There are certain smells that take you fondly back to childhood. It might be a perfume, hot cinnamon rolls, or a particular brand of soap. Whatever it is, the time machine just propels you back.

Jergens Lotion, original scent. It smells like cherry almond, but even more, like my grandmother. I'm about 8 years old and she's handing me my special Churchy LaFemme cup filled with her amazing sweet iced tea and her hands smell like a grandmother's love.

Cherry Vanilla Cavendish Pipe tobacco and dry cleaning fluid ... They are my Grandfather. ♥

My grandfather smoked a cherry tobacco, too. I don't know an exact brand but any time I smell cherry pipe tobacco, Neutragena clear soap, Aramis cologne, or the smell of boats...it's him. It's really incredible, isn't it?

I love it when that time machine happens! For me it was honey suckle..........cause my grandparents had wild honey suckle growing all down the edge of their property line and they grew muscadine (sp?) grapes just beyond that.

I found a wine sometime back and when I tasted it for the first time..............it took me back all those years running around playing in their backyard....sneaking a grape or two off the vine, lol

Congratulations, Cadel Evans, winner of the Tour de France! First Australian ever to win The Tour!

Congratulations Mark Cavendish, winner of the green sprinter's jersey in The Tour! First British winner of the green jersey! (You are not my favorite person in the world, but credit where it's due - you are FAST!)

Congratulations, Sammy Sanchez, winner of the polka dot king of the mountains jersey!

It was a great race with moments that broke my heart and some that made it soar. Thank you. I can't wait until next year!

/primitive Aussie cheering

The first year I don't watch it... and an Aussie wins. Typical luck.

He was amazing. It was very emotional. If you get a chance, see if you can find video of him on the podium when the Australian National Anthem is sung. VERY emotional :)

It is an addiction. No looking away as a second changes everything. What else asks so much for so long, demanding patience and heroic resolve? Danger. Passion. Scandal. Heartache. Triumph.

Photobucket

For over 100 years, this has been known as Le Tour. It lasts three weeks and covers over two thousand miles of scenery that soars and circles through scenic towns and over the Alps and Pyrenees. These are images from this year's Tour which is still going...not too late for you to feast your eyes on the wonder that is The Tour de France!

Breathtaking

Photobucket

Hesjedal digs deep on the final climb to the finishline of the Galibier today.

The Agony

Photobucket

Photobucket

A crash is only a breath away. You leave precious time on the road which demands her blood. Sometimes you leave your dreams there, too.

...and sometimes, you don't

Heroic Feats

Photobucket

Hoogerland, the shredded man above, climbing out of a barbed wire fence after a News car swerved into him and another cyclist on Stage 9. He climbed back on his bike and not only finished the stage, but earned the Best Climber jersey - the coveted polka dot King of the Mountain jersey. We cried with him. After he received his jersey, 33 stitches insured he could still remain in the Tour.

Harrowing Descents

Photobucket

In excess of 50 mph, along cliff walls, often in the rain.

Passion

Photobucket

Nothing left in his tank, Voeckler, the Tour leader, fights to hold onto his yellow jersey on today's last climb. This is what that feels like.

TriumphPhotobucket

Andy Schleck wins the most brutal mountain stage in the Tour, closing the 2 minute gap between himself and the yellow jersey to only 15 seconds.

To win one stage in the Tour de France is a lifetime dream for most professional cyclists. To win the Tour itself ensures that your name will be recorded in history among the giants.

Anybody want to hear good news? The Student Sponsorship figures are in! If you remember, last year we helped 136 kids.

This year, 210 kids are going to receive: 3 school uniforms, shoes, and school supplies!!

We received 14 Thousand dollars toward this goal!!!

We exceeded my imagination. Thank you to everyone who made this possible. We are scheduling the distribution this week and will have printed postcards for the kids to sign if they want to. (with parents' ok) and decorate. I love that our thank yous will have a child's signature and fingerprints. Donors will hold in their hands genuine gratitude from those they have helped. Kids will have an opportunity to express that gratitude.

I think they will convey the spirit of this project far better than a thank you letter signed by me. But lest you ever doubt...I am so thankful! This was our most successful fundraiser to date because it raised the most money and gave it away to a cause that meant so much to all of us.

I am celebrating you today!
