exaggerating quite as much as Lucas, though it certainly does not appear that he killed anywhere near sixty. After being tried, convicted, and sentenced to death in the Routh killing in 1993, Florida authorities in 1995 successfully prosecuted Evans for the strangulation death of Ira Jean Smith. He earned a life sentence for that killing. In both of his trials, and during his entire incarceration for that matter, Evans made a joke of the proceedings, making ridiculous appeals and requests on an almost daily basis. His least shining moment of the Florida trial was when he petitioned the court to refer to him not as Donald Leroy Evans during proceedings, but as "Hi Hitler". The not-too-bright Evans didn't realize that Hitlers followers addressed their leader with the chant of "Heil Hitler".

Thankfully for everybody involved, fellow Mississippi death row inmate Jimmy Mack stabbed Evans to death in the shower in early January, 1999. At the time of his death Evans was the prime suspect in at least twelve unsolved murders.

Frederick Mors

Born Carl Menarik in 1889, Frederick Mors emmigrated to the United States from his native Austria in 1914 and soon found work at the German Old Fellows Home in the Bronx. Mors bordered on delusional, falsely claiming to be a legendary hunter and at the same time ruling the home with a heavy hand and forcing patients to refer to him as "doctor", though he was not and in fact wasn't even an important man there, holding down a fairly routine position.

Mors may have began killing very soon after he began working at the home, but nothing was suspected until January 1915. The clearly disturbed Mors was immediately suspected in the deaths of the elderly patient's deaths and under direct questioning admitted his guilt without hesitation. He had perfected a method of chloroform poisoning after having troubles with his first victim, who he had killed with arsenic.

Mors claimed he was only putting the old people out of their misery and making room in the crowded home. He was found criminally insane and placed in a mental hospital though he had murdered as many as seventeen people. Mors was to be deported back to Austria at one point but escaped the hospital first and was never heard from agai

Genzo Kurita - Country of Origin (Japan), Serial rapist and murderer, Genzo Kurita engaged in necrophilia in two of his murders. Two other victims were the children of the woman he targeted, who Kurita threw off a cliff (a third child survived). Hanged in 1959.

Juan Vallejo Corona (Country of origin: USA) - Corona was convicted of murdering ranch laborers and burying them in orchards in California. He was sentenced to 25 terms of life imprisonment. Proven # of victims: 25. Possible # of victims: 25+. Years as active serial killer: February 1, 1971 – May 19, 1971. AKA: The Machete Murderer. He is 81 years old now.

Kendall Francois


In early 1997, Poughkeepsie, New York, police became concerned about a rash of recent missing persons. Since October of the previous year three women had disappeared, all petite, white prostitutes. It seemed to be much more than a coincidence. Further alarm was raised when Catherine Marsh was reported missing in March. She had last been seen during the same time frame as the other three women. Police fruitlessly searched rapsheets and Jane Doe listings to try to locate the women but had no success.

On November 13, 1997, Mary Giaccone was reported missing when she could not be located to attend her mother's funeral. She also closely resembled the other women. Police had no promising suspects except a man named Kendall Francois, a lifelong Poughkeepsie resident who lived with his parents. Police surveilled and interviewed Francois and even poked around his bedroom but had absolutely no reason to detain him. He remained just one of many suspects until a January 1998 arrest for assaulting a prostitute in his parents home, for which he served fifteen day in jail.

Luis Garavito (country of origin Columbia) - Luis Gravito, a child-murderer, torture-killer, and rapist was also known as ”La Bestia” (“The Beast"). Confessed to killing 140 children over a 5-year period in Colombia. He is suspected of murdering over 300 victims, mostly street children. Years as active serial killer: the 1990s. Proven # of children Luis murdered: 138. Possible # of children he murdered: 172–300+ !!!!

Marvin Gray

Marvin Gray was convicted of the 1975 murder of Joseph Didier in Denver on June 5, 2001. Gray, 46 at the time of his conviction, shot Didier during a robbery after the victim had left his bank job. While only Gray's second murder conviction, he is now serving three life sentences. The unremorseful killer has confessed to over forty killings and police claim polygraph tests have tentatively confimed his likely involvement in over twenty.

