Saturday Morning
Seemed to be a awesome sunny day, perfect for the shopping we were supposed to do that afternoon. so we got up, I showered, ate and left for my mom's house. My brother was going to go with us. which was cool. mom wanted a rdie to work, so at 230 pm we got ready to leave, took mom to work, and then headed off to stratford to go shopping.
we got to stratford, bought our groceries, clothes, and then it was about 530 pm, we decided to stop for dinner. sat down to eat when part way through we realised it was looking pertty nasty out all of a sudden. so we hurryed, left and were on what should have taken an hour to get home.
by the time we got to the outside of the city, we ended having to put on our 4 ways and slowing down to 30 instead of the usual 80 highway speed. in the middle of 6 cars, all following one another in safety, the weather, so bad that you couldnt see past your windshield.
we were almost to sebringville when my mom called our cell, she told us to stop or turn around. I argued with her because we were past sebringville already and almost to the next town. she said stop there, cause we couldnt go any further. the MTO had all the roads closed up to 6 hours further south. we were stuck. we reached the tim hortons in mitchel and were stuck there. and about an hour after we arrived, they closed the road heading back to stratford.
fast forward: we were stuck in that tim hortons for 5 and a half hours. the baracades wouldnt be moving. staying over night in the small town? good luck, there wasnt anywhere left, people had turned to filling up what rooms were left in the nursing homes. nobody had vacancy, and we were stuck sleeping in the car all night.
Sunday: 1200 am
sitting in the running car. slightly cold, annoyed and tired. cant go past the baracades. thats the risk of life, insurance, and a ticket up to 500 dollars if your caught by the police. ~sigh~
finally at 1240 am the MTO decided that the roads were just clear enough to let the people go through. there were a dozen vehicles waiting to go to my town, or further. after we were all through and home, the MTO closed the roads agian, and have been closed since.
Monday
Roads are still closed, no figure skating, no school, and for some people, not even work. its been 3 days and still no let up. power is 'flickering' and its about-30, and is due to get colder because of 'artic cold fronts' from the north Nunavit is warmer then usual, while Southern Ontairo is freezing to death.
Canadian Ice Age Here we Come.

well bj called the safternoon, she gave me a pretty lengthy update. mostly that her mom is in the hospital for a good two weeks. she was sick and throwing up, the docs are getting her papers ready taht she needs before she can even be considered for chemo. she does infact have breast cancer. which is hard, she is a woman and all. but with her other helth problems they dont know if she would qualify. and bj is still worried that she will die.
its hard to be so far away and try to be there for her. I wish her mom the best of luck and hope that for bj, for amanda [her other daughter] and for herself she does not give up.
Were fighting right beside you mrs gilley.!
to everyone out there reading this, help support the breast cancer foundation in finding a cure. please.
