Ok so this is my first thread and figured I'd start with this.

Any affinity is a go on this thread. Please tell what it is, how you feel using them, and anything else you feel the need to add.

I have an affinity for cats and fire. With cats it's like a mutual trust/understanding relation ship.(AKA I talk to them they talk to me) I can see things in a flame and the flame always shows how focused or scattered at that time.

hmm...my affinities are completely of a spiritual nature but if there is an element that pairs with my inherent epileptic personality...random as it is at times...:P It would be Lightning...;)

Animals,cooking,gardening,poetry,friends,driving.I need something else to fill up my time,cause I'm growing bored with these affinities.

I have an affinity for the school we call life! No classrooms, no books, rare to find a teacher. Capable of realizing dreams, destinies or send you crashing down into the ether! Nothing like it!

Well I started off by looking up the meaning of "Affinity"

And then... I came to the conclusion that I would have an affinity with quite a long list of things.
Companionship - With my significant other.
Close agreement;connection with people... I get along well with other people and tend to love interacting with them.
Some others would probably be with technology, learning, knitting, crocheting, cooking etc.

Can't further my list because it may go on for a really long time.

I have an affinities with Nature, and wolves. I have always felt an affinity with wolves they are so majestic and very much a pack animal. I am too, just looking for the right pack. As for nature, i love being in nature feeling the cool breeze on my skin.

I have affinities for mermaids , water , animals and storms.

Small children seem to know that they are safe with me. I think they are more aware of good and evil than most adults. It brings me great joy to sit with a group of children and read or talk about what their wonderful little minds dream up.

The animals I have with me are my children (to cats and a bunny). I do not call them "pets" for personal reasons, but I was raised with animals and have the utmost respect and admiration for all animals. I feel the deepest connections with most I come in contact with or raised as if I can now understand them, not necessarily by the noises they make, but by the bonding of our spirits. I believe this may be what you would call my affinity.

A little more would be babies - They are just soo cute and playful! They seem to understand me well.

My mother - As much as we argue and fight, I love her. She's my blood and I am hers.

The rest of my family - Although I may dislike few due to certain circumstances, when it comes down to an agreement, it will be made.

One of my affinities would definitely be with trees. I am absolutely miserable in a place does not have them.

I have many affinities. Animals is one of them. I have a love, understanding, and trust for most animals, but horses, cats, Exotic birds, and some dogs tend to draw me closer.

As an Empath, I am also drawn to people, in general. Most people get freaked out by the fact that I know them better than they realize. It is simply because I feel what they feel. Unfortunately, I have also passed this trait into my children. It is difficult to explain to them why they are able to feel the things that they do when they are around people.

Like most people, I also have the strong affinity to...sleeping. I've previously stated in the "Dying in Dreams" thread that I have prophetic dreams. These premonitions have aided me in the past, and will continue to aid me in the future.

For me animals, storms..... earth/nature in general.

Sex...Guns...Reggaeton

Life?.....I take it as it comes...kick it in the ass if it decides to try and bite, and live it like there's no tomorrow (within the parameters of common sense)

Ok this is a good out look of VR affinies. So now I'd like to know if you've ever heard of a person with a death affinity this could range from meeting the dead to seeing a persons death before it happens etc........ And have you ever seen a dead spirit within or without of a body

Um... A death affinity is different but I don't really know anyone with one.
I know there may be individuals who love speaking to them and generally have a major connection with them.

I have infact seen some out of body.
It was quite normal, just a white floating thing. xD

I suppose mine would be The goddess, drawing people to me, waterfalls , third world countries, and nature. and I do seem to have a way with animals.

My affinities would be the beach and ocean, animals, the forrest, dragons and moonlight!

hmm...Death Affinity...well, that would be a definite other for me....part of the epileptic brain is having "psychic symptoms"...and for many years, death premonitions have been a major part...usually striking out of no where...like lightning...o.O

Forgot to add also expert on debunking Urban Legends and a history buff as well.

My affinities is to nature in all forms .Also to energy in which I see ,feel and hear it every second non stop .I never have complete silence.

I've never heard of it called a "death affinity before, but I have heard of similar experiences. I used to live in some college dorms that had murders long before they were even hotels. There were some Wiccans and Pagans living there, and they have all experienced seeing and feeling the spirits and death where they were killed.

I would see some shadowed wandering things glide across cemeteries as well.

While I like lightning,it seems to have an affinity for me! LOL No kidding.Ive been struck at twice.Both times I was with the same person!The first one hit the car we were in,and the second struck one of our infrared cameras that is between her house and mine.I got shocked inside and it fried the camera system in her house and burned her wall.
Odd thing is,I liked it!
But some more for me would be music,children and elderly people.