Until the true scope of Gray's crimes are known, there is little doubt he will attempt to stay in the public eye with his various antics and outbursts. During the Didier trial Gray was forced to represent himself after repeated threats against his own lawyers. He has been forcefully removed from the courtroom for unruly behavior and threatening to hurt others in the court, a frightening thought considering Gray is so physically strong that he has to be restrained with leg irons. Gray is fond of the occasional interview, using them to boost his killer image. He has claimed to be a "natural born murderer", and says that "all I think about is killing people". He has also stated his desire to be put to death, forcing authorities to fear he may kill again in prison in order to achive that goal.

Phill Markoff (aka The Craigslist Killer) -

was an American medical student who was charged with the armed robbery and murder of Julissa Brisman in a Boston, Massachusetts hotel on April 14, 2009, and two other armed robberies.[2][3] Markoff maintained his innocence of all charges and pleaded not guilty at his arraignment. A grand jury indicted Markoff for first-degree murder, armed robbery, and other charges.

On August 15, 2010, Markoff committed suicide in Boston's Nashua Street Jail, where he was awaiting trial. The media have referred to this murder and other murders as "Craigslist killings" because the killer was alleged to have met his victims through ads placed on Craigslist, two of whom were offering erotic service
Markoff was suspected in three robberies – one of which resulted in the murder of Julissa Brisman – that occurred in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Each robbery involved a female victim, and the crimes were closely spaced in time and exhibited strong similarities.

Trisha Leffler (an escort) was bound, gagged, and robbed at gunpoint on Friday, April 10, 2009, at the Westin Copley Place Hotel in Boston, Massachusetts.
Julissa Brisman (who had posted an advertisement online offering massage services) was found dead on Tuesday, April 14, 2009, at the Copley Marriott, also in Boston.
Corinne Stout (an exotic dancer offering lap dance services) was the victim of attempted robbery on Thursday, April 16, 2009, at a Holiday Inn Express in Warwick, Rhode Island.

Quansah, Charles - Charles Quansah, who had been in prison for rape twice, was held as a suspect in the deaths of 34 women across the country, including his girlfriend who was strangled in 2000, and eventually confessed to eight murders. He later denied the killings, claiming that the confessions had been extracted under torture, and that the police had also tried unsuccessfully to force him to implicate a number of politicians including former president Jerry Rawlings, his wife Nana Konadu Agyeman and an unidentified member of president John Kufuor's administration. Proven # of victims: 8. Possible # of victims: 34. Years as active killer: 1993 to 2001.

Richard Cottingham seemed to be the typical guy-next-door. A former standout athlete in high school who worked as a computer operator in New York City, Cottingham was married with three children and considered a good family man. In reality he was a sadistic sexaul predator who murdered five women from 1977 to 1980.

Cottingham's first known victim was radiologist Maryann Carr who he abducted and asphyxiated in December of 1977. She was found dumped outside of a Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey, motel. In a more spectacular slaying firemen responding to a hotel fire in December of 1979 found two dismembered bodies in one of the rooms. Both were women with their heads and hands removed. Despite the missing parts having never been found one of the women was identified as prostitute Deedeh Goodarzi. The other woman remains a Jane Doe.

On May 5, 1980, prostitute Valerie Street was found murdered and stuffed beneath a bed in a room at the same Quality Inn where Carr's body had been found over two years before. Next came the slaying of another hooker, Jean Reyner. She was discovered on May 15 at a Times Square hotel with her breasts cut off and her body set on fire. Only a week later officers responding to a disturbance back at the Quality Inn in Hasbrouck Heights interrupted Cottingham while the perverted sex slayer was in the middle of what would have been his sixth murder.

Cottingham was arrested and a search of his home turned up an enormous amount of bondage equipment and trophies he had taken from the four murdered prostitutes. Once in custody and knowing his days as a free man where at and end, Cottingham attempted suicide several times while detectives where busy definitively linking him with the murders and three abduction/rapes in which the victims had been allowed to survive.

After three seperate murder trials, Cottingham had been convicted of all five homicides and racked up a sentence of at least 268 years in prison.

Shankariya, Kampatimar - Country of Origin: India. Kampatimar Shankariva was entenced to death for the hammer murders of at least 70 people. Hanged on May 16, 1979. Method of killing - hammering.

Timothy Spencer

Timothy Spencer is best known for being the first to be identified and convicted as a result of DNA evidence. His rape and murder spree began in January of 1984 when he killed Carol Hamm after raping her in her Arlington, Virginia, home. Another man was convicted of the murder and not released until Spencer was uncovered five years later.

