Leveling System

04:22 Feb 10 2026
Times Read: 102

Oh, WOW! So, your level doesn't lock when you reach a major number (there are also sub-points). I'm down from level 23 back to 22. So far I don't quite understand what affects what. I comment on Journals I find interesting and write my own, so do I only get points for posting to Stream or Forums?

If so, the system is rigged from the start. If you want genuine interaction around here, forcing people to post will turn into post-farming and that's why a lot of people use AI on here. I personally find that aspect of Vampire Rave extremely F'd up.

I will not farm points if they mean to make me post for no reason. That's simply not what I came here for. I came for an environment that inspires me, the place with people like me whom I might interact with. If posting is forced or "we'll remove points" then your website is for content whores.

There are a lot of parts that make up your score as a whole. A small part of it is Stream posts, main forum posts, posting in the forum of your Society, being in a Mentorship. Those are the things that usually fluctuate the most, as some of them require daily posts to keep them active. There's also your profile rating, how many things you've rated, if you've added anything to the VR database, which is what the main purpose of this site actually is.

You don't have to partake in any of it if you don't want to, you can still level up just based off your time spent and how many page views you have. It was easier when this site was more active, you actually wanted to participate in discussions in the main forum, there were so many things and people to keep you engaged and active. But, sadly, those days are long gone. VR hasn't been at it's peek in like, a decade.

@Immortalxkiss funny you should mention the database as the main function of site when I've been told it's broken by another admin. I know I've made entries and edits to update some that don't get processed. If it is broken then it may be wise to announce it so when members make entries they know why they don't get processed.

Well, my stay in the Mentorship didn't last long. It's fair to say that I distaste the dismissive approach towards my own person and in general.

If I'm talking to you, I want your answers, not something AI regurgitates. That tool is widely available and in case I want to ask something of AI or do a deep search, I'll go and do it. Communities are meant for communication, not automated copy-paste of messages written by the machines.

If you invite me to some Forum or Mentorship, but use AI to respond to people who join, you are no better than an AI bot. I know, a lot of people who think they are smart prefer the position of a middleman, but they have no idea how dependent they are.

Be independent, develop your brain. Don't let AI grow at your expense.

You get a 1% bonus of your base score for being in a mentorship until level 80 and when you create one you get some file storage. But other than that you can learn about site through messaging and these journals to get members experience. I'm really not a fan of AI myself. I do use Deviant Art which has many AI created ones but the best ones always get edited by a graphic artist or you'll see the aberrations like six fingers on a hand. Like any tool humanity creates it always seems to get weaponized or abused. Now it seems to be a novelty but do agree you should develop your own mind especially as an occultist. Data mining aside I think the matrix has elements of truth to it but not for the machines themselves but those who manipulate the masses for their profit.

AI could be wonderful if it powered editing tools instead of attempting a complete specialist replacement... There are very boring things that need automation such as in-betweening in hand-drawn animation, retopology in 3D, editing things in and out in photography... And of course the way the tool is used right now is highly problematic. I'm aware of cases when people trained AI models to simulate a visual style of a living artist and then sold those AI-generated images online, while the artist in question was getting constant verbal abuse about how artists should adapt or die out... I'm sorry but AI wouldn't be able to generate sh!t without all the work by real artists that was fed to it. It doesn't really understand what it's doing and doesn't think... unlike real humans, it doesn't build a 3D model in its mind, it uses learned visual patterns with words attached to them and combines those together according to prompt given.

So, you're using AI...

To all people who heavily use AI for everything - hear my call!

AI is making you dumber... It's not even a true intelligence. It's a statistics machine which isn't good for anything but advanced web search.

While it gives you a temporary boost to ego and self-importance, it will very soon mean absolutely nothing because everyone will be using it and it only takes from you - not gives. Do yourself a favor and go learn do something on your own. Train your brain. There are tons of games you can use for that. I use Lumosity, it is the best brain training program I've seen to date.

Feel like generating a novel from a prompt? Go learn a new language instead. You'll thank me 5 years later...

Instead of wasting 2 hours on trying to generate a desired image with AI, pick up a pencil and paper and try drawing your idea yourself. You'll be much better at that in a year. Start with small drawings just for fun. Don't allow your mind to degrade and focus on becoming the smartest person in the world of the future!

The terminator is putting many out of work from starving artists to vehicle drivers. But after the next world war I figure such things will be needed to do things the shortage of people can't. Hope its worth the sacrifice now.

Fortunately for us, the current AI is dumb as a rock. It's a statistics machine, no more - no less... I hear people get re-hired, but for a lower pay. So AI could be just a ploy to make people work for less..

VR Level System Debuff

14:33 Feb 06 2026
Times Read: 239

I've been waiting for someone on VR today. It cost me points ಠ_ಠ

My level went from 19.93 to 19.36 in a couple of hours due to inactivity. I think I won't be waiting for anybody any longer, because people tend to say "F.U." to time constraints and it hurts everybody in the end...

To say I'm simply angry is like nothing. I hate it when people give me totally wrong estimates and it wrecks my own schedule.

I already told somebody once that I hate people who are wasting my time. You can replace energy, you can regain the knowledge, but time is something you can never get back...

Cost you points for others not on? Usually because of not posting to forums and stream.

