I think I've been a little on edge lately? Dr says it's stress. Nooo, really?
Start clinical next month, have to do some things to my car, exams coming up have to find a room to rent, and my nan... who i'm extremely close to and has breast cancer.. has a blood clot and has decided to stop chemo and blood thinners, so now it's basically a count down with no due date. They don't know how long she has and I have to admit, I find it quite morbid when we go over there and she's... for example... putting her jewelery into named cases for my cousins and I.
I really don't know how to handle this, and I already KNOW I'm not going to ask anyone for help.. I did ask one good friend for help with uni, and she said she would... But i'm used to helping myself so have basically added that back onto my list of things to do (sorry Loni... She has a very busy life, too!)
This at the moment, is basically my rant. I don't want people I haven't spoken to in years sucking up to me with fake sympathy.
It is what it is.
I have been literally KILLING myself, studying. Pushing a 3 year degree into 2 years. No summer holidays over the massive 3 month break here around christmas time so that somewhere in the near future, I will be able to travel and work.
The U.S is fine, but it seems I'll be unable to work in the U.K as according to a lady I attend uni with:
"I just wanted to share some information that I have learned this week from speaking directly to the Nursing and Midwifery Council in the UK. They will not under any circumstances accept an application to register in the UK if an RN has undertaken study less than 3 full academic years, regardless of post-graduation experience or anything else. I was looking at slightly shortening my degree by 1 semester and this is not acceptable and according to them the 2 year full accelerated are definitely not acceptable to them. I know some students I've spoken to are going to rethink their study pattern in light of this information so I wanted to share it with you in case there is anyone that this may effect."
Grrrr... Fingers crossed that since I first started studying in 2006 and then deferred will come into account? But who knows. I may have to stretch out my nursing degree but another YEAR, putting my traveling plans on hold.
Very pissed off. Confused. We still study the exact same subjects, why does it have to be THREE years study.

That's some bull. *hugs*
Maybe you're right though. Maybe, just maybe you'll be able to since you started in 2006.
yeah, that is pretty stupid...
I guess maybe they think that, if you accelerate it into 2 years instead of 3 years, maybe you're not absorbing it as well as someone who does it in three years? I don't know, I don't understand why it would make a huge difference...
That's a shitty deal real there. How can they be that judgmental about a 2 year course? The nursing courses here in the US can be as short as 16 to 18 months and they are accepted just about anywhere.
That's what I call a major academic rip off.
