many people that i know say that they are dead inside for various reasns. i also feel that way for my own reasons. but what i want to know is if your dead inside, why should u still be alive as a physical mortal?
you may feel dead but you are not.. your soul still lives or you wouldn't still be here.. that is what I think. I don't think that helps but that is what I have to say..
Everytime I lose a family member, I die inside. I would guess that's what it means to be dead inside. As already pointed out, your soul is what carries you...not your living body...Your body is a host for your soul...I hope I got the point across I was intending...
its opposite for me physical pain is nothing anymore but i can still hurt on the inside
Feeling dead inside is a common characteristic for empaths. If you think back to the last time you can remember feeling something, you will probably find that it was something to strong for you to take in. As a defence mechanism you shut off. You live because the shell is not on time out. Heart beats, lungs breathe. It is the being within that has retreated. Go back and find the moment of impact, repair and feel again.
I've felt dead inside for five years until November 13, 2004. And no I'm not talking becoming a born again Christian or being turned to the dark side or anything like that. Because I finally realized that the life you live is a gift, not a burden, yeah everyone has problems, but if you let them over run your heart, mind and body, then yeah you begin to feel dead inside, or rather you wish you were dead and you could just turn everything off, all your feelings. The thing I find somewhat amusing, is the fact that you cannot completely turn your feelings or yourself off from feeling everything. Because if you are feeling dead inside, well then you are feeling are you not??? If you're happy, then you are feeling, sad, feeling something, angry, feeling something. I absolutely refuse to believe that there is any being who is so absolutely passive that they can say that they feel absolutely nothing. The only thing that can is when you are dead, no longer breathing, no blood flowing through your body, no heart beat dead....
is the whole world going through a phase of "oh my gosh there's [insert random occurance] infiltrating my body and mind"
what's with all the depressed people?
admittedly some bad things happen. but just because a few bad things happen doesn't mean you're dead inside. you're dead inside if you have nobody and you have no aim in life. and even then you might still have some sort of life.
sorry to go on a half rant, but i've seen a few too many threads about things like this... you are alive... why not just live!?!
if you're not having a good time, talk to someone, go on a night out... generally cheer yourself instead of posting something that will only "kill you inside" more...
very interesting.i loss a bit of myself every time a member of my family passes, the worst was when my mother passed on..that took a big hit...
dead inside, lets see i would have to go with the first resonse, we would be floating lost souls if we where dead inside
In my point of wiev its generally impossible to be dead inside, but you can feel that way. Its mainly when you strongly miss someone or something or when your just not satysfied with your way of life(weather you realise it or not).
But I think its possible to have something died inseide you, but its totally different thing.
i don't think that you can die on the inside. I think that a part of you just goes numb and you feel that loss. After a period of time it reawakens and you dont' realize that it was the part that you lissed because it is such a great feeling. Something like that.
when ppl say that they mean feeling wise like i feel like it all the time
I totally agree with Gorey. To feel dead inside when you are alive and not paralyzed is silly to take it seriously. It is a figure of speech not a literal feeling. I had a depressing childhood and I can't think of anyone who was 100 percent happy with their childhood. It is a part of growing up to deal with your problems and losses so that you don't feel "dead" inside. I lost a big part of myself when my mom died too, but I cannot say that a part of me died with her and mean it literally since I don't know what dead feels like.
Why do people commit suicide then? I can give you an insight. They have a great out-look on life, lots of hopes, lots of ambitions. but over the course of time they keep getting knocked down, ev erything seems to go from bad to worse, they lose the one person they ever love and no matter how hard they try to regain the feeling and want forl ife, it never comes back to them. If a person keeps getting set backs in life time after time, then maybe, just maybe, that there time is up and they have done everything that was required of them in this life. So chose to end their own life. If life is a gift, then why do we have no choice in it? I never had the choice if i wanted to be born, so why is it wrong to make the choice when i'm older and wiser to give the 'gift' back to someone who could use it better. when a person dies and new person is born. I will die happy knowing that i'm a sacrificing my life so i can give it to someone who deserves it....
Feeling dead inside...it is figurative...an exaggeration, I've used the term before, and I used it in the sence that I was numb, unable and unwilling to feel, mentally shot, my life having been injected with some sort of nova-pain, I had once written something to the effect of "...Why won't I bleed? Why do you pass right through me as if I am transparent? Just because I am dead inside doesn't make me a ghost." Meaning I am still living, just so emotionally torn apart and broken......
i dont think that anyone can be dead inside i think they just gave up hope on life
as it currently stands once something dies, it doesn't come back. so if you "died on the inside" then you will NEVER feel anything EVER again. i suppose it is possible to have this happen. but i don't that it truly occurs. like people have been saying,
life's a Bit@h. then you die
but that doesn't mean that it has to be bad, even if horrible things happen. i believe a huge number have had something horrid happen to them.
i also like another saying
--there is always someone better--
i take it one step further
--there is always someone worse--
i am not saying youcan't get depressed or shouldn't, just consider the fact though that there are people that would love to upgrade to your level of pain
i think when someone says i'm dead from the inside the are saying that they feel as the are sunked in their feelings. that they could no longer feel as because they are sunked...or also they could be refering to that they have their mind somewhere else wondering and their body is there.
the only time ive eveer felt dead inside was the day i found out i suffer from heart problems....
from what i have noticed people feel dead in sides when life defeats them. they have lost all emotional self and that is why people feel dead in side. after all with out emotion we have lost our self.
everytime i fail at something i go a bit deader inside
every time i succeed a new spark of life is kindled
I have often felt dead inside for my own reasons...
However, lately I have found myself and I have been bringing myself back to life... fighting my depression is one thing that is very hard but I have found good ways to battle it!
I think a lot of people suffer from depression now a days because they are thought they have it... Who knows, I've been on meds since I was seven and I could really be okay but because I was told I had it I let the thought take over.
Now, I'm taking over it!