Ok seeing what some of you consider affinities I thing mine are nature, fire, rain/lightning, animals(predatory and birds), dance, energy,and that's it I think. Thank you everyone for sharing but I'd still like those with elemental affinities to describe how they use/feel it.

Wind: I can call Wind to me, listen to it, speak with it, send messages with it, use it to my will.
Fire: Same as Wind.
Star: Same as Wind and Fire.

i have this affinity with hair. with a special someone's hair. i just love to bury my face in her hair and smell the scent of it. or is it an affinity to wanting to be as close as possible to the one you love?

hmmmm I suppose I could fit into a death affinity. Never thought of it like that.

As I could I used to sleepwalk and a couple times was found sitting in cemeteries. I always had "imaginary" friends that I spoke with and interacted with as if they were normal people.

I've seen several spirits and had physical interactions with them as well. I've been grabbed and touched and moved by spirits. Alot of my friends sometime will have me go to their houses or apartments when they move to see if there are any spirits already there.

That is partly what led me into Paganism. Especially once I read about Nordic magic, even more thoroughly into Blue Paganism which works with water and the dead.

Lightning, f**ing chases me around...like to watch it but not too close, for obvious reasons.

Earth, Air, darkness. Those are my affinities, I don't care why they just are.

I would have to say that I have an affinity for the violin (it's sound. Can't play one.) I also have affinities to large bodies of water, dark woods and forests, and the sound of the wind in the desert.

I have a friend who may have an affinity for death being that she naturally draws spirits to them and also tends to know when someones time is about to end. Its not something she actually enjoys but she's dealing with it nicely.


As for me I have a natural bond with felines but even a greater pull to air. Though I am deeply rooted to nature, for I always feel my best when deep within a thick wood, nothing compares to standing outside as the wind rushes by me. Swirling and ever constant with the scent of distant lands. Heh...

Anyhow; other random things would be children, libraries and of course the pull of the moon. The great symbol of the Goddess =]

I have affinities for dogs, and the elements of Earth and Water. When I am around a dog that is angry or in pain, all I have to do is give it a friendly look, a soft touch, or send it a gentle thought and it calms down instantly. I was even once able to use this technique to stop a police dog from taking down my friend, who stupidly had drugs on his person, and even more stupidly used a knife to threaten the police officer who had accosted him. I then urged him to go quietly and he is now on parole.

I have always felt safe in the water, I'm training to be an olympic swimmer/ diver and every time I jump in the pool all my worries just stay on land. I currently hold most of my high school records for freestyle and backstroke and have broken several city and state records as well. Swimming and writing are probably the only talents I possess.

Earth also has a particular closeness with me. When I touch the grass or sit in a tree to read, I feel as though the Earth and I are one. I'm also much closer with Earth than the other elements and therefore use mostly Earth- based magick. If I am in a bad situation, in pain, or doing a difficult task and feel discouraged, I can simply reach down and feel the grass, close my eyes and let the element fill me up and I am more empowered to accomplish my goals. I also can grow any plant very well with ease which helps me keep my own herb and spice gardens, along with many lovely flowerbeds.

Ok so I see that some people on here are listing things that they are drawn to. I'd like to focus on whatyou can do with it.

Last thing if you agree that many of the animals people are familiar to are or could be familiars in witch craft. Thoughts?

Yes most of the animals posted are common familiars for witches. Cats seem to be a common topic. I, however am not fond of cats, since my twin sister almost died from a scratch when we were seven. We both, therefore are drawn to dogs, which are not often known as familiars. My sister's connection is stronger than mine. I simply calm them down or make them come to me. If she focuses, she can connect to them, and they will do her bidding. She chooses not to use this ability however.

I think the reason so many people are mentioning familiar animals because many of the people on this site are Pagan or Neopagan. Even scientific studies show that Pagan people, due mainly to the levelheadedness that most of us naturally possess, make certain animals, especially cats and certain species of bird, attracted to us. And we often tap into this connection, giving us a special relationship with these animals.

The moment that my Ankh went round my neck, it felt 'right'. It describes how I feel, what I believe...

..and it looks good, where it is.

My affinities would be my close circle of friends, Tigers, Storms, the Beach and Rainforests :)

Samantha,Im not sure you one might consider horses familliars,but I am suppounded by them every day,I can do anything with them and they have allowed me to earn a decnt living by doing so for many,many years.Not to mention allow me do do many others things in life I have an affinity for .

Affinities I like many things but affinities I would have to say water ones I get in a body of water I usually don't come out for well a long long time and its awesome feels "right at home" this feeling is also extended to and kind of small boat raft canoe etc. voyage over water. What can I say I'm a pirate at heart. There was something else oh well when I remember it i'll post it.