Spencer resumed killing in September of 1987 when he raped and strangled Debby Davis in Richmond, Virginia, and continued just two weeks later with the slaying of Dr. Susan Hellams, also found raped and strangled. Next was teenager Diane Cho who was killed in her home outside Richmond in November. Susan Tucker joined Spencer's list of victims the next month when she was found, like the others, raped and strangled in her Arlington home.

Spencer was linked scientifically to three of the five murders, though her certainly committed them all, and earned a death sentence in 1988. He was executed on April 27, 1994.

Udine, Monster of - (country of origin: Italy) The Monster of Udine killed at least 4 victims in the Province of Udine, Italy. Proven # of victims: 4. Possible # of victims: 4+. Years as active killer 1980 to 1989.

Vasili Komaroff


From 1921 until 1923 Moscow police hunted a killer who had made a habit of murdering men and dumping their bodies, enclosed in sacks, in one of the cities poorer neighborhoods. Oddly, the corpses always seemed to turn up the day after horses went to market in the same neighborhood, which led them to horse dealer Vasili Komaroff, a man who seemed a highly unlikely suspect on the surface and was known as a happy family man. To his closest frends, however, Komaroff was a violent fellow who had once tried to kill his own eight-year-old son. When authorities paid Komaroff's stable a visit they discovered his latest victim under a pile of hay bagged and waiting for dumping.

Komaroff confessed to being "The Wolf Of Moscow", claiming to have murdered thirty-three men he lured away from the nearby horse market and leading investigators to five additional bodies that were still enclosed in the trademark sacks, undiscovered. Some victims that the slayer had murdered had been thrown into a river and never found. He claimed he had simply waited until the unfortunate men had turned their backs on him and then had bludgeoned them with a hammer or strangled them to death.

Apparently guilty by association, Komaroff's wife was charged in the homocides as well and both were found guilty of the murders. Both were shot to death by a firing squad on June 18, 1923.

Wayne Williams - (country of origin: USA) Wayne Williams was believed to have perpetrated the Atlanta murders of 1979–1981. After being convicted of two murders and sentenced to life imprisonment, authorities closed 22 other unsolved murders, declaring Williams to have been the perpetrator. Williams has maintained his innocence and the case was reopened as recently as 2005. Proven # of victims: 24. Possible # of victims: 31. Years as active killer: 1979 to 1981.

Xinhai, Yang -

Mr. Xinhai would enter victims' homes at night and kill everyone with axes, meat cleavers, hammers, and shovels. He confessed to 65 murders and 23 rapes. Known as the "Monster Killer". Years as active serial killer - 2000 to 2003. Country of origin - China. Criminal penalty: Capital punishment. Date apprehended: November 3, 2003. Executed: February 14, 2004, Henan, China.

Huang Yong (Chinese: 黄勇; pinyin: Huáng Yǒng; November 18, 1974 – December 26, 2003) was a Chinese serial killer accused of murdering 17 teenage boys (although he is suspected of 25 murders) between September 2001 and 2003

Yang Xinhai
Details are sparse in the case of Chinese serial murderer Yang Zinhai. Released in 2001 from a prison labor camp where he had served time for rape and theft Xinhai, 38, embarked on a killing spree unseen before in China. Before he was through 67 people in four provinces were dead and 23 women had been raped.

Authorities arrested Xinhai on November 3, 2003, because he closely resembled a composite sketch of a killer they were pursuing. In custody he confessed to the killings and rapes. He exhibited signs of possible mental illness, often rambling incoherently and shouting out in the middle of conversations. The prolific slayer claimed his crime spree was motivated by a girlfriend breaking up with him and a general hatred of society.

In addition to his confessions DNA linked Xinhai to many of the rapes and murders. He was sentenced to death on February 1, 2004. Later that month China's most prolific serial murderer was executed by a gunshot to the head.

