Harvest season is here. Onions have been picked and are almost done drying, tomatoes are being canned and dried, beans are being frozen and pickled, same with some of the peppers, and cantaloupe was a success this year! There's so much and even with the two of us, it takes me away from my studio work just to keep up. I don't mind though, I wish I had more hours in the day but it's good for me to stop and spend time on these household tasks and not get so fixated on my work.
Work, having "work to do" can be a crutch or a distraction from something I should be addressing or it's nothing greater than my tendency to fixate on specific tasks, either way it pulls me further from my relationships and my family, so there has to be balance.
It's tough to maintain focus these days anyway, so much bullshit happening so rapidly.
Work, harvest, process, rinse repeat. August is going by so quickly! Our sixth year anniversary is coming up and we decided on a cast iron pot with a lid as a gift. I like going by the traditional gift themes because it presents a challenge and makes it easier for us to do something together rather than separately try to gift a surprise.
Yesterday we cleared out our bed of carrots, about 24 lbs so nothing TOO impressive but decent. Most of them will be broken down and frozen for us and the dogs to enjoy throughout winter. Any remainders will be canned. Today we'll be doing more dilly beans as well since I can't get enough of them. The garden is growing really well this year, our peppers are so happy, I'm happy we're staying on top of things this summer.

Congrats on your 6 year anniversary 👏...
Happy Anniversary (early)! We also go by the traditional gifts. It makes a fun challenge to find something for each other; makes it where you really have to put thought into it. Love it!
Happy anniversary to you both! Wishing you many more years to come!
Thank you all! :)

Sounds like a successful year of gardening! It sounds like it brings you a lot of joy as well, so double win on that one! :D

It does! It keeps us (husband and I) busy and it's a way we reconnect when we get busy or distracted by life.
