In the game of life I was dealt a hand

That to play it best meant bluffing ahead.



An ace of hearts, for the love that I lost

Slipped through my fingers like candyfloss.



A four of diamonds was my closest friends

Never very many, but always the very best.



The three of clubs was the number of times

Life tried to stop but I managed to rewind.



A seven of spades for all those I lost,

And all of the pain and grief that it cost.



The final card I drew, hasn't been seen

Not yet turned over, the future underplayed.
