I have totally re-worked how Vampire Rave tracks your site usage. This is a good news, bad news situation.
First, the bad news....
The new system is not compatible with the old, and I am unable to import the old data. So, all of your viewing history has been lost.
The good news....
The new system, appears at first glance, to be over 500% faster. Pages should load much quicker. Right now page tracking is only functional in the Profiles section. Once I am sure it is bug-free, I will expand it into the Vampire Database and The Forum (Yes, Forum messages will in the future be marked as to whether or not you have read them).
There is another new function. Marking everything as read. If you go to the edit your profile page, and scroll all the way down, the second to last box is new. It is labeled Page Tracking. By clicking there, you can mark all Profiles as being read. So... If you've read all the profiles already and don't appreciate your history being lost, you can use this new tool to once again mark them all as being read.
Please report any bugs you may find, and I will try to expand the new system into the rest of the site by the end of the week.
i still see all my stats the same... guess you fixed it ... :P
Very nifty.
Tis a pity I had read only half the profiles, will have to go back and read em all now.
Ah well, no great loss, some of them were a good read. (=
*eeks* nooooooooooooo I was nearly though all the stuff! *pouts*
Oki.. I've been kissed better... all happy now
aww *waves goodbye to 860 pages* suck! oh well this is probably a better idea
DarkMan:
This doesn't affect stats in the User Menu. Only what pages you have viewed (all the little [new] and *NEW* markings).
I moved the 'profile clear all' box from the Edit Your Profile page to the bottom of the Profiles page. It makes more sense to have it there. You will only see the box if you are logged in.
I am going to try an implement the new page tracking system into the Vampire Database tonight..
thanks... i figured that out last night after i had replied... ehehe good deal it sure is alot faster now... good job
P.S. Before you go clearing all in the Vampire Database and Profile sections, I am working on a way to restore which pages you've already viewed. I should have this done in the next hour...
Okay, I just completed an exhaustive database update.
I figured out a way to restore most people's viewing history. What I did, was run a script that looked for every page every user had rated, and then that page would be marked as read for that user...
Now I realize this won't restore 100% of the pages you have viewed, but it will restore all the pages (Profile or Vampire Database) that you have rated... Anything you have not rated, is marked *NEW*.
None of my information seems to have changed, is that supposed to be that way?
If you have rated every page you have viewed, then nothing will have appeared to have changed.
As usual, a cheer leading squad is applicable at this point
