It's not the world, it's just some of the people living in it... We all have animal instincts, I guess some people just have a harder time controling the urges we sometimes get...

Last week some people in a car swerve donto the pavement at my friend and then speeded away laughing. Thats a terrible thing. It however does not make the world a bad place, it just makes it a place.

I think this is an excellent thread.. I think that the world has devoured its power and blinded by greed everyone is trying to get more.. and more.. and more.. Greed..

like i said before we need to mind our own bussiness and focus on whats wrong in the USA and not all over the world. its ok to do that sometimes but we do it why to much i think....

I think if everyone (not just some) just tried to be nice to everyone all the time then maybe it could be a nicer world. The world in which we live in nowadays is not the same as a few years ago. There are too many people who only care about what they can get from someone else and not caring for anyone else or who they hurt. It also has to do with too many people playing the blame game. If you did something wrong, own up and don't blame someone else for your mistakes.
We all make mistakes after all no one is perfect.

i've been saying for a few years that the downfall of mankind has already started.

we're not getting better. and those of us that see that are hiding away with other people creating little sanctuaries of their own.

we wont be getting better for along time and maybe even never....we will more then likely keep getting worse.

it would take a lot of... well... say 80% of the worlds population stood up and said "no more" and took matters into their own hands...

I agree with VampyOne. This stuff has been going on for a very long time. Violence and greed are imbedded in human nature. It is much more noticable to us today than it was a hundred years ago because of the media and the far reaches it has across the world. No longer are we only shown the horrors of our own region or nation, now we are able to see the worst situations all across the world everyday when we watch the news. This is probably the main reason that the violence seems to be increasing everywhere in intensity.

i agree with Moreish...the only thing "wrong" with the world is that is developing...its moving on...people dont adapt to change quick, so its kind of hard for humans to adapt so quickly to everything going on in our surroundings....different eras, different happenings......its all time and change.....nothing really wrong...(ok ill name just random times, not a specific order or time frame)there were the middle ages, the reign of terror, the enlightment, the depression, the cold war, w.e...name it ...all times on which people had to adapt....they too asked "whats wrong with the world?"....now you're asking the same thing......its only natural...

i am going with the media comment, the world has had all these things since basicaly from the get go. but now we have the internet, radio, movies, television and what not to quickly tell us about it. let's face it we love to know what is going wrong in the world so we know what to keep from to stay safe. if more things of what people did right were shown it would likely level with the bad.

why does this seem so bad, i will go off of what Moreish said, it is because we are in it, we are seeing and experiencing these atrocities first hand. for those of you who have kids or are planing on it. wait for them to be a teen, they will likely thing the world is a horrible place like many of us do now.

has anyone seen the movie Equilibrium? in that they blame human emotion for crime and war. and cut it out using a chemical which must be taken. EVerything in the world becomes a standard. only one type of bed, one type of car etc.

It's both good and bad. we are human because of our emotion. but the lack of crime and global standardisation may be the best things going.

I think the worlds to big to police. and with an entire cyber world called the internet, it's getting harder to police by the day.

i guess in ways anarchy would be good. but anarchy would just lead to riots. that wouldn't help anyone. But a sort of public police would be good actually.

for example, my friend was telling me about something that he witnessed in Superdrug. this 14 year old chav scum. i hate labels but my friend said this one was 100% all the way moronic. stole a womans purse. she shouted and the kid was jumped on and tackled down by about 4 guys.

that's the kind of thing.

there just general needs to be more police on patrol, but there aren't that many and they can't be everywhere.

solutions... more police, or a new kind of public police, people licensed to stop criminals, i'd go for that license if it existed.

it's either that or constant CCTV footage EVERYWHERE and GPS tracking implants in every human to track down the criminals wherever they are.

and lets face it. i can't see those happening anytime soon.. can you?

i think that we just have to make due with what we have and just try to do our best. i mean there will always be crime, no amount of police, or sercurity measures will change it

i must agree i would feel much safer with a whole bunch of police, and the civilian police idea sounds a lot like the good semaritian law, which as far as i know helps with feeling safe ( i.e everyone has your back)

i also agree that we must strive for the best. what i was refering to is sort of war logic, you go with what you got and you keep on improving as much as you can.

Yeah it would make the world a better place, but good luck trying get humanity to be that way. "If I'm not directly effected, then why should I care." is much more common.

quite simply the world is really no different now....however with more efficient media, and news services....and less restrictions on the media than there have been in the past.....we see more of what actually happens....more people talk about what has happened to them now as two generations ago nobody spoke

Put it this way, what chance of surviving did you have 50/100 years ago, never mind long before that.. that was war and chaos.. The world we live in today, may seem violent and off-line but when you compatre it to the history of the world we have it pretty good. I know that i don't have to sleep in a trench, living off rats and brown water, then have to go and fight a battle... The world is slightly unhinged, but hell, it's better than its ever been....

The US is supposed to be the place where everyone wants to be....but look at how fucked up we are....at least in other nations and courtries, families stay together and care for each other...and in other places, you can be different and it's ok...here in the US, if you're different you are considered a freak...

when i think about it, i do have it pretty good. back when they didn't have light bulbs, back further, your home could be taken over by barbarians at any moment, and you would sleep in the dirt and have to get up and fight at a moments notice.
