Seeing into darkness is clarity.

Hi - I hope you are all well-fed, thriving.

I'm back to renew my membership in this community, though I've been a terrible member. I was fortunate to find really good, creative work at a time of economic horror. While it didn't pay much, it taught me a lot. I'm still at it, so browsing time remains hard to come by.

I apologize to the friends I knew here. I don't yet know how they are. It feels good to be back!

I'm still grateful to my visitors.

Bats Pictures, Images and Photos

Timelessness appeals to me....

I still love 'The Crystal Ship:'

'Before you slip into unconsciousness
I'd like to have another kiss
Another flashing chance at bliss
Another kiss, another kiss

'The days are bright and filled with pain
Enclose me in your gentle rain
The time you ran was too insane
We'll meet again, we'll meet again

'Oh tell me where your freedom lies
The streets are fields that never die
Deliver me from reasons why
You'd rather cry, I'd rather fly

'The crystal ship is being filled
A thousand girls, a thousand thrills
A million ways to spend your time
When we get back, I'll drop a line'

I don't care so much about the great vampire works, though I I've read 'Melmoth the Wanderer' and "Carmilla.' I like the original 'Nosferatu' and most of 'Near Dark.' I'll probably post a journal entry about...'Twilight.'

My tastes are not confined to the Gothic. I love Stan Ridgway's Drywall projects (fans of Mark Ryden will recognize Stan and his collaborator Pietra (Hecate's Angels) Wextrun for their having composed the music for 'Blood'). I like that old Faith No More song, too. Right now I'm on Fever Ray....

Some movies I like (my mother is a filmmaker, so I got exposed to a lot of visions):

Aguirre The Wrath Of God, Black Narcissus, Blade Runner, Blue Velvet, A Boy & His Dog, Bright Future, Carrie, Charisma, Children of Men, The Conversation, Cure, Dawn of the Dead (Romero), Day of the Dead, Dead Ringers, Dead Zone, Don’t Look Now, The Fly (Cronenberg), The Funeral, The Good, the Bad & the Ugly, Happiness, Henry, Portrait of a Serial Killer, If, King of New York, Lacombe Lucien, Night of the Living Dead (Romero), Road Warrior, Ms. 45, My Beautiful Laundrette, Natural Born Killers, Nosferatu, Picnic at Hanging Rock, Quadrophenia, Requiem for a Dream, Rude Boy, Salvador, The Shining, Walkabout, Wild in the Streets, The Year of Living Dangerously

I have long hair and wear black of course, like my kitties. We all enjoy some sunlight now and then.

I love nature in all of its manifestations, cruel or brilliant, as you'll see in some of the images I post. The green things feed on bananas. The photo that looks like a nesting bird of prey shows an underwater volcanic eruption off Tonga. Then there's the Valley of Desolation on the Caribbean island of Dominica. I met a runaway cat (bottom) living among the fumaroles there; her famously deranged master kept dragging her home, but she preferred to live on varmints and volcanic rain forest half-boiled runoff water.

I enjoy history, poking under the tales the winners put out there.

I 'm still deficient in the culture here. I wish I had more time. Isn't that what vampires are supposed to get out of all this?

I hope soon to resume visiting the pages of everyone who has stopped by. I should make it clear that I don't subscribe to the 'tooth for a tooth' practice of trading ratings of 10. I'm sure I've merely appreciated some pages that were more generous with mine. I frequently do not vote at all. I don't dream of punishing people whose thoughts or images I liked with lower ratings when (as has happened) I later find out they deemed me a moron. I appreciate all visits and I tend to reward profiles that make me feel I've encountered something powerful or remarkable, which can be something as simple as fierce emotion, sadness, or a single memory or image.

If something I see later haunts me, I try to figure out where I saw it and rate it. I'm still looking for a journal entry I read in my earliest days here.

I hope to post something as powerful as stuff I've seen here.

Before I faded, I posted some entries in the journal. Inspired by you creatures, I even wrote a poem. Welcome to those.

Thanks for your visitation.

Yours in Darkness,

L