It's generally a good idea to copy your stats when you update your status then you can compare them and know exactly why you drop in level. Like Cadrewolf2 mentions its usually about posting in a coven forum or the stream which only last 48 hours. There are also manipulators that give low ratings or other bonuses that effect your score then when you are on the cusp of being inductable change them to be able to snatch them up. It's slim pickins finding active members now. Generally if you build a bond with a vampire you'll sync up with their timing.

Cost me points because I kept the site open without posting or viewing pages. I was waiting for a direct message in the Message Center.

Neowise2020

That wouldn't cause you to drop in level but would effect the Time Spent part of your base score. You have to make a page view under 5 minutes in order to get credit. If you don't when you do make a page view or refresh you'll just get credit for the page view. If you were waiting for a message then you would only get it through pages views or refreshing at which point a message sent would be received. I think the system works this way for the advertising which comes through a web browser unless you have an adblocker.

AlvaWings
AlvaWings
02:35 Feb 10 2026

I literally wrote down by how many intermediate points it has dropped. It was at 19.93, meaning I only needed 7 points to level up, but fell down to 19.36 and I had to grind for points AGAIN. I didn't see that mechanism mentioned anywhere, maybe I didn't look carefully... I was switching between the Dashboard and Message Center every few minutes to see if there were any new messages. Probably those two pages should have all leveling mechanisms switched off... so that you don't gain anything from writing DMs but also don't get penalized for waiting for messages.

Neowise2020
Neowise2020

I think it's best to copy your status update when you level or just periodically so you can see for yourself how you level up...or down. You have a base score determined by number of pages you view and the time spent you get credit for (under 5 minutes being limit to make a page view or refresh otherwise you won't get credit) that base score is effected by bonuses and penalties. These can be manipulated by people and some are determined by time factors like in the case of posting in the stream or a coven/house forum which lasts 48 hours. So they drop after that time and usually account for going down in level. When you hit level 80 you no longer get mentorship bonus. Being marked in a society can effect it as well. So when siring (level 100) you have to calculate at least 6% of your base score in order to retain your level. A couple months ago some f**ktard was creating new shell profiles rating me a 1 then blocking me then deleting the profile to give me penalties and creating new ones then after a month renewing them to keep them all active. Seemed like a lot of work to me. Probably some sadist with delusions of grandeur that didn't like the way I rated them and wanted revenge. The system can be exploited. Some spam page views to level up or use alternate profiles or other active members marked as their referrals to get that bonus. Don't look at favor points in some societies as earned either as Cancer has dumped loads on certain ones back when the site was very active. Since Iframes are allowed I've been thinking of creating some once I establish a society that will fix some issues in my society.

I Wish it Wasn't So...

Of course, everyone does what fits them, and that's fine! But... portfolio is called a portfolio for a reason. Why people keep posting random internet pictures or AI-generated stuff there is beyond me... I sort of tolerate and can rate portfolios containing photos taken by people who posted those pictures, but everything else? How am I supposed to rate something that wasn't done by you, people? Not really a rant, but close to that...

I want to return a favor and rate everyone back, but sometimes it's impossible for me, either because I don't like your profile and prefer not to rate than rate it poorly, or you emanate such an overwhelming something I don't dare to show my miserly sticker on your magnificent self-page... The latter also happened to me at least once on this website. I also won't rate if the person says in their profile they dislike that, or they don't want that from random people.

Other than that, I'm in a cool Mentorship now. I have my very own crypt topic now too, woo-hoo! 🥳 Nice and calm... All my own, but no one's reading so far. I think I'll still post there just in case anyone will be interested and because I like it.

I can relate. But not everyone is an artist to create their own. So they share those they favor others do, commission to create and/or prompt AI's to create for them. I think my opinion matters in a social setting so strive to rate accordingly but find it hard in some cases. In the case of portfolio's it's really hard when people either share their own work or put themselves out there in pictures of themselves which isn't easy to do. Then when they get downrated by someone that can't even do the same but hide in anonymity it can be frustrating. A lot of my rates are based not on an individual's actual art expressed or pictures of themselves but how it is presented as a whole. Someone recently rated my portfolio a nine breaking the perfect score I had but I take it as opinions vary and think its a mature attitude to have respecting another's opinion and freedom to choose even when it's done for malice; It sure would be boring if everyone thought the same way. I plan to mentor members in a coven so going to streamline that.

The minimum I give is 8. If the portfolio / profile looks like I'd give it less, I won't rate. So 8 is good. 9 is cool. 10 is outstanding in my book. I can't give everyone 10's. Impossible. Also, if a person can't draw well but is still trying, I will probably give at least an 8 for a good effort.

Landed in the proper Mentorship at last...

I'm now in Twilight Moon. I've joined the House of Serenity for a while, but left it soon after. As I've described in my previous post, House of Serenity unfortunately has no activity and staying there any longer even for sport wasn't viable. I'm enjoying the spooky atmosphere of the current Mentorship I'm in very much :3 After all, it was the very first one I considered...

Finally in a Mentorship

01:51 Feb 02 2026

I didn't expect an answer from anybody anymore, but suddenly got invited to the House of Serenity, following my request to them earlier this week. Checking out their forums - unfortunately not much info or active topics, and the ones I'd like to respond to are already closed... It feels empty and purely performative, but maybe things could change in the future? If nothing changes, I might want to change to the other Mentorship which is in the process of restoration now... Hopefully the fact I'm already in a Mentorship will lift the load off the shoulders of my secret Mentor and they will be able to focus on quality and not speed :3
