Forever shines

00:02 Jan 31 2009

She distances herself

Traveling on her way

From his radiance and heat

Wishing she could stay

Watching him with glances

Over glaciers of apathy

Too hard to rest on

Too cold to comfort

And slowly from her view

His light fades

Dimming on her way

Through her heavy atmosphere

His heat

Now barely touching her skin

The fields of the past

Are mountains of the future

The depths of the oceans reach

To the clouds high above

Weeping for the river

Born to feed the land

And all the colors given

Existing from his hand

Ever changing on her way

Making little changes each day

The cold and dark surrounds her

Her gown of white turns gray

Before her now

Only the empty black

Interrupted

With all these distant points of light

And maybe

Her hero is there

Waiting

Reaching to her

With the bursts of gamma

Light years away

And the life and death

In random clouds

Of iridescent dust

Between the galaxies

Spinning to their black hole doom

And she wonders

Looking back

At his pulsing light

Remembering how he touched her

Hands of warmth

Hands of love

And she wonders

What if I die this day?

Forever lost in this universe

Frozen and empty

Uncaring and unforgiving

And to this heartless universe

An insignificant amount of time

The eons collide

Stretching the boundaries

Of what is yet to exist

And in a second of time

The planets make their solstice

And a day goes by

When the comets make their return

With their messages from the heavens

And the years are measured

With a kiss from a distant star

And in her lifetime

This galaxy spins one more time

A billion years spent growing

And a billion more to learn

And a billion more to love

And a billion more…

Veins of ice

Web across her skin

And still behind her

She can sense

The heart of her hero

His loving light

Forever shines

At first I was'nt sure which was my favourite part, then I realised I liked all of it.

The pictures you've painted with your words are stunning. I can see through her eyes. The emotion is tangible. You never cease to amaze me.

The hero of the day...

05:45 Jan 26 2009
Times Read: 1,039

Through a long breath out

His spiced sigh

In the heat of his passion

Between out-stretched arms

He reaches for the maiden

So distant

Coveted but unreachable

A cold distance

The silence of the distance

And the silence of the space

Too much to bear

Within the heat of his heart

The heat of his passion

Blinding luminescence

Reflected by all that surrounds him

Still his only desire

His mistress to possess

He seeks to lie

In her lush fields

To rest his head

On her mossy grounds

And he seeks to taste

The bounty of her lips

To have the pleasure

Of her sweetness

On his tongue

Still her cold shoulder turns

The other cheek

Icily toward him

Frosted from her winter blanket

Not warmed by his kiss

Or his breath

Unknowing of his heart

The chambers inside

And the room he has made

Where his life flows strong

Her lips seal in

Her hanging breath

While she pretends

To ignore

The flames from his belly

And the heat that can burn away

The façade of her frozen gaze

A school girl’s game

Blissfully uncompromising

She spins around him

And she spins away from him

As he lights her way

The game goes on

This poem is a wonderland. I've read and reread each line numerous times...so filled with imagery and emotion.

To have faith and belief...

06:34 Jan 22 2009
Times Read: 1,065

Under the blanket of white

The Earth reclaims her right

As the feet turn to inches

Slowly before their eyes

The heat and fury

From deep below

Stretch and yaw

The fingers of the woman

Buried alive

Claw and dig and scratch

From underneath

Consuming her prison walls

High above

The hero of the day

Fights valiantly

Behind the colossus of the sky

To reach his fair maiden

Strands of golden curls

Drape the frozen towers

Her sentence

His quest

A word spoken

Like the sweetest honey

From her desirable lips

A word for his sake

A word for her hope

“Faith”

With the word

Fresh on the vibrations

Off her tongue

Echoes through the millennia

Giving rise to his heart

Buoyed from the stratosphere

Filling the salty oceans with tears

And love

And hope

And the fears of eternity

And the words spoken

From the lips of another

The fruits of his soul

And the passion once long lost

“I believe”

With those words

His taught muscles strained

Lifting this galaxy of weight

Deftly and agile

But seemingly insurmountable

Tired and weary

Crossing the light years

To drench her skin

To warm her fields

And ignite her flame

The steely silver blades

Threaten in his way

His time is short

To win his battle

To save his mistress

From the slumber of eternity

The dagger blades

Drive toward his heart

The time passes

And days go by

And still she lies

Under snowflakes that cover

Her glistening flesh

Soft and supple

Waiting for decay

Or her hero of the day

Beneath this ring of fire

In the winter freeze

Ice and snow

Shift to tiny daggers

Pointing to reach the flame

But with each passing moment

They creep farther away

Don't denigrate your haiku. Leave that for the people who really love you.

Personally, I rather enjoy your poetry.

...

Her frozen gaze to the distance

Looking to the future

Looking away

Left behind

The forlorn and forgotten

The unforgivable from the unforgiving

Through the broken window

Glass on the floor

The empty window

Hiding what she will not see

And she looks away

Instead she seeks the refuge

Of the amber prairie promise

And the wanderlust

Found in the blue sky

Spotted with white clouds

Peaks of mountains

White capped

Waves crash

White sand

An hourglass

And the promise

Of everything

And from what she mourns

She looks away…

Shallow pools

17:06 Jan 03 2009
Times Read: 1,156

A muse by this time would have found

The words that set the feelings

The feelings to put into words

Stagnant and stalled

The blank sheet of white

Mocks my hands to inaction

As I watch the syrupy drips

In the empty glass

Cast snail path trails on my desk

Where my stomach has joined my heart

And tightened ribs can only grasp

Quick gulps of poisoned air

I sit

Unable to move

Powerless to call to action

My mind or my pen

Incapable of escaping

The thoughts that drown

My swelling mind

My aching mind

Unwilling to be broken

By the world resting on my back

For this

Is not my life

But that which I have borrowed

And the memories I have created

Are not mine

Only shallow pools reflecting

On days gone by

The blank page still stares back

Past the empty glass

As ripples form in the pool

Reminding me of that time

And I pause…