Zodiac Killer

The Zodiac Killer was a serial in the 1960s-1970s in California that was/is unknown and never found. His copycat killer was found in New York (New York Zodiac Killer - see below) and is currently in prison. The Zodiac killer comes in second for unsolved serial killers, first place is Jack the Ripper. He killed and attacked people between December 1968 - October 1969 in Lake Berryessa, San Francisco, Vallejo and Benicia. He sent letters about the killings to local newspaper companies until 1974. Charles Edmund Cullen
(born February 22, 1960) is a former nurse who is the most prolific serial killer in New Jersey history and is suspected to be the most prolific serial killer in American history.[1] He confessed to authorities that he killed up to 40 patients during the course of his 16-year nursing career.[2] But in subsequent interviews with police, psychiatric professionals, and journalists Charles Graeber and Steve Kroft,[3] it became clear that he had killed many more, whom he could not specifically remember by name, though he could often remember details of their case.[4] Experts have estimated that Charles Cullen may ultimately be responsible for over 300 deaths, which would make him the most prolific serial killer in American history

Edward Edwards

Edward Wayne Edwards (June 14, 1933 – April 7, 2011) was a convicted American serial killer. Edwards escaped from jail in Akron, Ohio in 1955 by pushing past a guard and fled across the country, holding up gas stations for money. In 1961, he landed on the FBI's Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list. He eventually was captured and arrested in Atlanta, Georgia on January 20, 1962. Paroled in 1967, between 1977 and 1996 he murdered at least 5 people and is suspected in many other killings as well.[1]

Some investigators have noted that Edwards lived in northern California during each of the Zodiac Killer's murders in the late 1960s and would have, at the time, closely matched the Zodiac's description, although others dispute that claim.[2] Edwards's total number of murder victims will probably never be definitively determined, nor will his involvement — if any — with the Zodiac case

Genene Jones
Genene Anne Jones (born July 13, 1950) is a former pediatric nurse who killed somewhere between 1 and 46 infants and children in her care. She used injections of digoxin, heparin and later succinylcholine to induce medical crises in her patients, with the intention of reviving them afterward in order to receive praise and attention. Succinylcholine is a powerful paralytic that causes temporary paralysis of all skeletal muscles, as well as those that control breathing. A patient cannot breathe while under the influence of this drug. In small children, cardiac arrest is the ultimate result of deoxygenation due to lack of respiration. Many children, did not survive the initial attack and could not be revived. The exact number of murders remain unknown, as hospital officials allegedly first misplaced then destroyed records of her activities to prevent further litigation after Jones' first conviction.

Israel Keyes

Israel Keyes (January 7, 1978 – December 2, 2012) was an American serial killer, rapist, arsonist, burglar and bank robber. Keyes admitted to violent crimes as early as 1996, with the violent sexual assault of a teenage girl in Oregon.[2] He committed a long series of rapes and murders until his capture in 2012. He was being held in custody, awaiting trial for the murder of Samantha Koenig, when he committed suicide in prison.

Keith Hunter Jesperson

Keith Hunter Jesperson (born 6 April 1955) is a Canadian-American serial killer who embarked on a murderous spree in the United States during the early 1990s. Jesperson was known as the "Happy Face Killer" for the smiley face he drew on his many letters to the media and prosecutors. He had a violent and troubled childhood under a domineering, alcoholic father. Treated like an outcast by his own family and teased by other children for his large size at a young age, Jesperson was a lonely child who showed a propensity for torturing and killing animals. Despite consistently getting into trouble in his youth, including twice attempting to kill children who had crossed him, Jesperson graduated from high school, secured a job as a truck driver, got married, and had three children. In 1990, after 15 years of marriage, Jesperson was divorced and saw his dream to become a Royal Canadian Mounted Policeman dashed following an injury. After returning to truck driving, it was that year that Jesperson began to kill.

Leonard Lake.

Leonard Thomas Lake (October 29, 1945 – June 6, 1985) was an American serial killer who often used the alias Leonard Hill. Shortly after being arrested for a firearms offense and suspicion of auto theft and fraud, authorities were alerted to the crimes of Lake and accomplice Charles Ng when a confession/suicide note written by Lake prior to swallowing cyanide pills and committing suicide was discovered. Videotapes later found at his house provided evidence that the pair had kidnapped and killed numerous persons; they are believed to have killed from 11 to 25 individuals.

Nannie Doss
Nannie Doss was an American serial killer responsible for the deaths of 11 people between the 1920s and 1954. She finally confessed to the murders in October 1954, after her fifth husband had died in a small hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. In all, it was revealed that she had killed 4 husbands, 2 children, her two sisters, her mother, a grandson, and a mother-in-law.

Oleg Kuznetsov - (country of origin: Russia) - Killed 10 women and girls from 1991 to 1992; sentenced to death but later commuted to life imprisonment.

Paul Durousseau
Paul Durousseau is a serial killer from the United States who murdered seven young women in the southeast United States between 1997 and 2003.
