The year was 1966, it wasn’t just the year we won the world cup it was the year that was to change music history………
I just watched a film called The Boat That Rocked, in the states it was renamed Pirate Radio (seems the yanks like a pirate or two) and financially speaking it was a flop both sides of the pond, which is probably why it never caught my eye at the time.
I watched it because it was recommended to me by someone who knows how I love my nostalgia especially where music is concerned.
I still think British cinema is a force to be reckoned with and you will recognise so many of the cast from films including Four Weddings and Notting Hill and the type.
I can understand the film being a flop in the States as it was a British feel good film and although the ship was fictional we could tell the very close resemblance to things that actually took place at that time.
About this time the BBC refused to play rock and roll music so nature evolved. When the government made it illegal the nation woke up and by 1967 to today over 300 radio stations playing 24 hour non stop music have come into their own.
I found myself laughing from the beginning and joining in with all the songs … great film.
On Sunday I had a roast dinner lunch which in itself is a treat and in the evening I snacked on a fried egg sarnie and it was delicious. Can’t make up my mind what I enjoyed more, I love the simple things in life.

Yorkshire pudding with that roast dinner?
Oh yes .. *blush*, two actually!
mmmmm
I love fried egg sandwiches.. Been ages sibce I had one, but you have put me in the mood!
...I took a bar of chocolate out the fridge to nosh on. It’s in the fridge because it’s quite hot during the day and stuffy at night. Anyway, I had a little trouble snapping a few chunks off (as I didn’t want to eat the whole bar), when it did break loads of bits went everywhere. I cleared up the crumbs but I obviously missed a few and they melted pretty quickly. I was sat at my desk and one piece went between my crouch and melted on my chair. I had stains on my trousers in all the right places I had smudges up both my arms and over my fingers and my t-shirt went from plain to polka dot in seconds. I finished that bar in a revenge attack!
