The last Cancer Project aired July 15th, 2001. Vampire Radio shut down a few months later. I think it was in November.
A lot has happened in my life since then. A lot has changed. I could never re-create The Cancer Project, the show could never be the same. For one, I don't live in Phoenix anymore. In Phoenix, I had a multitude of opportunity, events, and talent to draw upon. Today I live in a small rural-country town. A lot could be done by phone, but any new show wouldn't have the studio presence that The Cancer Project had.
Secondly, there were many reasons why Vampire Radio closed. Although not the primary reason, one of the reasons I supported its closure was licensing conflict.
You guys are working on borrowed time. The RIAA, ASCAP, BMI, and SESAC are all going to come after you for money. To operate legally, they'll expect annual dues (starting at around $2000 per year. More if your station actually makes money). Their letters will start out nice, welcoming you to webcasting, and then ending in send us our cut. If you ignore them, the letters will get worse, until court action finally happens (and they will drag you into court. They have drug 1000's of tiny stations into court prior to you).
All this being said, I have always held the possibility open for Vampire Radio to re-open. The future is difficult to foretell in this arena, as licensing issues may change. And I have a few other ideas as to how to get Vampire Radio back on the air legally.

Including 58 episodes of Dark Refrains, 10 episodes of The Cancer Experience, the 2 Video editions of The Cancer Project, 5 of the live shows Vampire Radio produced and promoted, and much more.
