The timeline just lengthened.
This is going to make February a very interesting and stressful month.
Today was a good day. It was nice to take a break from the day-to-day and spend time just basking in love, and enjoying special moments with someone.
Last week I was excited about being published, but as life tends to do, everything good is followed up with a big serving of turd-burger. I guess it won't be that bad though, if certain projects coming up pan out as I think they will.
But today was a great reprieve from all of it.
Tomorrow night we're going to try out a new restaurant downtown called, The Archer.
When I first heard this restaurant was opening I was thinking... "Danger zone!" But, no, it has nothing to do with the animated TV show. They serve exotic meats. Should be fun, and interesting!
Always a bit healing to get out and do a little networking. Especially when good food is provided.
Tonight was Hospitality Industry night. The challenge was a chili cook-off. Four of the city's top chefs pitted against each other.
The traditional Rockabilly Pork Chili with the pepper, grilled squash and guacamole toppings in my opinion was the clear cut winner, but I have to give props to the Beer braised ostrich celeriac chili with scallop ceviche....
Took a nice long hike today to clear my mind. The snow was deep, and thick since has snowed for the better part of the last two days.
It was cathartic to hike to exhaustion. My life just doesn't feel physically active enough right now. Too much work to do, and too much of it involves sitting in front of a computer.
I have two scheduled shoots in studio over the next 10 days, plus two events to shoot.
At least those are opportunities to not be sitting, even if they result in sitting and editing...
My life has been in a blender the last couple of months.
I try not to get down about these things, but you grow weary of it at times.
I said at one time I don't want to live an ordinary life. I suppose that I'm not. That's a good thing. There are a lot of good things.
I'm just missing a few essential things and it make it difficult to embrace the good. I have a month to get this done. I have to make it happen. That's my deadline - one month.
Off I go....
Polar Vortex!
No, more like just another nasty winter day here. It happens. We get about 5 or 6 really nasty days every winter.
This, is no big deal here. A little colder than normal, but for the forty... that's right FORTY inches of snow they predicted my area would get, we've probably barely cracked the 12-inch mark.
And with 45mph winds, you get some knee deep drifts, and some spots where you can see the grass or pavement.
Big deal.
My house looks festive plastered in snow. :)

Yes it does! LOL and it isn't that bad here either. F*cking cold, but aside from that, more of the same o same o. Only difference is the dogs aren't really going outside. But they are also not behaving badly.
Ok back to worky work for me.
Um...it's usually in the mid 50s to low 60s most days here...gets 'cold' at night to as low as 30.
But...I guess this is balmy weather compared to where you are...lol.
(I'm in California - the Bay Area).
I know where you are....
...I've stalked you, my pretty....
Hey, -1F isn't THAT bad. Just walk quicker and put on a sweater, eh?
I always thought snow was a pain in the ass until I lived in western NY. I live in the hills again and it looks like a Disney movie. It drifts down and you think nothing of it. In Buffalo it comes at you like it wants to rape and pillage haha.
After a bit you get used to it. It's a long bit though.
Have to learn to take the good with the bad, right?
It comes at you like it wants to rape you, but it does come at you like a tornado, or hurricane, or volcano....
...or earthquake, or tsunami, or land slide or any other natural disaster that is infinitely worse than something that will melt in 4 days.
You get those winds off the lake here - spoils of living someplace pleasant and beautiful 8 months out of the year, you get 4 sketchy ones.
Not every place can be Southern California. But then again, in 50 years Southern California could be Arizona Bay.
