I hit that 20 years mark on VR this week.
That's just wild.
Thinking about that lifetime membership I paid for about 19 years ago...
Literally a lifetime.
Back in the day there was only one journal category in journals.
This was it.
So this is where my journal originally started.
As I approach my 20th anniversary here on VR, I thought it would be appropriate to journal under this heading a little bit more. But only good stuff. Good memories. Things about VR that I once looked forward to on a daily basis. After all, this is a category of the golden pieces of life.
In another adventure, I got to meet faeriemoon in an impromptu stop in New York when my flight out of LaGuardia was over weight and I decided I didn't want to continue on a flight that couldn't even take off. I volunteered off the flight and caught a new one the next morning.
I reached out to faeriemoon who I knew was going to school in New Jersey not too far away. She stopped by my hotel and hung out. We stayed up all night just having the best conversations, right until I had to leave for the airport and catch my new flight.
We already had gotten to know each other here on VR, but the opportunity to meet in person sparked a lifelong friendship. In future travels we hung out in NJ on the boardwalk. We met up at Downtown Disney and hung for a day. She eventually moved to my area for a while and we got to hang out all the time. I even babysat her daughter on occasion.
So much fun meeting people from all around the country.
It gives you such a perspective on life that you wouldn't otherwise have.
Faeriemoon doesn't live in the area any longer, but we still stay in touch. Perhaps she will return to VR some day once her kids are older.

It was in 2006, only a few months after I joined this site that I made my first in person encounter with a fellow VR member. That was Deity. We still stay in touch in real life over socials, but she hasn't been here in a long time. I miss her.
She was one of the first people here to make me feel welcomed on VR. We talked here, and got to know each other. Then as luck would have it, a job was sending me to Anaheim, right near where she used to live. We made plans to meet up. So I extended my travel by a day to spend an afternoon hanging out with her.
What a marvelously fun day that was. My rental was a convertible. We went cruising through the hills of LA and Hollywood. We saw the sights, we enjoyed the city, and then she took me to dinner and bought me fancy, fruity drinks that she insisted I try.
It was a heartwarming experience almost scripted for a movie.
So, to my friend Deity - I miss you being here, but I know you're well, doing well and enjoying your life.
I will never forget that day, and I will always appreciate you taking the time to meet a traveling stranger from a random website about vampires.

I miss Deity as well, she was so much fun!
One of these days, perhaps our paths will cross in either my travels or yours. I believe it would be a fun adventure! :D
Absolutely.
Although I don't travel these days. Road trip vacations are about it, and that's usually just to somewhere not touristy around here so we can travel with the dog.
I travel WAY more than I like.
For work?
So close you can practically taste it!
Who wouldn't want to be there to witness the thrilling conclusion?!

Thanks Cadre!
No doubt, CTD. Not long from now this will be one of those ghost accounts on the internet....
